I worked at Caban in Toronto years ago and Eugene came in to my area looking at dinner plates, I went over and said ‘Can I Help You?’ and I startled him and he nearly dropped the plate he was looking at. Seeing him startled up close is probably the best thing I’d ever seen his eyebrows went up and I B-Lined for the back room. I asked one of the girls what I did wrong and she said ‘he doesn’t like people in his space’ so I said ‘should I go back out there?’ and she said ‘I wouldn’t’
The other thing about that job was we had a tv and vcr in the lunch room and Waited For Guffman was always playing. It was amazing and I probably wouldn’t change anything about because scarring him was probably better then awkward conversation 😂
