- From out of nowhere the Griot's Garage G9 Random Orbital Polisher sneaked up and won our Polisher Shootout. The G9 is in the top of the game in both Performance and Ergonomics. Not only does the Griots G9 polisher lay down the power, but it does so with very little to no vibration. Griot's includes the 6-inch pad with the G9, but you can also opt for a 5" pad as well. A 6-speed dial allows control of the pad from 2,000 to 6,400 orbits per minute. #polisher #detailing #carpolishers

Griot's G9 Polisher: www.autogeek.net/new-griots-p...
Not only does the Griot's G9 atop the charts in Performance and Ergonomics, but it also won as the least expensive in the category at less than $160. Furthermore, the G9 includes a lifetime warranty on the tool. We do with that the trigger was variable speed and that the 6-speed control had half-stops in-between each speed as well.

Consider it justified. lol. Thanks for watching.
It's ok, we all are lol
Did you buy it?... Comments?
Thanks
@@albertomendoza2251 not yet. I will go with g21. Go big or go home i guess
@@Carlos.Rivera Hi Carlos: I have the same hesitation ... LOL.
I want to buy a 3 and a 5 inches DA machines for my own cars so I think that G8 and G9 are enough... but I hesitate if I should go for the BOSS 15 instead G9 the price is higer and Im going to use these machine twice a year. I need to think twice.
Thank you for all the hard work you folks do and continue to do 🤙🏽😎
Great video. Very informative and to the point! Thank you for it
I bought this yesterday and used it today on my wife's hood and headlights. We could see the headlight improvement and feel the wax on the hood (after using compound). Couldn't see the shine due to finishing at 1930. Looking forward to tomorrow tho. Also used it on my 2012 wrangler about 1/3 faded headlamps. Wow is all I have to say, like night and day on them. Will be using it in the next coupla days to remove water spots, restore luster, and protect my Jeep. It's a great product. And I'm a complete first time user just learned over the past week how to detail, polish and wax a vehicle due to watching a bunch o' vidz.
I just ordered this polisher! Thank you for the in depth information and how to use. Really helpful and made the decision really easy. Thank you very much
Glad it was helpful! We hope you're happy with it. Let us know what you think. Thanks for watching.
No worries about build quality, that is an internal issue for Griots, because for us, IT IS A LIFETIME warranty! Nobody else even has more than just 12 months. This is a no brainer. Thank you for the blunt truth. :-)
Thanks for watching.
Just bought one, I’m glad to see I spent on something that’s quality! Thanks for the review!
I saw a review on this polisher and now reviews are showing up all over my feed. It must be a sign to get one...🤔💯
Buy the polisher....buy the polisher... Are you hearing voices? Lol. Thanks for watching.
great video. deciding to get this polisher with the griots micro. lifetime warranty sold me. price is awesome for a topline tool
Agreed. This is one fine machine in every aspect. Design was very well thought out. No shortage on quality on the internals either, will last a very, very long time.
We're hoping to see durability out of this machine too. It definitely has some great features and performs very well. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Awesome video!!! I’m buying one!
I bought this based on the shoot-out and this video. Subscribed.
Awesome! I hope you like it. Let us know what you think. Thanks for watching.
Nice job on the review. The only consistent knock I've seen in other reviews on the G9 is the vibration level. Personally, I don't have much of an issue with the vibration of the tool, but for others, it vibrates far too much to be used day in and day out.
That's really interesting, because I think the G9 vibrates much less than many others. Thanks for watching.
Good day just want to say thanks for the information you been dropping on youtube, I was a bit hesitant about this tool but now I am going to get one, along side there small 3inch polisher. I'm not sure if you know at Dewalt electric start gas pressure washer now that would be a nice video don't see anyone doing a review on it maybe you can share . Have a great day and keep doing the good work your doing 🍻
Let us what you think about the polisher/s. We think you'll be very happy. We're trying to get the new DeWalt pressure washer in for review. Thanks for watching.
I like to see a review on the new g15. Thanks for this video.
Ordered mine just now. 🤙🏽😎
You guys need to review the other polishers just as you stated on your competition video
The rupes mark 3
The maxshines polishers are the ones I feel people will love to see
Just ordered this tool to go along with my Milwaukee m18 rotary and m12 mini polisher
I have the same polisher, it's a fantastic Entry/ mid-level tool. However the vibration is real!! I like my flex better 😁
Wear gloves 😅
You guys should do a review on the new G15
I have the older model. It doesn't have as many bells and whistles, but it works really well.
It's definitely hard to beat. Thanks for watching.
I just bought it you have a good video
We hope it works out well for you. Thanks for watching.
Great video. Had one the chemical guys ones or who ever they use. Saw great reviews on this and yours put me over the top to buy. Used once and the vibration is nil and really balanced. One handed control is the best that I have used with other buddies and their.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for the kind words and Thanks for watching.
Can you suggest what pads to use for light to heavy condition on the vehicle?

