Not gonna lie, the Swedish version hits harder but both are equally amazing.
I like the Swedish version more
@@mississippiriver9230 Yeah me too
i prefer the english version. hard to relate to language i don't speak.
probably the reason why i prefer the version of "last dying breath" where there is the speech of Major Gavrilović over the guitarsolo.
@@TheWolvesCurse You have a point, I don't speak Swedish myself either. However, I do find that Swedish being the band's native language, their going to put more into a song about their home country in their home tongue. Plus I just love the ending "Once Again, Sing Carolus Song" and how it hits in Swedish compared to the ending "To the Skies, See Carolus Rise" in the English version. Just a personal thing for me really, we all have different tastes.
:)
Den engelska är bättre
Charles the XII of Sweden (Carolus Rex) came to the throne at the age of 15, by the age of 24 he had defeated the combined armies of Denmark, Norway, The Polish- Lithuanian Commonwealth, Russia and some of the German States, in the Great Northern War, Russia was the last enemy standing, under Peter The Great, Russia sued for peace, Charles refused, then invaded again, facing defeat at Poltava, the battle that marked the founding of the Russian Empire, (This is a cut down history of the Great Northern War) He died a few years later in Norway, at the age of 36, once again at war with most of northern europe, killed by a sharp shooter during a siege.
Malcur wasn’t it the Prussian Empire at the time
@@Archangel1862 great northern war was 1700-1721. About 150 years before prussia became a world power and 50 years before they were relevant.
@@Archangel1862 no, Russian, Prussian wouldn't come about for decades after.
No one knows who killed King Charles XII -- his killer is still a mystery after 300 years
hullmees666 the Prussian Empire was created in 1525
When he sings about being "destined to rule alone", it probably springs from the fact that he wasnt really interested in women or marriage (why this is we might never know), he was interested in making the Swedish empire great. Edit: wording
@Jacob J419 True, but in this time and age, producing an heir was expected of a monarch.
@@maurelius22 and I mean the guy was 15
@@kristupas_1268 Have you been living under a rock?
15 year olds got children back in the days.
Age of consent in Sweden is 15. It used to be 14.
Its wrong that he wasn't interested in women that was a rumor and it has been said that he spoke number of times for his attraction to women but didn't bother bcuz it would take his attention away from war which he was so fond of.
Karl XII became the king of Sweden at the age of 15. He personally lead a beach landing in Estonia against the Polish and Russians at the age of 18. He was first ashore and took the fortifications with relative ease, even though outnumbered. Also, at the age of 18, he won the battle of Narva. Outnumbere 4:1 (40 000 entrenched Russians, besieging the Narva garrison of 1800 men, against 10 000 Swedes) Less than 1 000 Swedes died during the battle but almost 20 000 Russians died both during the battle and during the rout since the stampede over the bridge caused it to crumble and send the men drowning in the ice cold water in the river below. The Russians described the attacking Swedes as "demons appearing from the mist". 2 more impressive battles are the battle of Warsaw where only 1900 Swedish cavalrymen and 60 infantry (1960 men in total without artillery) fended off a Polish army of 10 000 strong. The cavalry charged in and fought fierce melee combat and only in the later stages of the battle did the Swedish carolean infantry emerge from the tall grass and fire their muskets into the Polish ranks, breaking and routing the Polish forces and thus causing them to retreat. This battle lead up to the battle of Fraustadt where Carl Gustaf Rehnskiöld and his 9400 men attacked a Russian, Polish and Prussian army of 20 000 men (The Russians also had artillery while the Swedes did not). The Caroleans used fire-and-advance tactics where they would not stop until they would see the white in their enemy's eyes. *Drums stops* "NED PÅ KNÄ!" The commander shouts. "SIKTA!... GE FYR!" The range was only 30 meters at the first volley. Almost every musket ball hits its target and Russian after Russian falls. Then the Caroleans draws they swords and charges with both bayonets and rapiers. The Polish-Russian lines crumble while the Prussian cavalry has fallen back to behind the frozen lake as they watch the Swedes trying to cross it. "We're going to catch the mice alive! they shouted at us." one of the Swedish soldiers from Gotland writes in his diary. They laughed at the Swedes slipping and falling on the ice. But as soon as the Swedes were able to mount up again, they quickly routed and fled the field. The main army of the Russians, Polish and Prussians are now retreating while the Swedish infantry has turned the Russian canons against the fleeing army.
The Swedish Caroleans were kind of special. The infantrymen were trained to operate artillery and ride horses, the cavalrymen were trained with muskets and bayonets and to operate artillery and the artillerymen were trained to ride horses and to fire muskets and use bayonets. Combine this with undoubted faith in God and that it doesn't matter if you flee or charge into battle, your death is already preplanned by God, they become a deadly weapon. Put 10 000 of these in an army and they can take out Russian armies 5 times their number without fear.
Edit: Karl was a very cocky king. The phrase "What I said was said in heaven, and so it shall be done" is reflecting just that. it's almost as if you can turn that sentence around and say "What was said in heaven was said by me, and so it shall be done" He had his own bible, he had more respect from his own people than any other king or ruler has ever had matching Napoleon Bonaparte and Alexander the Great because he was up there with them. And he was an equally good as, if not better commander than, them.
@PHONOGRAPH I feel you, but no one outside of britain give a damn about your child eating queen.
@@gustavusadolphus4103 Not true, there is also the entire rest of the commonwealth.
@PHONOGRAPH no one cares about your queen.
@@anon8740 they dont like her that much, most of them want to be free from that
Good of you to say Karl XII and not charles
Carolus rex the album is about the swedish empire there is a english version and a swedish version
in my opinion, the Swedish version tells more the story from our view and the English more of an outsider's view. (yeah I'm Swedish)
@@Templarofsteel88 thx for the reply
Templarofsteel88 which is just so brilliant!
sabaton winged hussars reaction
By the gods YES!
Then the Winged hussars arrived!!!

