    Welcome Modelers :)
In this video I go through a couple of things I did to modify mounting the bussard motors from the Round 2 lighting kit in the TOS Enterprise model. The goal was to reduce the noise and make the motors run smoother with less run out and wobbling at the spinners.
The modifications are fairly easy and inexpensive to do and it does make a difference when finished.
The rest of the video shows a tour around the completed model.

I like them both. The Tenacontrols system is high quality and motorless so it should last a long time. And, its totally noiseless. But the only way to capture the exact look of the spinning blades inside the bussards is with something mechanical. Some better motors will drastically improve the R2 kit.

The original plans and drawings show the bridge being off center. The turbolift doors on the bridge line up with the shaft detail on the outside of the B/C deck.
The kit has indents to allow you to install the bridge straight forward or off center as it was originally shown in the old blueprints by Franz Joseph.

Hi there modelers, for all the builders out there, that got the spinner circuitboards that start working at 12.4 volts. There is an assambly error on the circuitboards the resonators R6 and R8 are in the wrong place. For those how are handy with a soldering,Switch them around and the spinners should work correctly starting at 6.4 volts and up. Already notified Round2 about it. Had the same problem wouldn't work on the adapter supply with the kit (that was only 12 volts). Happy mondeling to all.

Can u find motors with brass gears? Or use some lithium grease on them? Also, it would be nice if you could wire up an MP3 player module like from a greeting card and hide a speaker somewhere to play ST TOS bridge sounds ..it might drown out the sound of the motors kind of like a white noise blanket .

You should have popped open the motor gear assembly and added a little white lithium grease to the gears. That would get rid of most of the whine. This is the best model of TOS Enterprise. Hi Boyd, you should check out Hansen-motor 'dot com'. They are motors for clocks and other low rpm applications such as 360 degree displays. They even have a motorized slip ring so your model can turn 360 and still get power up to the ship. These are about as quiet as you can get.

      Nice work on this kit!
BTW, I watched another builder's Enterprise video and the guy who lit the inside of his nacelles with blue lighting was Thomas Johnson.
      It's an interesting lighting job.
I think he also took another route to slow down the motors to get them to spin at the proper speed...
      ******************************************
I still think this time around that NASM/Smithsonian did a decent job restoring the 11-ft Enterprise... I know there was some dust-ups about people being turned down for bids or not being considered but they might have gotten it at least 85% this time.
I have concerns about some of the mods they did to the interior to reinforce the wood but the paint job and electronics look very nice without the overdone weathering. Oh, and they decided to let the nacelle caps spin because they couldn't figure out how to replicate the spinning vane effect without motors.
It looks a LOT better this time than it did after the 1991 restoration.
