- I dropped a GoPro under a pier to see what happened underwater. I then dropped some bait around it to see how the fish reacted. It was wild!

This would be a perfect time to use a 360 camera. You'd never have to worry about missing anything cool out of frame!
Under water drone would be perfect
Exactly what I was thinking. A 360 camera would capture everything.
360 for sure.
💪🏽🤘🏽
Then why don't you buy one for him
came straight to the comments to leave a comment about using a 360 camera
i appreciate the no frills nature of this video. just some interesting content, no annoying music, no one trying to ham it up and be funny when they aren't. just some interesting stuff to see!
An article on my Google news feed brought me here… this was pretty cool. That dolphin was neat to see, it knew exactly what it was doing too!
Wow, the surprise visit from the turtle was the highlight of the video for me, not sure why, but I've always been drawn to them. They look so peaceful swimming out there.
The sea turtle was checking out the GoPro because it looks similar to its natural prey, the plastic straw.
Sad but true
Lol
I’ve never seen a GoPro that looks like a plastic straw.
Prey and predator
you mean: it’s predator
Great to see a clean healthy environment in the ocean!! So refreshing from plastic and dirt. Nice video just discovered your stuff and will be checking more!
The dolphin had a gopro in his mouth. He was making a video about what humans do at piers for his SeaTube channel.
I actually saw that footage. The dolphin wound up doing a collab with a sheep (something about what goes on in a farm pond). It was posted to her EweTube channel.
And actually it was a swimPro
I always love videos like this cuz a lot of that crackling and grinding that you hear is the fish making sounds to communicate. documentaries tend to edit it out a lot so footage like this that's more raw is always delightful cuz it actually has a proper soundscape
For some reason this came up on my Recommended. I don't fish. I don't live in Florida. I have no idea why I clicked on it - but I will say it was pleasantly entertaining to watch. Thanks for the upload!
Watching this while I’m insanely high, your fish video is my favorite video ever, I like how you describe each fish, they are all so pretty I love this video wow so beautiful 😯💗💗💗💗
high too eating m&m's
Out of all fishing videos I've watched, I have to admit that you are the best narrator. You sound very relaxed and no drama or explosive voice of excitement.
If yall liked this video there's a similar one called dropping a gopro beneath a cruise ship that's really cool
saw it. can confirm it was awesome 👌🏼
Can also confirm it was awesome 👏🏻
That little boy was so polite! I love hearing kids still say “yes sir”. He was definitely raised right ❤️
I used to live pretty close to that beach! The small, pale snappers with yellow lines and a black spot on their back were Lane Snappers, and the pompano-like fish that the kid caught (which you could also see swimming in a big school above the bait) is an Atlantic Bumper (in the Jack family). Also, fun fact, the croakers that you saw filtering through the sand weren’t typical Atlantic Croakers, but a closely related species called a Spot (generally more blocky in shape and with a larger shoulder spot). Also, HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Thanks for the info!
Looks more like a trevally the one the kid caught. But maybe same thing different name?
Small jack crevalle
The fish that the kid caught doesn’t look like a Trevally or a young Jack Crevalle, but after looking back through the video it also isn’t identical to an Atlantic Bumper. To me at least, after a bit of research, it most closely resembles a Blue Runner (another member of the Jack family).
In southeast Florida we call those bumper jacks "butterfish"
The puffer: "Dude. What is REALLY going on here?"
I just read a story on Google today about this exact video. So here I am checking it out.
Same lol
No bullshit intro and straight to the content, love it!
I’m 17 and been fishing for the last 42 years and that fish is actually a darude sandstorm
That fish is a song?
This was actually cool. An adventure with anticipation. Not knowing what you were going see, keeps u on the edge of your seat. I love it. Thanks fir sharing
I once had a small remora chose me as it's host and it was the cutest thing EVER! I was heart broken when it was time to leave the beach. The little fish looked so forlorn when I got out of the water 😢. lol
That was a lot cleaner than i expected
THE TURTLE!!
At around 7:22 you can hear the sonar blast the dolphin emits at the fish to push them away to snag the cut bait. Cool video!👍
That's crazy how much radiation is in that water, I can hear the geiger counter going crazy!
CORRECTION: The longest pier in the Gulf of Mexico, aka the longest pier in the world, is located in Progreso, Yucatán, Mexico.
It is 4 MILES long and it runs north in the Gulf of Mexico from the Yucatán peninsula towards New Orleans, Louisiana.
Fish are such naturally curious animals. It's so cute.
Great work...but may i suggest, please don't use a hook..just have a pin method or something where if a Dolphin and such like grabs the bait then there is no risk of hooking it.
5:32 Dolphin probably has a pufferfish in his mouth lol ✌️
FL born & raised but this kind of content is totally new to me, I'm surprised I've never seen a video like this. Really cool stuff!
Well I know what I'm doing with my gopro this summer!
that is pretty cool. dolphins are so smart. makes sense they'd know how to delicately rip the bait off the hook
I just love sea turtles. They are so fascinating
dude this is so cool, seems like a fun hobby that I’d like to try myself. surely there’s a way to get a live feed of what’s going on down there that you could watch on your phone or some other device. thanks for the vid!