Sabaton has a history channel called sabatonhistory and it’s hosted by Indy neidell and have gone over this song if you want to know more about the history of this song and how they made it, But they have a Swedish version of this song so that’s why it said English version.
Thank you very much for this information that I didnt know I needed, but am much thankful for.
You could do all the Sabaton songs and it would never get old! Love this band! Thank you Billy!!
The Swedish version is AMAZING! I love this song! I love my Swedish heritage. ❤️
One again an easy click... love the Sabaton!
The album Carolus Rex was relesed 2012. its a 2 disck cd. 1 disc in English and 1 disc in Swedish. They will go to USA this fall with 24 new show as they will open for Judas Priest
The first time the were in America they opened for Accept. Last time they went to America Accept opened for them.
Yep one of their best, but Sabaton should be appreciated live more.
very true, i saw them live in february in stockholm and it was probably the best live show ive ever seen. their songs are powerful in studio but live is a completely different thing.
What are you talking about? I've seen them live now 11 times since 2009. That is once a year on avrage. And they got a loyal evergrowing fanbase. I have all the original band members signatures, got a drumstick, and I wished for the song "Rise of Evil" at a show and got it :)
I dig the white fist on ur hat, bro. Metal Brothers UNITE
Please react to sabaton - purple heart and amaranthe - endlessly an amaranthe wedding. Songs like these two are the reason why i love metal
I love their songs no bullets fly, resist and bite,to hell and back, night witches, and Sparta. All bangers🔥
Heroic stoner I live three smoking snakes, that song is enough to make a grown man cry, and that’s ok
*Long Live The King.*
Big boi Carolus Rex wasn't known alot, but when people talk about him he was one hell of a ruler
So when people saw him on his death bed,it was depressing as fuck,he's also a swedish king
Humanitys Last Breath - Abyssal Mouth
Vildhjarta - den helige anden
Terra Tenebrosa - where shadow has teeth
This gift is a curse - monument for dead gods

