    Well now this was an interesting video and I have shot thousands of rounds of the federal auto match and it has performed very well for me. I like using bulk ammo because the one thing I enjoy about shooting a 22 LR is that it's economical.

    • @andrewmconrad
      @andrewmconrad  Год назад +3

      22LR is definitely economical to shoot compared to the cost of 223/556 especially if doing transition drills, reloads or sling manipulation. The only thing 22 can't simulate is recoil, but that's for another day

    This auto match out performed their own punch ammo in gel tests also. For the price you cant beat it for simple target and plinking.

    This was one awesome test regardless of the ammo. I've only two pistols to test this ammo and have in the past few months. Out of my old 617 S&W and a Model 41, groups were every bit as good as CCI Standard. The only reason I don't buy more is I prefer a slightly lower velocity for the Model 41. I've not tried it in my High Standards. Sucks how costly and scarce .22LR now is.

    I bought a box of this today. I was impressed. Two rifles were tested my 1022 Ruger and my Savage model 19 NRA. Both rifles did well. It was very windy here but was able to connect to a 1 inch swinging plate at 40 yards. I'll be going back to Walmart ugh to buy a few more boxes. I have the lot number and hope to get more of that.

    Good results for sure. I use Federal Automatch religiously. It works very well in all of my rifles. Generally shooting better than CCI std. velocity ammo, and much less expensive. You can also find it at the local Walmart. For around $21/box (325 rounds), it is dang hard to beat.

    I have about 10k of the auto match on hand. Accuracy, when the ammo works, is not the issue. Reliability is the issue. Using the pandemic, I was buying auto match as it was the only ammo available. From a box of 325 rounds, my wife and I would get 25+ failures to fire. Even after owning the round so the firing pin would strike a different spot, we’d still have issues. We also had underpowered rounds…..very little or no powder. The only thing setting off the round was the primer. Instead of bang…..we’d get a pop. I watched the bullet arc towards the target. Newer batches seem to be better. As an accurate, bulk plinking ammo it’s okay. For serious target shooting or in matches, I would find something better.

    • @240SSONLY

      Interesting... ive NEVER had an issue. Aguila, Winchester and others yes... but never this stuff. Maybe I'm lucky, but I only buy this now at walmart

  • @jeffroberts760

    For a while walmart Automatch was the only decent option for buying 22lr for me so I’ve shot a fair amount - it does not run great in my Beretta m9-22 or in my CMMG conversion for my 16” AR
    But of course is great in my lever gun
    Mini Mags run flawlessly in all and can still be had for 10cpr so I buy them and whatever is the cheapest I can find for my Henry h001

    • @andrewmconrad
      @andrewmconrad  Год назад

      Mini mags run great in general and still relatively inexpensive, but unfortunately it's over my max of 8cpr. And you can't beat 22 from a level gun, so much fun

  • @ryanpettit82

    Good video. What is the shooting distance and what is the average group size including the flyers? I tried Auto Match, Aguila Extra, CCI standard velocity, and Armscore with my M&P 15-22. Auto Match is reliable, but underperforms both the Aguila and CCI in term of grouping size.

  • @g.e.nelson4086

    My results differs for Federal auto match for both my Ruger precision rimfire and Savage b22 fv. I get moa performance in comparison to CCI standard velocity, Aquila super extra and Norma tac 22 with sub moa performance. I did find that the Federal auto match performs well in my Ruger SR 22 and Chiappa 1911-22.

      @@01rcpena it ran in my Ruger 10/22s and Smith & Wesson 15-22 but that's not really saying much as all of those will eat anything. I recall having a couple fail to feeds and / or stovepipes in my Browning Buckmark. I have another P08 copy that wouldn't have anything to do with it, but she's a picky girl. In my opinion, not worth the higher price for the target shooting I do. I do know Winchester did have problems with this line a while back. I am not a fan or buyer of Winchester rimfire products anymore. I've just had too many better experiences elsewhere. There's about 10 or so types of 22 that I will go for if the price is right or I'm doing something specific, but I stick with federal automatch for my bulk plinking.

    I’d say the ammo is crap, you can screw the bullet heads off, some are more powerful then others. But, it’s the CHEAPEST. We have a hammerli tac r1 basically a ar15 copy in a 22 and it absolutely will eat anything and it runs these fine it’s the only rounds we get.
