I found out when they were having walk on tryouts and showed uo with my cleats. Showed them my student card and they were like, "get in line"
😂 That easy huh? Thats smooth, Im glad it worked out for you. How did you do?
I played semi pro before I got there and had talk to one guy who was like a paper pusher or something, he told me what date to be there and have shorts and cleats so I did. They were expecting me.
@@ThankGodImBlack370 thats dope man! Im happy for you.
@@TheWalkOnCoach what about for ged students can you reach to college football coaches and tell them your interested in trying out for football and possibly get scholarship as walkon
@@bakerbeginnerfood for you to walk-on, I know that you have to be enrolled at the school or in the process of enrolling. So you can reach out and ask about tryouts to get a feel for which school would be best to go to but then you’ll have to get enrolled. Those are the only stipulations I am aware of but you can also talk with the athletics compliance department at the school to verify.
So happy I stumbled on this.+1 subscriber man. I’m headed to Texas tech In January and as an international student from Nigeria I’m hoping the process works out. Even tho I’m 16🙂. Hopefully my talent speaks more to them than anything else.
Appreciate you Edozie💯
You walking on to a team at 16?
Thanks Sam. I currently at Knoxville waiting for season to wine down so I can start walk ons I know tennessee needs defensive bodies and I'm going for it.
Wishing the best for you. What position you play?

I graduated highschool and was planning on walking on to southeastern university
Do it! Try to connect with the coaches as soon as possible though.
I missed my walk on chance do colleges have another walk on tryout
They tend to have a tryout every year, you just have to find out when that is.
Awesome information!!💯
Thanks‼️

Im trying to play for ohio state
All I did was I went to a Camp to the school I want to go to balled out and then walked up to Coach and he gave me the walk on try out
That is another way to get in front of the coaches! Good work ‼️ What school?
@@TheWalkOnCoach university of northern Iowa (UNI) it’s a FCS
@@cameronkc360 thats awesome man. Some schools do make tryouts more available as they should. Let me know how the walk on process goes. Im hoping the best for you 💯💯💯