hello excellent video, is it true that the first g9 have problems with the cables and stop working and changing the new cable or changing for the 25 foot griots is solved? some use the cable of the new g8 which is newer than the g9 and the g9 works again with the g8 cable, greetings from Argentina
I’ve seen too many videos to know that this particular polisher has known issues with vibration. And that’s it. So, for the price, it’s a good trade off. So I bought one.
So how's the vibration on yours?
Hi this will be my first polisher I know it comes with 6” backing plate… Would you stay with 6” or go to 5” backing plate I’m a newbie so any advice would be helpful thanks for the great channel
Go to 5
How is the G9 holding up? I’ve seen mixed opinions about it because apparently the charging cord gets busted after a while. Is yours still working good?
No issues whatsoever and this polisher is used EVERY day on multiple vehicles by Chase (the detailer in the review). Most weeks, he's working 6 days a week. The early models had trigger issues, but they did a rolling change during manufacturing. Thanks for watching.
@@Shoptoolreviews That's one durable tool!
I have never use a machine to wax my truck but I bought this and have to see how it works wrecking my paint.
Check out chemical guys they got some nice cheap ones to what wax was you guys using when polishing
I'm sure its a great machine, I'm just a old school rotary guy.
when I first tried a forced rotation machine my mind was blown, its best of both worlds.
Old school 32 year rotary guy here and I like to try forced rotation..which one? I'm a makita guy for rotary..I like my regular da polishers but they have limits.thx!
@@jonvanderheyden9206 I bought the flex forced rotation, I believe there is only two options anyways. Which is flex or rupes.
@@Stoney2525 cool. Makita makes one too. Has forced and da modes ..think it's the makita 5000..around $350.. I'll check out the flex too.thx
Really considering this machine
Is there later Griot’s buffing machine in the past ?
I’m not polishing for a living but I do want the right tools to do my own personal jobs.
I have a 40’ fifth wheel, a 32’ fiberglass powerboat, a big dually truck and a touring motorcycle, all of which I need to keep waxed and polished so they last and look good. I like the look, performance and price of the Groit’s G9. What other equipment would you recommend I acquire to keep the finishes looking good. Maybe a micro for the bike. Thanks for the shoot out video, I’m now subscribed.
We appreciate the sub. Sounds like you have an awesome fleet of motors. The Griots 3" polisher is a great addition, of if you want to spend a little more, the FLEX PXE80 is an awesome little polisher. Other than that, keep plenty of microfiber towels around and you should be good. Thanks for watching.
You should be using a real rotary polisher for that kind of workload, not a Dual Action.
Have you reviewed the new Griots Garage G15? I can't find a review anywhere. I am in between the G9 and the G15 cause I want a bigger throw for paint correction and I havent pulled the trigger cause theres no reviews on it. To my understanding the G15 is a combination of the Boss g15 and the G9. With less OPM but more cutting power. What are your thoughts on it?
We have not reviewed or used the G15, so we really can't speak for the performance and features. Thanks for watching.
G15 has variable speed
@@davidphillips2326 Thanks. That is a good feature. I went with the G9 instead though. First is cheaper and second all the reviews are good for performance and durability everywhere except for the cable cord apparently a lot of people have problem with those. But for the price and the lifetime warranty can't ask for to much. Apparently GG is very good with the warranty.
@@chukampatan I actually went with a G9 and G8 combo
@@chukampatan How have you liked the polisher so far? Similar to you, I am in between the G9 and G15.
I have one and seen other videos about having the same problem like I'm having which is the cord after second used it keeps cutting power after u move the cable it starts again u let it go and cuts off again good machine but that's the only problem I see a lot of people having whit it
Thanks for sharing. Sounds like you have an early version. I believe they made a rolling change in production to remedy this issue. You should turn it in for warranty. Thanks for watching.
2nd :D awesome video
Thank you very much.
Is it good for paint correction? I want to buy over the rupes if so.
It does work for paint correction. Thanks for watching.
It very noisy but ive heard and read good things about it
A lot of guyz are saying the BAUER 7.5 Amp 6 in. Long-Throw Random Orbit DA Polisher from harbor freight
is equal in performance. In fact, more than 1 guy has said they think these both are the same tool just rebranded.
!
Does the Bauer come with a lifetime guarantee?
@@ROJO25does the griots g9?
Did you switch the back plate for a 5" or stick to the 6" ?
We've done both. Thanks for watching.
@@Shoptoolreviews I mean, what are you using in the video ? Is it a 5" or a 6" ? Thanks for the reply.
I think you now have talked me out of a Torq
It's hard to beat the G9 for the price and warranty. We can't speak for the Torq. We tried to include them in our 23 Polisher shootout, but Torq wasn't interested, not sure why. Thanks for watching.
I bought a torq and it literally burnt out within one minute of use Just turned off and never turned back on. I just picked up a g9 today seems like a much better product
What about the G21?
Is this a DA polisher beginner ?