Anyone else say 'DUUUDE" when they saw the turtle? Like from Finding Nemo?
the dolphin is like a legendary around all these low level fishes
Not only will the dolphin steal your bait the right way - he will laugh at you in his own language -
Your interaction with the young boy was good. Just really organic, he’ll remember that the rest of his life. Just that you would take that time with him may influence him his entire life.
I suprised myself with how much I enjoyed this. I am grinning ear to ear. How fun! And thanks for identifying so many of these fish. Loved the puffer and turtle visit!
Loved seeing the boy fishing! He was not scared either!
Alot of Piers have underwater cameras installed and are live 24/7 here on RUclips
Watching this in bed in the freezing UK Winter. It’s so soothing and wholesome 🌊
Gotta do it at night, same pier, with a night cam. See if there's a noticeable difference between the fish varieties.
I don’t understand the negative comments under your video. I enjoyed this a lot.
Lol. Fish at the gopro: "Dude, you look weird!"
Super cool - randomly popped up in my feed and I loved it!
Great narration....watched the whole video. 🐟🐠🐡🐬 Like the names of the fish. Do not live by the ocean...the gulf. So beautiful!
Turtle is a paid actor
I was born and raised in Daytona Beach. It astounds me how clear the water is on the other side.
I don't know how I ended up here, But I like it.
This is one of the more interesting things I've stumbled upon on RUclips. Great idea man thanks for sharing.
The mullet survived by pretending to be a redfish..lol👍
Lol. It darn near looks like one too!
I'm vegetarian, never watch fishing or hunting videos, but I was genuinely impressed with your knowledge of all the fish you filmed! It shows you have a true appreciation for the aquatic world. Thank you for posting this!
I have to ask…
Being vegetarian, do you actually know BOTANY and all the PLANTS that are being sacrificed for your diet? Plants are form of life you know…
@@AlCatrraz great question! I do know an extensive amount of botany, as well as herbal medicine.
That wasn't what this was about, though, right?
I grew up in a rural area where the hunters around me had very little regard for the animals they took down, or the environment they lived in. In fact, it was more of a "let's go out and blow some **** pigs up!", so I'm not used to being around hunters and fishers who are fascinated and appreciate the biodiversity of the area they are harvesting from.
@@Dreadybear.Ichode
I appreciate your view… I just wondered why you stated you are A VEGETARIAN..😄
I am not a Hunter or fisherman…
I have education in The Sciences- Math, Physics, Chemistry, BIOLOGY, BOTANY, ZOOLOGY, Computer Science…
It may be a paradox, but I do eat meat - BEEF & MOUTON and certain fish… while I see no reason to hunt UNLESS ONE EATS THE MEAT.. I also see a problem with WILD PIGS destroying the land.. it’s a pest..
I see no real problem in eliminating some pests.. but no reason for TORTURE…
Best to you…
@@AlCatrraz oh, I mentioned being vegetarian because I have no interest in watching fishing or hunting videos. It was really a random generated suggestion by RUclips, and I was pleasantly surprised! I can mark off on my life list that I've now watched a fishing video. 🤷🏽♀️🤣
One the note about wild pigs, if we humans hadn't eliminated their natural predators, "we" wouldn't need to eliminate them.
@@Dreadybear.Ichode
WE, HUMANS, are part of nature too!
And WE don't really know WHAT IF answers TO ANYTHING...
Pigs are rather SUCCESSFUL in survival, and REGULATING THEM is a necessity..
BEST TO YOU!
Saw this pop up in my feed on the Google Pixel's built in page (swiping all the way to the left). Very neat video 💯 New sub for sure ✅
Same, pixel feeds have led to some cool stuff.
6:55 "Ya got games on your phone?"
This was really fun to watch, thank you. I live in Alaska and have a completely different type of sea floor and sea life.
I think we just saw the first dolphin getting high on a GoPro, I think it was chewing on a puffer to get high, like how sea turtles eat jellyfish to get stoned. Just guessing.
It’s crazy seeing a random RUclips video pop up about your hometown
Florida piers we're always a neat experience when I was young. Puffers, barracuda, some sharks, even saw a big manta ray once swimming near the pier. Those things are huge and fast.
I'm subbing in hopes to seeing more of these videos
Them fish are looking like 👀 “What is that?” “It’s a USO!”
@5:38, I enhanced the footage and you're not going to believe this.... but that dolphin ALSO had a gopro.... :)
dolphin is just getting high on a puffer 🤣
The fish that the kids hooked, we call it Silver Trevally in Australia...
its a totally different species , we don't have silver trevally in Flordia.
Looked like a young Permit
And I can’t catch a single fish… dang there’s a lot down there!
Im so glad you did this. This is something I have always wanted to do at our pier .
Healthy location 👍 excellent footage!
Great video! It's funny how crafty the dolphin was ... it knew very well that the cut ladyfish had a hook inside but also knew how to tear it loose from the hook. The phin probably gets plenty of free meals stealing fishermen's baits like that.
Today I learned dolphins are smart enough to take the bait off a hook without getting snared. I don't know why this surprised me because I already knew they were smart, but still...
