As a niner fan i never doubted that Purdy was going to be the starter this year. You could tell by the locker room and the way Purdy played it was gonna be his job to lose.

It definitely looked way closer to that by the time this video released. At the time I had done all the recording and research, it still seemed to be a question. Ultimately, I think they made the right choice!

I think people may be right about the Bears _still_ setting up Fields to fail. I mean really, calling _FOR_ designed QB rushes? Getting Moore may make it seem like they're abandoning this, then they use Moore only for slants. That's not targeting Fields.
The play-calling is. I saw two plays on game _recaps_ where the o-line deliberately ignored an edge rusher. I thought "okay, maybe it's a run play & the Packers are doing them a favor putting a defender where they won't do any good. Nope. They let an edge rusher through on a passing play.
Twice that I saw. On only a recap. Wtf? But Fields has become his own worst enemy. Stared at receivers even in college you say? I have two theories as to why, & neither are pleasant.
I'm gonna have to go through this again. Have some favorite moments but am woozy & should have started a comment & come back to it as things struck me. I gave blood today. That _could be_ why I'm woozy. Anyhow, as I say about that, "be positive" or rather B+.
That's a blood type joke... Not totally sure it works in writing though...

      @TheJumboPackage  Год назад

Haha I got the joke - it worked in writing! You raise a lot of interesting points. OLine definitely looked rough in pass blocking at times in this game which is unfortunate, but Fields also has such a major problem with holding onto the ball too long and causing sacks. There were definitely a few sacks caused by him that weren't on the OL. I could maybe see why they'd run less QB designed runs because its the first game and you want to keep him healthy, but I think I'd argue against myself there and say it makes more sense to open up with QB runs and create the threat so the defense has to adjust, which works in turn to open up the pass game. Ultimately, it looked bad for a majority of their first game, but its only week 1, so hopefully they can pick it back up!

@@TheJumboPackage I've had time to process all this. While most people have an All Or Nothing mentality (the NFL is scripted because I can't believe what I just saw, Earth must be flat because NASA photos of space are colorized, they can't be lying about One Thing, I feel betrayed so Daddy must be lying about EVERYTHING).
But if I see enough to suspect something, I won't shy away from it to *defend* something we elevate, like sports franchises & leagues. So bear (heh, Fields) with me here. Before last season I hadn't watched the NFL for about 8 years.
So my first impression of Fields was of someone Bored To Tears handing off the ball 3X between tossing slants. Yeah, he missed some, but worse, his receivers did too. While I noticed that they missed a _LOT_ of easy tosses, it's not something that sticks in one's head. Then I watched his college film, then a collection of his NFL plays.
He *doesn't* hold onto the ball under normal circumstances. Someone made a video of all of Fields' snaps in one preseason game & all of Bagent's in another since Bagent was doing well. & the strange missed receptions weren't there, but something worse. They lined up 3 receivers to one side, one was supposed to run a route, the others block. No one ran a route. Fields was left high & dry. On another play, the receiver got outside the defender then didn't even look back to see if Fields adjusted. They just let the play die.
Didn't see that with Bagent. Add this to what this ruclips.net/video/FiiK21VzI_o/видео.html video's maker describes as "a middle finger to the entire franchise" because he, someone who has studied this game for years has never seen such a thing (34.00). At 23.00 we see the RG (Nate Davis) run into the C. He didn't stumble.
      Wtf?
Add to this that the coaches didn't say or do anything about wither lack. When your players eff up, especially in a way that breaks up Your Play, the _first thing_ you do is make sure they don't do that again. You ask wtf or you sit them because they're delirious.
If the coaches don't question this, does that mean they're _okay_ with it? *Doesn't* that mean they're okay with it?
Now I'm starting to think about Fields hanging onto the ball. He _sees_ all this happening. It's happening right before his eyes. His own receivers continually dropping easy passes, his own linesmen sabotaging passing plays. Who on the team can he possibly talk to about this & who off the team would believe this even with film? _I'm_ having trouble with it & it's *My Theory!* Well, not a theory. Reporting collected observations.
Like are the Bears' coaches part of a secret ring that takes bets on QB sacks & injuries? Because _seeing this_ does not explain *why* it's happening which is why I have to suggest something stupid, because people not wanting to believe this will ask "why" they would do such a thing. As if not having an answer means it isn't happening.
But we have it on tape!
      It's all beyond weird.