NICE VID..SUBCR...I HAVE AN 18 BLAC CORVETTE..IM TIRED OF SPENDING CLOSE 2 1-K..ON GETTING IT DETAILED...I HAVE EVERYTHING IN MY GARAGE WITH THE EXEOTION OF AN OTDITAL PAINT BUFFER..IT SEEMS THIS 1 IS A GOOD START.OH N WHAT PRODUCT DO YOU RECOMEND 4 ME TO TAKE OUT THE LIGHT SWIRL-SCRATCHES..N WAX AT THE SAME TIME??APRR. IT.
If you are planning to recome defects and apply a protection at the same time , then I highly recommend a All in one polish , cuts , polish and protects all at the same time , if you get this machine I suggest 3D speed and griots cutting pads or lake country SDO blue pads
The vibration on this thing is terrible in my experience. Other than that it is well built and comes at a good price.
I wonder if you have a defective unit. These G9 polishers are very smooth, very little vibration. Thanks for watching.
@@Shoptoolreviews No this is my second unit brought over a 8 month gap and both are terrible in terms of vibration.
@@TechCrazy I wonder how they are on returns of one seems like it has too much vibration?
I bought the G9...actually just got done using it...and it kinda sucks. It vibrates too much...wears my arms out quick... especially on side panels. I might go with Adam's or Rupes...
@@clintsingleton3846 Did...did I accidentally post my comments under a Call of Duty video? Nope, looks like you're in the wrong place, kid.
Have you found a good machine yet?
I had bought 2 different DA polishers off Amazon that were no more than 70 bucks each and did my first paint correction this week(with the help of my brother). I bought them months apart but it seems as though both were made in the same factory in china. Just had a different shell design with similar packaging. The vibration was pretty killer as a first timer but I got used to it. Looking to sell them and get a better tool as I think it was marring my paint in certain areas of the car.
@@thelonestranger777 I decided to go with Adam's 3" SK Pro because the majority of the panels I'm working on have a lot of dips and raised edges that you can't get to with a 5-6". It'll take slightly longer to get the job done, but I like having the precision and vibration is virtually nonexistent. As for the unit, it's way better than the G8. If I do decide to get a 5-6" orbital I'll definitely give Adam's a shot.
@@xxdemonshitxx Thanks for the input. I'm still trying to figure out which one's to get. Of course it's not a tool I'll use often, maybe once a year or so. I don't mind going for more expensive units. I do want a 3 inch for those tight areas as well. Was planning on getting the g9 based off the testimonies from this channels videos and it's price along with their their recommended 3 inch. If both the g9 and g8 come bundled on a super sale, it might push me towards their favor.
My first time polishing was an eye opening experience. I totally underestimated just how long it would take and began rushing at the end. It looks better than before but definitely not the results I was expecting. Really wishing I had one if those heated 2 car garages right now.
@@thelonestranger777 I would highly advise against the G8 and less so the G9. The G8 is stalling *garbage*. I was just starting out when I bought this and panels were taking such a long time on just a soft to mid clear coat and I didn't understand why. I watched tons of reviews and how-to's and the subject of rotation or spin was rarely mentioned, so I didn't pick up on it until I had already investigated all other possibilities- speed, pad type, compound. Once I moved to the SK Pro, I realized just how important it was to have that spin. The G8 would stall even with the slightest of pressure on the flatest of panels. The difference between the G8 and the SK Pro is night and day. I sound like an Adam's sales rep right now only because I don't have anything else to compare the G8 to. As I've mentioned before, the vibration of the G9 is the biggest con for that unit. There's gotta be something better out there that won't tire you out so fast.
Tell Tom to clean his expeditions
Still waiting for cordless XFE 150
It will be coming very soon. It placed 2nd to the Griots. Great machine.
Shop Tool Reviews great as I want to see if I purchase that or the rupes
Any update on longevity? Thanks
It's been a great polisher. Chase (the detailer) is still using it daily when he's not using a cordless. Some users have had issues with the trigger going out, but Griots replaces the unit with a new one under warranty. Our understanding is that they had a rolling change in production where they updated the triggers on all the new ones. Thanks for watching.
@@Shoptoolreviews Thank you!

@@chrome3720 Thanks, I was hesitant but now I'm ready to buy.
@@ax5017 oh I forgot to tell you I use the lake country yellow ccs foam pads on the g9 haven't tried the other colors they make a few different ones I only have used the yellow ones they work pretty good on boats and you can clean them
How about some promo codes for discounts.
Sorry, we don't have them. Thanks for watching.
These kind of reviews are kind of pointless if you dont tear it down and look at the construction and components. Also you have to use it extensively. Without that you cant have any opinion other than "it works"...eg you can polish paint with it. This is true for even the cheapest chinese knock off.
Great polisher on flat surfaces but terrible on the contoured surfaces found on most vehicles today. Very disappointed after all the hype.
Are you talking about stalling? We thought this did better than just about any other polisher with stalling. Thanks for watching.
Seems like a sponsored video
Not at all. Never been paid a penny from Griots and don't receive any form of compensation from them. I'm open to any concern you have with any of our specific points. Thanks for watching.
Doubt it, Griots are kinda stingy
nah these are legitimately the best for the $$
@@diljoe9678 that’s funny because i bought one and after the second car the G9 trigger stopped working. Super common issue google it.
