Two things I did not expect.
1. That I would tear up watching Bertie Gilbert talk about a frog.
2. That Bertie Gilbert would wipe a tear from his own eye the EXACT moment my eyes were brimming with tears.
LITERALLY SAME
Oh! Stop it! I wasn’t until you mentioned it. This is contagious.
This is so wholesome. You’re a very likeable person Bertie Gilbert.
Izzy The Hobbit oh shucks that’s very nice of you to say
i've never felt more soulfully connected to a man appreciating kermit thee frog in my life
"I get quite nervous talking with masculine people" WHAT A MOOD
That ‘I love you too’ footage always melt me.
I appreciate the Rainbow Connection in the background throughout the video

It is amazing how we end up romanticizing some little things in life to the point it almost feels like something bigger than us. I think we do it to survive
Orein Project ditto
I feel like i just watched a particularly introspective episode of Come Outside and now I'm all warm and fuzzy
Anna Woods this was absolutely the desired effect!
@@BertieGilbert1 good!! Please tell Kermit I love him and he looks very handsome on his new plinth :)
I’m a lifelong fan of the muppets and a puppeteer myself and thank you for being so genuine about this character and the man who brought him to life. So many people treat Kermit as an ironic meme but you really hit on the head why this character is so special and has lasted so long. Cheers!
jerry harney so glad this resonated with you! he’s endured for a reason, beyond the memes
bertie cradling kermit in his arms like he's his child for this whole video is the sweetest thing I've ever seen
if I could like this a thousand times I would
Grace Lowe i don’t want to drop him!!!
Lovely
I never felt like people understood what made Kermit so special, so it makes me very happy to see that you saw the same things I saw in him. Thank you for finding a way to articulate it with so much care.
Ok I cried a bit...
The Muppet Show was never aired where I lived, I learned about it when I was all grown up.
But I have always had an unexplainable deep love and admiration for Kermit.
Nice one
Jim Hensen is a hero to me. This video is honestly, so relatable to me. I had a banana scratch and sniff sticker on my Muppet Movie VHS tape case, I used to play it every day and scratched a hole through the tape case.
I heard once that Jim Henson described Kermit as often playful and mischievous, but that we don't see that side of him as much anymore because of all the responsibility placed on him.
💛💛💛 this is so lovely, as an autistic person The Muppets and Jim Henson's other creations have been one of my special interests for as long as I can remember and I've never seen someone explain Kermit's character so well 💛💛💛
Doing an essay at college (EPQ) and chose Jim henson. I have always been obsessed with all things henson and muppets but learning about it all in so much more detail has depened my love for Jim, what a wonderful man. Thanks for sharing ur admiration for our little green hero, im desperate to venture into puppetry 👏💜
Hannah Walters as a kid, my dream was to be a puppeteer. guess this’ll do for now
I really needed something like this rn and it was nice to just see a person sweetly talking about something that means so much to him
Niamh O Loughlin :’-)
kermit is so relatable and that is why we all love him so much
"should i do the voice"
"no"
depressionnapss that’s our dynamic summed up in one exchange
Kermit and The Muppets were a big part of my childhood. The last song of the Muppet Movie is so damn inspiring it gives me chills.
I think that this is so wholesome and lovable considering how much Kermit has been an icon for not only me but the rest of the world
Kermit is made of fleece, not felt.
Whovian Friend SILENCE! OBEEEYY!
Kermit is made out of Antron Fleece.
Slapstick Genius Finally! Someone who knows!
i always liked him as a character because i'm nervous and kinda awkward like him. thank you for putting it into words
Born in 1969, when Sesame Street began... grew up with all of the muppets, Kermit has always been my favorite. Thank you for a wonderful tribute. Thank you, Jim Henson. RIP Caroll Spinney, Big Bird and Oscar, what a Legacy!!
1. I love that your musings on a frog puppet feel like a fully functioning short film rather than just another YT vlog.
2. I love that covid-19-imposed staying in is giving me time to watch more of your films (silver lining).
3. I love the way you pronounce complex, with the stress on the second rather than the first syllable, probably a result of watching too many American cartoons in your childhood. This is not something I would normally like, but with you it just seems right.
4. In a previous life as a motorcycle despatch rider I once had tom deliver a package to Jim Henson. Sadly he didn't answer the door himself and I didn't meet him.
5. Before that I worked in several different record shops in London, such that now whenever I see a shelf full of records I have to know what they are. Dang I wanna know. My shelf has the soundtrack to the first Muppet movie.
6. Thank you. Just thank you
The ending shots arguably made me more emotional than anything else
I watched this with my own kermit!!! he thoroughly enjoyed :)))
That's so sweet! I'm glad he got to watch and feel appreciated
I always loved Miss Piggy 🐷. She was bad ass and didn’t take any shit 💖
She was also a bitch
Kermit is the best!
I also had that old Kermit muppet, it was my mom's i think, from the 70's! still have it somewhere... i remember i put a fishing string in his hand that went in his body and down to my arm, where i would pull it to move his arm! :D
this makes me wanna happy cry for way too long, this was absolutely beautiful. i love bertie’s videos because they always feel like a short film, even the ones that aren’t films. they always tell a story, and i love that.
zoe this is such a lovely comment. i always try to carry over certain things i’ve learnt doing narrative stuff when making smaller vlogs
All of your videos are my favourite video. They always just feel so warm (?) I don't really know how to explain.
Naim Bess it’s cold out there! can all do with some warmth
@@BertieGilbert1 yes absolutely!
