This was probably the most compelled I was to learn more as well being the period of history I had the least knowledge on. In fact I have added a few books to my Amazon wishlist about the monarchies around Europe.
The line "I was chosen by God not by the church" is depicting the separation between church and state. Also, by this time, Sweden had become protestant and separated from the Catholic Church.
I think you will love the 4th song from the Swedish version. "En livstid I krig" make sure to watch the live version from Gothemburg.
That and Karl XII actually put the crown on his own head and not by a church official because he truly believed that he was chosen by heaven

I was really interested in this era. I will let Lacey know we have a request to dig into the album more. I know he will love this as well. With the history channel do they cover the periods without having to listen to the songs. I don't want to spoil any future reactions.
@PopCultureProductions nicead all the carolus rex songs are also in swedish and are from the point of view from the swedish soldier the English one is the POV from international or the whole of Sweden also if you do the last song ruina imperii is only in Sweden as it's a very special song in Sweden showing the point of view of the Sweden soldiers during the end of the war

This is why I love doing the videos. Especially Sabaton brings such a rich learning environment. I had never even heard of an octal numeral system. Just spent a large chunk of time reading up about them. Thanks for widening my mathematical horizons.
