@@TheSkyGuy77 I'd agree that they're not subtle if you're paying attention. I was just saying they're *more* subtle because they're at least making an attempt to hide it instead of just marching soldiers in and taking over. Although I guess that might change soon because of Taiwan.

The thing I find interesting about WW2 is that the monarchs of the majority of the countries Hitler invaded fled to the UK but still sent messages to their country to bring hope to those still living there. The only monarch that didn't flee was King Christian X of Denmark, who walked around on a horse in Copenhagen every day without guards he quickly became a symbol of resistance.
Noticing the gradual and incremental approach is very key. It is SO important for modern times. It is always easy to recognize in retrospect but these types of things are still happening today and unfortunately very close to home.
My grandma has often told how she survived as a child when Düsseldorf was bombed. She must have experienced pure horror. I hope we will never ever have the terrors of war in Europe again. Still we have them in many areas of the world. I can't understand why mankind just cannot work together and how power-hungry people can live with bringing death and loss to so many people... Greetings from Germany!
oversimplified videos are the ones that you don't have to take in to seriously in terms of detail like the aliens i guess 😅, but sometimes you got to really pay attention on the small details too for example, in one moment i forget which video, a country sneezes, which represents it's having a small pandemic, I really like oversimplified videos for it
fun fact: Operation Catapult, a British plan to neutralise or destroy French ships to prevent them falling into German hands in the aftermath of the Allied defeat in the Battle of France. The British bombardment of the base killed 1,297 French servicemen, sank a battleship and damaged five other ships, for a British loss of five aircraft shot down and two crewmen killed. The British attack was almost universally condemned in France and resentment festered for years over what was considered a betrayal by their former ally. Marshal Philippe Pétain, who was appointed the prime minister of France on 16 June, severed diplomatic relations with the United Kingdom on 8 July.
Chamberlain actually kept working for churchhill during the war. He got a cancer diagnosis some time after resigning but him and churchill kinda chose to keep it secret for moral purposes. He didn't live long after the war.
I had a WWII fighter pilot game that I loved to play growing up, so I knew a little bit about stuff like Dunkirk and the Russian attack on Finland from the campaign. But it's even more interesting now that I know the context behind it and why it was all happening
Honestly the saddest thing wasn’t even the fact that Italy was chemical bombing a small African nation that was using wooden spears against tanks it’s the fact that they nearly lost basically did and then had to come back with chemical bombs to win against as much smaller nation using wooden spears against their tanks and airplanes
Thank you so much for reacting to oversimplified! History is something I had always wanted you to check out. Fun fact. In many major cities in the UK and Europe, People are still finding old unexploded bombs. Often Meaning that thousands of people need to be evacuated from an area while EOD come's in to see to it. The most recent to my knowledge being 3 weeks ago in Exeter UK, Where a roughly 1000lb bomb was detonated by EOD.
One thing I rarely ever see mentioned, is the reason why the rescue at Dunkirk was such a resounding success for Britain. It could’ve easily ended in a bloodbath and a complete failure. Shortly before the Raid on Dunkirk, Hitler personally ordered the Wehrmacht to stop and take a break for a few days. The Invasion of France was going ‘too well’ in Hitler’s eyes as he heavily suspected an Allied Trap. This eventually turned out to be unfounded, but by the time he had realized this, it was already to late. British Troops were already in the midst of evacuating, when the German Army finally arrived. Many Historians called this Hitlers first and greatest Mistake. It is believed that without this short mandatory break, Britain’s Army in France would’ve been annihilated, Churchill probably forced to resign and his successor would’ve had to make peace with Germany. Britain had its best troops in France and would they have been wiped out, there would have been little chance to survive a land invasion. It is scary to think about how one little mistake may have completely changed the war and if Hitler listened to his Generals (who basically all opposed this break) History could’ve been completely different and the Third Reich could’ve won the War…
I’m happy that you’ve chosen to react to Oversimplified and look forward to more reactions to his videos. Regarding Churchill, my opinion of the man is that he was every bit as crazy, murderous and racist as Hitler...which made him the perfect man to lead Britain against him. Churchill’s decisions during the war, such as attacking the French Navy, re-routing food supplies from Bengal and making false promises to Eastern European nations, can all be argued to have been morally terrible but necessary actions to Ensure Britain’s survival. He did what he felt he needed to. Still, I find it highly amusing that he was fired not long after the war ended. I love Churchill as a historical figure and would gladly watch a TV series of him that is honest and upfront about the sort of person he was. Apparently the guy genuinely enjoyed being a soldier in WW1. Like I said; crazy.
Fun fact: The Altmark incident is the incident where British sailor on Destroyer Cossack became Thomas Cochraine. Cossack's crew change to German colours and get close enough to the Altmark to board the ship it self and liberated 300 British POWs and the POWs' First impression by the Cossack's is "THE NAVY'S HERE!!!" Battlecry and this make the German invaded Norway because they let the Cossack go in to the Fjords where the Altmark is hiding. And the first hour of the invasion 1 German Advance Heavy Cruiser sunk because of the century old fortress in Oslofjord and it's the scene in the movie The King's Choice this made the German postpone and adjust the plan to invade Norway and missed out the Nordic Royal Family with the nation's gold reserves. And earlier in the war the German Advance Battleship Bismarck got spotted by a Norway's Seaplane Tender and let the British to chase Bismarck and The Hood got destroyed and became a British's Pearl Harbor and Bismarck got rekt by the entire Royal Navy available at the times.
So happy your finally reacting to oversimplified! After watching part 2 could you watch the video Attack on Pearl Harbor by Montemayor because I would love to see what your thoughts on it are!
Now that you've starting to Oversimplified channel, I recommend The Operations Room's channel. The channel is all about explaining military maneuvers for certain battles, currently it's on Desert Storm with a few other battles in between.
I watched the end of the samurai videos by extra credits recently. Fun fact Japan actually invaded the U.S via two islands in Alaska and we had to clear them off. They still find fighter parts every few years if I remember right. Also the Poles are bosses. They held out for a month and were basically abandoned by France because they wanted to do trench warfare. And England was supposed to start bombing Germany but didn't in fear of retaliatory bombings. The poles did work on cracking the German code and even rebuilt a enigma machine which they sent a copy to the allies. Further more troops escaped fought in the invasion of Normandy and Polish pilots shot down the most planes in the bombings of Britain.