Jim Henson taught me the world is full of wonder and magic. It's always nice to see other people who remember that as well.
I’ve never really been a huge muppets fan... just never watched it but here I am watching this whole thing and realizing I have MISSED out
Its one of the funniest shows ever made. In one of my favorate episodes Ms. Piggy said lets do a wedding sketch it will be funny then Kermit said ok as long as it will be funny. She got an actual minister the whole thing was a trick to gfet him to marry her.
this is probably my favourite thing of yours i've ever seen. i love it. very lovely, wholesome content. thanks.
As someone who watched the original muppet movie every day as a kid, this content felt made for me.
But seriously, I fucking love everything about this lovely video, you're such a great creator.
feel like this should be played at a museum ... is there a Kermit museum?
Lily Jackson yes it’s my house
There's a Henson exhibition in New York. Definitely worth going to.
I've been thinking about Kermit and his portrayal of stress and loneliness for a while now. This is exactly what I needed. Thank you
this is the sweetest and most well put together video I've ever watched
as a lifelong muppet fanatic this is the content ice been SEARCHING FOR and i would whole heartedly like to say thank you
I watched Son of Rambow on repeat when I was about 12 and Bertie was the first RUclips channel I ever subscribed to a few years after that. Now I'm 22 and seeing you both as friends and artistic collaborators makes me feel really nostalgic. I'm glad you both have thriving careers today and I'm still around to witness it 💕
P.s I loved this video!
gosh this video actually made me cry, i can't believe after all these years of watching ur short films u have appreciated kermit just as much as i do :,)
jet he’s a good lad, the best
This video hit me right where it hurts. I grew up on the muppets, and Jim's other work, and this video encapsulated exactly how I've always felt. It's not always easy to explain why a little green frog can mean so much to someone, but I'd say you really hit the nail on the head with this. Sincerely, thank you for this.
I just... comeback every now and then to this short and sweet video. Oh bertie you have created a piece of confort andnaffection like not so many people are capable of doing. Thank you.
quite literally was just thinking about kermit thank u
his net worth is a ver-million bucks
I'm awfully sick right now, and this video feels to me like a warm cup of tea in bed. Please never stop filming- either it be youtube videos, short films, full length films- anything. For the past five years, your content has made me feel calm and at home, when in reality I was very far from it. All I really want to say is, thank you. :)
Michelle Mostovlanski this is such a lovely comment. thank you for sticking with me, means the world. have a lovely day x
@@BertieGilbert1 omg thank you for replying! That really made my day :)
I always wondered what type of frog Kermit was... I didn't realise he was a 'relatable ass frog'
pimbolammy yes sam-e they are indigenous to the Hollywood swamps
This video is so ungodly well made that it hurts my heart, kermit has always been one of those characters to me as well, and probably the answer to my muppet movie obsession in the early stages of childhood. you couldn't have done this any better and for that, i thank you.
This is just so nice and sweet to watch. I’ve been a fan of the month it’s all my life and Kermit is my absolute favorite so what you said about him is right on the money
Kermit 'at rest' has always seemed very Happily Serine to me. I see that as his base that he's always trying to get back to...and the rest of the cast is constantly knocking him out of that space! Lol
this video is important!!! kermit is like one of the most famous yet somehow underrated characters ever
Kermit is Awesome Nuff said.
The love story of the century...
Romeo and Juliet whoooo?
i dont know how this stumbled across my timeline but im so happy it did it was such a sweet little look into the influence of Kermits' character
My one dream is to meet kermit. He has gotten me through so many panic attacks. I love the muppets, they always make me feel so safe. I worked muppet vision 3d when I was younger and it was so amazing to see them everyday
A true child's hero, Kermie! Love your film.
That thou, light legged froggie of the stage,
Through some melodious plot of emerald skin and large eyed wonderfulness,
Float upon the midnight with croaky throated ease
-John Keats, "ode to Kermit"
So happy this showed up in my recommended! Not only is it a beautifully made video, but I really admire how sincerely you talk about our sweet green friend. I'm a long-time fan of the Muppets, and this year I listened to Jim Henson's biography. He was such a kind soul to help bring some magic and fun to our lives. Safe fo say both that book and this video got me teary-eyed. Thanks for making it!
revisited this video again and saw that it's a year old now! i've revisited this video multiple times for its comfort. ty bertie for giving me something to latch on in times of despair :^)
bro i’ve been learning and loving the song rainbow connection on guitar for the last week and to see one of my fave youtube creators make this is just so heartwarming ❤️
I shed tears kermit is my idol... thank you

SkipidyDoWop my pleasure!

My english class watched the 2010 version of macbeth and I legit had a heart attack seeing you as fleance
Legend says Bertie Gilbert is the best person in the world and is literally so wholesome :)
bertie and kermit (the most iconic duo)
my heart is so full right now, thank you for putting into words my love for this green long-legged froggy 💚
Nicole Vaselli
I initially thought bill was there bc he's the friend that does the best kermit voice not bc he's a diy guy SLFKSKFL
Amilliahh I DO THE VOICE. ONLY ME
@@BertieGilbert1 and it is FLAWLESS, absolutely mad
I love that Beatles shirt and I love this video... the muppets mean so much to me and Kermit is amazing. I love Kermit!
You're videos are so feel good in a very nostalgic way, you are the kind of person i aspire to be .Also spent like two minutes figuring out it was matt baume you were watching.