All their song's are based on true battles in history. The band is dubbed "The heavy metal historians". Check out "The last Battle"
Your reaction to Shiroyama from Sabaton is what hooked me on the band as I’d never heard them before. Thank you.
My favorite is by the new album
The great war
The red baron
And this I show you the link
Moments
Sabaton must hit so much harder for people who went to war and know what they’re talking about first hand
Saw them live a few years ago opening for Iron Maiden, and I got hooked instantly. This song live is awesome.
Should check out Metal Machine and Metal Ripper by Sabaton as well.
Metal Machine has an awesome bass line and guitar riff. Great song overall.
Metal Ripper has a chorus that gives you goosebumps. Did for me the first time I heard it on a Sabaton playlist.
Metal Crüe as well. Check out the 2008 graspop performance of Metal machine/crüe
The Swedish version is so much better than the English version.
Did he say Carlos Rex?. Should have got the live version. There's also a Swedish version.
This is my favorite song by sabaton.
I see u haven't reacted to Ghost division live from woodstook
Could you do a Casting Crowns "only Jesus", reaction have not seen them on here.
To bad the lord his protector did not protect Carl XII from the bullet that may or may not have been friendly fire.
Karl not Carl
This album was released in 2012 And was released in both English and Swedish versions
Check out Bismarck (the video) and40:1 live at Woodstock
This history is real, you must see Uprising, Ace in Exile, Winged Hussars, 40:1 etc.
You should do a double take on the song A lifetime of war and En livstid av krig (eng subs) It's the same song in Swedish and English. The swedish version is from a swedish soldiers point of view. The english version is more of an overview of the 30 year war between catholics and protestants.
I’m Swedish and listing to the music all the time
Hi there mate.... you've got a few Sabaton songs reactions.... got a few more suggestions for you. Gott Mit Uns, Primo Victoria, and also To Hell and Back... the reason I suggest the last one was that it's based of a poem buy Lt. Audie Murphy. Love the channel mate. Keep cracking
My favourite sabaton songs is carolus rex swedish version and 1648 swedishversion
One very important thing to remember is what he said in battle.
-My men FOLLOW me.
He did not say go there or attack this place and therefore the soldiers felt comfortable with his orders together with the successes he had before that.
He might be the last king that actually lead his men into battle, my history memory is not what it used to be so please forgive me if I'm wrong but that is how it worked back then. Anyway maybe a friendly reminder may have to be sent to the leaders of today.
Let the man work. 🤣
You need to check out The price of a mile or Cliffs of Gallipoli by them!
I like Listening To Sabaton
Carolus Rex is from 2012. All of it is about Swedish history, mostly reigns of Gustavus Adolphus(early 17th century) and Carl XII(first years of 18th century), when Sweden was at its highest in terms of power. There is both english and swedish version of the album, most sabaton die-hards prefer Swedish, even in the US.
Also as a bonus track on this album, their cover of "In the Army now"...might be worth reacting to.
Carolus Rex aka the guy that lost our place as a super power because he got cocky and over extended.
Great, thanks! \m/
Gustavus Adolphus=Simba lol
You should react to “Three Wooden Crosses” by Randy Travis or “Long Black Train” by Josh Turner. Both really good songs. You could listen to the duo with both of the singers I mentioned if you want.
you should hear the swedish version, there is a video with eng sub, best version
The Red Baron Sabaton
I love Sabaton :)
Being Polish, I thought nothing tops their Poland songs…but this song…THIS SONG…doesn’t rock…it RULES.
You should react to sabaton history Carolus Rex

SABATON - The Lion From The North
You should do the one with the video of the swedish/russian war, great video and even better with the swedish lyrics (probably since i'm Swedish :D)
It was released in Swedish (more popular version) and English.
This is piece of swedish history. Carolus is a real man... Karl the 12th. Sweden was the ruler of europe
Lion from the north /Lejonet Från Norden
For future Sabaton lyric videos, if you see that it is done by Nuclear Blast, avoid them. While they did help produce the albums, their lyric videos suck in that they bash you over the head with promoting the bands during the videos rather than producing a good video. I'm glad Sabaton doesn't use them for their videos any more. For the older albums, if you want a good lyric video, check out the RUclipsr Piscator. He has a lot of Sabaton on his channel and his lyric videos are way better than what Nuclear Blast does.
Loki Odinson ^this
official anthem of God Emperor of Mankind
If you like how Iron Maiden and Sabaton tell stories than you should listen to Gloryhammer. All three of their albums tell one big story
*ALT FOR NORGE*
Lovebites - Shadowmaker, i know you have a lot of request, but this takes the cake my man, fast drums and in your face dual solos from japan, its FIRE!!

React to sabaton- long live the king

Carlos Rex lol
Listen to the Swedish version, I don’t speak it, but I think it is better. The text fits better than the English, which feels clunky at times.
Check out there HEROES album. Old album but great music. You talk about working out sometimes and Sabaton is my workout band.
Sabaton Bismarck
Gonna throw some new bands after greatest show on earth has been made ;)

"Forward Caroleans! The fate of the enemy has come! Crush them! Throw them through the gates of hell!"
Do one off their great war album.
Karl den XII was good at vageing war, but he was bad at finishing them.