Good reaction as always Luke. I don't remember if you watched the episode on the Americn Civil War or not, but if you haven't; I really think you should, you would like it a lot. Have a good day.
The Czech army was larger than Germany in terms of divisions. it was also vastly more mechanized, possibly the largest in the world at the time. The British and French air force was so small that they felt they had to give in to Germany's demands so they could buy time to build an Air Force. The Military commanders of both countries said maintain peace at any cost so they could build up. Chamberlain also famously said he would of had to work with the Soviets to stop the Nazis. Winston Churchill wanted Chamberlain to basically be a domestic Prime Ministers while he focus outside the country, but unfortunately he was sick and died. So he gets mocked here but is no where near the joke he is portrayed as. The respect Churchill gives him is the clearest example of this in my mind. The German army ran out of gas and had massive mechanical issues entering Austria. The news reels showed this powerful military, not the stalled tanks that had people hauling fuel from gas stations. If the French/British had a better intelligence network or diplomatic delegations to Austria they probably would of known and possibly made different choices. The German Army became vastly more mechanized because of being given Czechoslovakia. It gets called a mechanized force but less than 10% of it was when it invaded the Soviets. More than 90% was on foot or supplied by horses, not mechanical. The Maginot Line also extended to the coast. It was not as heavily defended but it existed so the idea the French had not prepared is just false. It was the vast movement of troops into Belgium to try to stop and the Germans, and the fleeing civilians that did more to jam cause a breakdown of the defense. And a few incompetent French Commanders. One general in charge of the Ardennes was given the option to have the entire french Air Force at his command as the Germans started their push. He refused to use it at first under the belief he didn't need it, so commanders in other sections made use of it. His superiors had seen the thrust coming, and moved to counter but he didn't make use of the air force or reinforcements before it was too late. If you want a modern example to justify military build up and spies as a means towards peace, the 1930s have some very good examples.
Please look more into the atrocities Japan committed against China (specifically Nanking), it gets so overlooked because of the Holocaust (not trying to belittle a horrifying event at all, just pointing out that it's not common knowledge). They didn't call it "The R*pe of Nanking" for nothing.
And the Unit 731 was more ruthless in war crimes than the SS. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unit_731 Worst crimes and atrocities in world history. And on them no one held a tribunal like Nuremberg.
5:42 Like the name suggests, it's Oversimplified. Germany was in a bad place after WW1, had several violent communist uprisings (four in 1918-19 and a fifth in 1923) that all failed, and the ideology reared its ugly head again when the Great Depression hit the country. This video completely glosses over the communist contribution to the collapse of the democratic German government. And the part where the democratic government itself was really badly corrupt and a large part of the of the "moderate" political elite didn't really care about the long-term fate of the country as long as they were raking in enough money to keep their parties going and had enough left over to escape abroad if things got too revolutiony. In the end, the democratic conservatives basically had a choice between bringing the Nazis (who would probably stab them in the back) into the government, bringing the Communists (who would probably stab them in the back) into the government, or letting the government stay in deadlock and incapable of passing legislation until the Nazis or Communists decided they were ready to start a civil war.
Clicked on the notification so fast! Definitely check out more oversimplified. It’s a great channel. Also I hope your day is amazing and that you and your family are well! ❤️
Well, the "Poland splitting" is pretty unfair for the USSR, actually, the USSR just took back what Poland invaded while Russia was in civil war (Courzon line territories ), so while the germans invaded Poland, the USSR just took what Poland stole from them years before.
Agree. The video says NOTHING about how the USSR had proposed since 1933 to create a coalition of France, England and the USSR against the Nazis, how the USSR was ready to send 120 divisions to help Czechoslovakia, if only England and France could reach an agreement with Poland (which was super hostile to the USSR and took the territories of western Ukraine and Belarus following the war of 1919-1921) or Romania for the passage of Soviet troops. England and France did EVERYTHING that Germany would attack the USSR before attacking France. And how USSR helped the Republic Spain with troops and munitions to fight fascist Franco (which was supported by fascist Italy and nazi Germany).
Awesome, enjoyed your reaction video very much and will definitely check out others of yours! Couldn't help but notice your hat as a D&D player. Assuming you are on as well? Oh, and thank you so much for you service! Mad respect.

