    As an owner of a KLR is nice to see a pig fly. If the cam's are like the older klr's free horses in the exahust cam. advance 1 tooth for 7.5 degrees. Eagle Mike and others worked on it is well documented on a klr forum. Did on my 04 was as much butt dyno gain as the 685 piston loosing 14% mass.

    had a gen 1 and a gen 2 KLR..enjoyed both , these are not big horse power monsters..more tractor-ish... the power is down low in the rpm range 2-4k..with proper servicing these bikes will go many thousands of trouble free miles..

    Good video, thanks for sharing!
    I went with the JD tuner on my 2022 KLR and have been very happy with it so far. Not to mention it’s about 1/2 the cost of the power commander 6.
    In combination with the airbox mod, Leo Vince slip-on, and tuner, she pulls much harder than in stock form.
    Every little helps when riding a slooooow KLR!

      Yessir.... The gains definitely aren't huge. But based on a percentage of where we began to where we ended, it was big gains. 3hp gains on a 1000hp car isn't anything worth it. That same gain on a 30hp bike is way more.

    • @chadkline4268
      @chadkline4268 11 месяцев назад

      You should be able to get 39hp out of it. 6hp increase, not just 3hp. 15% increase in both power+torque. You need the snorkel delete, and high performance air filter (uni) and exhaust. Then Dyno tune. The JD part has a built in accelerator pump. Interesting video. Everything seems to have been done right. Was there nothing more that could've been done? 😊
      What's the secret to all the latest 450cc engines performing similarly to the KLR? Well, it seems he enjoyed it if the wheelie was any clue 👍 I wish the result chart was easier to see and study.

      Find a 2nd gen head pipe and heat shield. Weld a nut that matches o2 sensor. Drill it and use the 02. It will amaze you. The header coppergasket and the rear muffler pipes all match. Kawi welded that small header pipe into the same size ends. I'm a tetired master tech and enjoy finding cheap horsepower.. Pure brappp.

    A slip on with the KLR is a full exhaust, as the cat is in the standard muffler. The stock header is pretty good, not really worth spending the money to replace.

    It would have been nice to see the dyno figures in the stock condition. It's likely that the figures would have been not too far behind the final figures. That was a lot of money that the guy spent on maybe a two HP and two ft lbs gain, in addition to being loud and obnoxious. Additionally, his fuel mileage probably took a hit. But, to each his own.

    If you want to wheelie and ride on the streets, get the Honda XR650L. The XR wheelies great, but it's more dirt oriented and on the streets it's no comparison to the mighty KLR. Although the previous models with the carbs, seem to be easier to modify, with the right jetting or a 42mm carb and the right pipe, seems like they wheelie better and have more grunt. Also, I've heard that the new KLR's have a narrower header pipe and possibly you can use one from the earlier models, but you have to drill a hole and weld on a nut for the O2 sensor. Either way I don't have any desire to wheelie my new KLR, you only damage the front end from all the pounding and it's 460=480 lbs, which is not good when you finally bust your butt. Bad idea!