Any advice for walking on as a running back,I’m walking on to eastern Michigan
Same advice applies. Try to show your face and meet the RB coach a couple times before the tryout.
Please help my cousin. He’s at Fresno State 2nd year & he was varsity starter in high school but his coach quit before he graduated so he didn’t get college offers from teams. He’s at Fresno State with his grades but he’s a very good player.
Is he going to walk-on? Tell him he can reach out on my IG @tobe_great.
My dream is to become a WR for university of Texas but I have a felling I might not make it
Control what you can control. Try to secure a tryout and prepare for it, think positively and confidently. Thats all you have control over.
@@TheWalkOnCoach Ty for the advice
@@LCM_GG you know it‼️
Wsp, my name is Devon Johnson. I was watching some of ya vids and I wanted to tell you to keep going. I also wanted to ask how could I walk-on onto Lycoming basketball team? Lycoming seems like a good school. I'm 23 and I believe I still have 3 years of eligibility left to play. I haven't played basketball under the whistle since 2017. Everything after that year was intramurals. I'm so motivated to play again. Any advice?
What’s up Devon,
I appreciate you tuning in. Glad to help.
1. So you are enrolled at the school already?
2. If you are already enrolled, then I would reach out to the athletic director/athletics compliance person to verify your eligibility. It gets tricky. They can help you get that in order.
3. Then you’ll have to reach out to the coaches to ask about tryouts.
@@TheWalkOnCoach I’m enrolled in school already
@@PopJohnson okay bet. You know who your athletics compliance person is? Their info should be on the athletics staff directory for your school.
@@TheWalkOnCoach no, I’m not sure. Are you referring to my academic advisor?
@@PopJohnson so at NC A&T, there was an athletic director and a athletic compliance person who handled eligibility. Google your school’s athlete directory and let me know if you find a position like that.
You may have to call to ask who can help you verify your eligibility.
Was injured my junior year and played behind 2 all American wide receivers my senior year. Never really got any film. Going into my freshman year at University of Arizona. I’ve been training hitting the weights currently at 6’1 185. Just wanted know what I should be saying in these emails. Should I be talking about stats or just strictly asking when I can get a tryout.
Update?
I only played 2 weeks during highschool. And I didn’t even get to play, my senior year I got injured during practice with a severe sprain. Never got any PT or got to play in previous years due to financials. I’m thinking about going to college (I’m 22 now) and if I did should I walk on? It’s a smaller FCS D1 school, but I still lack some knowledge in the game. Do I have a chance? Or do you think they’d teach me without judgement? If I need to know stuff, what SHOULD I know as a fresh starter? I played outside of school with friends but that’s about it.
If you feel that football is your passion and it has been tugging at your conscious, then by all means go for it.
Since you have little experience, you will need to put in extra extra work learning the game. Watch football and study the positions you think you will be best at.
I would suggest you walk on at a D2 or D3 school to get experience first if that is possible. But also consider your major. Make sure your major is actually something you can put energy towards and use to make a great living after you graduate.
Awesome video! But i just wanted to ask when should i start emailing or calling coaches because im in ninth grade so should i wait a couple more years or start now?
Appreciate it! I would recommend that you get some good film freshman and sophomore year and use that film when reaching out to coaches. You could start as soon as your sophomore football season ends.
@@TheWalkOnCoach alright thanks!
Hey coach walk-on can you walk walk on as a senior too and continue to play as a graduate student???
Hey walk on coach! I appreciate the video, ive been wanting to play football for awhile now, haven't play since high school and have no tape since i didn't play very often since i had alot going on and didn't take it as seriously and it was to late by the time i startedmaking changes in my life, i was born with autism and was bullied and look down upon in school and for most of my younger days, im 23 and im a host of youbucthat an upcoming podcast but in my heart my burning passion to play hasn't went away and im not sure if im even skilled enough to play in the college level but i want to give it my best regardless of how of a long shot it is, if i dont than I'll regret it so gotta follow the heart but i want to ask realistically is it possible for me to play football again?
Its 100% realistic. Where you play is the question. College ball can be hard to get into but it’s possible. Some colleges have intramural teams that you can try out for too. You could also try joining a semi-pro football team first. I play semi-pro ball now since I’ve graduated college.
The Walk-On Coach I know a coach at this Christian community college and they have a program for athletes that didn't get offer an offer from an D1 college and he said I could try out this year but I'm physically not ready so I Decided to dedicate 10 months to get ready and get my knowledge on Football up as well
I talked to a recruiting coach for jsu recently for me to walk on but he hasn’t texted back in a while should I send him another text?
Hey my son try it out today. He is a freshman it was an easy to get a walk-on spot. I am just worried. Hope he makes the team! Help
Lol! Well he put in the work already so we just have to wait and see what the results are. Hoping the best.
What school
So, I transferred to a new school in my junior year of hs, and i broke my foot before my senior year so i wasn't able to get any film. I grew a passion for football starting from freshman year so i decided that I would try to walk-on somewhere, I am taking my first year as a college freshman at a community college but i plan to transfer after this year. I have been going to the gym as well as trying to gain some weight since I'm thinner than expected (I'm trying to play WR or K). Do you have any advice? Would you say that I'm on the right track, or is there something more I need to be doing?
You are on the right track. Don’t forget to get field work in just as much as you are in the gym. Build your speed too.
Yo I see u replying to comments. Tuff vid but my question was more specific. I play ecnl which is a high level of comp soccer in tx and I’ve never really played football like I’ve practice kicking but yea. I was thinking about attending a school like ou or something of that nature. What do you think my chances are of making the team as a kicker and is this common and possible??
I have heard a few stories of players transitioning from soccer to playing kicker for football. Its possible but you will need some type of film. You can record yourself kicking field goals from different spots on the field. Include that in your messages to coaches.
Hey u got any advice for someone who didn’t play in highschool and been some time since he been in it? Like how should he move in order to be a walk on for college at the age of 22?
ok so i haven’t played football since my freshman highschool cause of my injury…and the coaches made me believe i wasn’t good enough to ever play football. i’m currently a senior in highschool and wanna start playing football again cause i know i have potential to be great. i play middle linebacker and TE, is there any chances i’d be able to be a walk on smu
There is a chance but I recommend you try to get some type of film. Film of you working out, running, showing your athletic ability and strengths. You could even play semi-pro football for a year or flag to get film and experience before walking on.
What do you think the age limit would be I just made 20 a couple months ago
For college football, you are eligible age wise. But you would have to sign with the NCAA clearing house for D1 or D2 sports. Try and meet with the athletics compliance person at your school. They can help you.
Any pointers for the dline part of tryouts
For the tryouts Ive seen, Lineman and skill players did most drills together BUT Im sure strength(225 bench reps), technique(feet and hands), and speed are great ways to stand out.
What team are you trying out for?
@@TheWalkOnCoach Alabama State
If I had the passion do you think I could be a walk on if I have no highschool experience?
Passion alone will not get you there. You will have to find a way to get some experience and develop your skills and football IQ.
You could try semi-pro football or club football if the school has that. That would be the best way to learn and start to fulfill that passion.
@@TheWalkOnCoach sorry, I meant like if I had the passion and work ethic, I want to play ball but my athletic program is terrible and I can’t afford to drive 45 minutes to a different school, like I used to work at it every day and I wanted to start up at it again
@@cshtx oh I see. I think getting experience at a horrible program is better than nothing. Do you have another year or are you graduating?
Playing one year would at-least get you some film and experience.
@@TheWalkOnCoach I have 2 years left
@@cshtx okay. If you can’t transfer, definitely play at the school you are at to get experience.
a coach told me he gonna see if they have a available roster spots after the season im trying to walk on at BGSU in the spring but he told me “ We won’t know roster numbers for if we will have spots until after the season, but I will add you to our list for if spots do open on the roster “ i’m not sure if that’s a good thing or not to keep working out and being prepared? what’s your thoughts on it if you were in my position?
@Thewalkoncoach
That is a good thing and yes I would say keep working out to be ready.
At the same time, I would recommend working a plan B. If When the season ends, the coaches says the roster is full and you cant walk-on, what will be your plan B is what you need to plan for.
They strung me along in college saying stuff like that and then after a year of working out and be prepared, they made up another reason why I couldn’t walk-on. That is a possibility in this situation so make sure you have a plan either way.
@@TheWalkOnCoach okay cause i know they graduating almost 20 seniors in the spring. i’m not sure that play a part of that too or not
@@CrowdFavoritesPodcast that will have a lot to do with it. But they also might be recruiting at the same rate they are losing bodies.