Dolphins are smart but they just don't eat everything whole like many fish/sea creatures do. The reason you catch fish with a hook is that they often put the entire bait and hook in their mouth because they are used to swallowing their food whole.
There is a dumb one in every pod. "A guy I know" hooked one and it nearly spooled a 4/0 tuna reel. He cut the line once it jumped in the air and saw what it was. The reel was ripping after it hooked itself.
Very interesting video. I like how you used simple equipment to make the water under the pier come alive. I want to try things like that in the Hudson, but it's so murky!
The dolphin had his own GoPro in his mouth checking out the pier
It's Florida. The dolphin is probably running around with a glock.
Lol
@@420_10_Hour_Sounds Florida is actually a anti gun state
Filefish are related to pufferfish! They both have beaks and swim with their pectoral fins.
This would be so cool with a 360 camera
You should do this while on a boat would be cool to see further out
I LOVE the ocean. It would be a dream to live on a tropical island surrounded by warm crystals blue/green water
lmao you would die. Nature is sinister in a way because it lures you in with its beauty, but kills you with its conditions. For one, you would have no drinking water because sea water is not drinkable, second, tropical islands are dry and pretty much have nothing to eat, and the jungle rainforest areas are full of poisonous plants and animals you can't even tell until you try. So as much as I also wanna do that, it would be a short life, unless you're at a resort. Not to mention the sun will burn you in the day and dehydrate you with heat, and at night it will be cold and windy and freeze you.
@@whatisthishandlegarbagethis is one of the dumbest comments I’ve ever read on RUclips. So you got that going for you.
@@whatisthishandlegarbageplus the tropical storms and hurricanes do a lot of damage destroying billions in damage every yr.
@@vhscopyofseinfeldlol its straight facts. Everything said was correct
I love how curious the fish are
What a beautiful turtle that was so cool👊🙏😎
Dolphin had a GoPro in its mouth. Ya know, just documenting the happenings of the local pier.
The fish the kid caught was a butterfish. VERY good to eat And the snappers you couldn't identify were Lane snappers
It's not a butterfish, it's a silver trevally! Please leave this comment section when you clearly don't know what you are talking about. Leave it to us big boys. Thanks
Ha, ha, hahahahaha... No, it's an Atlantic butterfish. Please avoid being a dick on comment sections.@@trolojolo6178
@@trolojolo6178you are wrong. It's crazy people leave comments like they know what they are talking about when they clearly have no fking clue....talking about you incase you're a little slow. 100% a Butterfish kid. When you get some hair on Your balls , people will start taking you a little more serious.
Dude this is a sick idea, if there were a 360 weatherproof camera imagine using that as a sinker having the hook underneath it so you can view it from your phone like a security cam or after the fact.
That puffer and turtle really nice to see!
This was super fascinating. The ocean is a world within a world.
I was just sitting, watching with enjoyment until the turtle showed up. Then, as a grown man watching alone, I audibly said "Yay".
I love that there are so many fish in the ocean that a dude who’s been fishing it his whole life is like “I don’t know what that fish is?”
The dolphins that frequent that pier are notorious for taking bait. I've seen them toy with the people fishing for hours and never get hooked.
Hehe... peering under the pier.
I love the underwater GoPro pictures of our beaches. More fascinating down there than it is up on the dock. Keep up the good content. I’ll be watching. Thanks.
Nice to see. A refreshing to the contrast of people just hooking and keeping what they can. Thanks.
I remember swimming with the turtles in Hawaii when I was younger. Such beautiful animals
So cool! A sea turtle AND a dolphin!!!
Awesome vid! And the Remora fish really surprised me, I never thought they could just roam around like a normal fish like that and not attached to something.
Loving these underwater GoPro videos!
That was a great video, thank you. I live real close to that pier. I love Navarre Beach.
Same here it's a beautiful place!
Cool turtle man
Beautiful footage! Love it! Thank you!
That was so much fun to watch. thanks for posting it.
"There was just nothing in the mid-depth range"
Proceeds to show a group of fish and the channel's first green sea turtle
pretty sure he didn't include the footage from the mid depth because there was nothing, he said he had to go out further and that's what we were seeing.
@@vupt you can see him drop the camera at the middle of the pier when he says that. And before he goes to the end he says "and then I brought it to the end" which you can also see him doing.
I was just about to comment "How in the world does this video not have more views than it does?" and then I realized I was reading that it had 3.8k views instead of 3.8 million.
Like the way you put this together. The personal touch with all the other fishers on the pier is a cool touch add more of that
So cool! I love your narration, relaxed but informative, and also the small "community" snippet with the kid fishing. I really enjoyed this!
Ladyfish is delicious and not an oily flavor at all. The meat is mealy and doesn't make good fillets. A vietnamese fishermen in Texas gave me a recipe for fish patties. Some scallions, a little soy sauce, some salt and pepper, I don't remember there being much more to it then that. Scoop the meat off the fish with a spoon while still raw, press into patties with the ingredients mixed in like you're making a burger. They cooked up nice and firm and were absolutely delicious.
I'll have to try them!
