The WRs have a little more sustainability then RBs but only a few years longer. I would wager a bet that the majority of the players who made it to their late 30's in their career were either a QB, K or P. Maybe you get an occasional case of a lineman but any of the positions that rely on speed their careers don't last as long. So its a real testament to Jerry's hard work that stayed productive that late into his career.

In 2004, we got to 7-0, got the Super Bowl but lost. The 5-0 start by the Vikings was such a fluke, but the analysis doesn’t do it justice.
That defense wasn’t just top 10. They were unstoppable despite having no OL or running game on the other side to give them rest. They saved the first five games with key turnovers, and Bradford was playing lights out.
The OL was bad enough at the start of the year (Matt Kalil, Alex Boone and friends sucked) but then we were seeing the third string backups by midseason. Everyone says they have the worst OL, but watch a Vikings game from after week 5 and tell me you’ve seen a worse OL. There seemed to pressure instantly every play, without opposing teams blitzing anyone. TJ Clemmings one of the worst LTs I’ve ever seen (couldn’t stop anyone for a second, called for holding and false starts all the time). Matt Asiata totally shit starting RB (couldn’t get more than 3 yards on a run and out of the league soon after). Bradford had like a half second to throw most plays, to the point they had to scheme their offense around a useless line and he broke the completion percentage record with all the quick dumpoffs.
The defense was still great but they couldn’t singlehandedly win games anymore and stopped getting as many turnovers as the first five weeks. Also lost our head coach for a game due to eye surgery. All around mess and it absolutely sucked watching it lol

This video shows how, really, if you aren't able to make a statement in the playoffs/super bowl, a team ending up as the final undefeated team in the league can sometimes make no difference. I had no idea the Titans started 10-0 in 2008 for example, and the reason why I wasn't aware was purely because they didn't make the mark they *should have* and honestly that's just kind of depressing lol

2011 featured a lot of historically good offenses paired with equally historically bad defenses. The Packers, the Patriots, the Saints. Still, I never expected GB to get blown out on their own home field by a mediocre giants team (what helped them win it all in the end was that they actually had a good defense)

@@tommyl.dayandtherunaways820 While the 2011 Giants were a very talented defensive team, in terms of yards allowed they were 27th and in terms of points allowed they were 25th. The Giants only made the playoffs because of how dominant Eli Manning was in the 4th quarter, 15 4th quarter touchdown passes were a record at the time, and his 4,900 yards are still the most by a Quarterback in a Super Bowl Season. But you're totally right that the defense came together at the end and in the playoffs. That game against the 15-1 Packers is still one of the most shocking upsets I can remember, and honestly, that game could've been a lot more lopsided.

They blew out the Steelers on that MNF game though against a Steelers team playing WITHOUT Big Ben. Also, that Steelers team that year had superstars. They were exceptional and had some big plays that year in games without Big Ben. You don't play your cards then and Steelers already saw it. The Colts did not even play Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Seattle, and San Diego until after week 10. They were beating up on the 6-10 Ravens, Browns, Titans, 49ers, Rams, and Texans in the first half. The Steelers played a tougher schedule.

Would’ve gotten the ball back and based on the first drive, go down and score again.. then a Falcons receiver tackled a Panthers guy and the refs gave Carolina a 15 yard unnecessary roughness penalty. Falcons went on to get a TD that drive and the Panthers looked like garbage the rest of the game. It really was a bad refs call that swung the momentum and changed the course of the game.