Dude, not sure its something you could do for the channel but maybe more in your own time, but if you want to learn more on ww2 I suggest watching ww2 in colour on netflix, very informative, goes fairly in depth into some of the key moments of ww2, plus seeing previously black and white footage in colour to me at least makes it feel more real. Good content man.
I think a little of the pressure could have been lessened, but Wilson had a vendetta against all European monarchs, Germany in particular; he would have done everything he could have to hurt Germany. Communism would have led to a fascist reaction as communists were already present in Germany before the WW1 in the form of extreme social democrats. It is interesting to think though, what would have happened.
6:44 I think what's great about most of Europe and us guys and gals here in America is that after all the wars and fights and shady dealings, we won't "pull the trigger" when it counts and instead go in the direction of human compassion. I mean all of us have been trying to get rid of slavery for the past 300 years and we've mostly succeeded, we got a bill of human rights, nato, our nations aren't built as power=power=power but more of a "if you have power over people, you have a obligation to those people you rule" kinda thing. Don't know if anyone gets what i'm saying but we are just more moral when push comes to shove than other nations have been or will be.

Yesssss I've been waiting for this. Love the work you've been doing and wish you the best.
Please look more into the atrocities Japan committed against China (specifically Nanking), it gets so overlooked because of the Holocaust (not trying to belittle a horrifying event at all, just pointing out that it's not common knowledge). They didn't call it "The R*pe of Nanking" for nothing.
And the Unit 731 was more ruthless in war crimes than the SS.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unit_731
Worst crimes and atrocities in world history. And on them no one held a tribunal like Nuremberg.
Please do part 2 I’ve been waiting
Very true. But, good luck trying to teach the masses anything that has been repressed, it's nearly impossible
Clicked on the notification so fast! Definitely check out more oversimplified. It’s a great channel. Also I hope your day is amazing and that you and your family are well! ❤️
oh yes THIS IS GONNA BE AMAZING. PLZ DO MORE OF OVERSIMPLIFIED LOVE U

Oversimplified rly got me into history
Oh, well that was unexpected
NOW THIS, IS EPIC!
I wonder if much of this could have been avoided if the french didn't insist on such an extreme treaty of Versailles.
More Reactions for Oversimplified videos pls!!
One thing that everyone probably many people don't know was the Bulgarians never attacking until boris the 3rd died
Unhappyness of the people combined with populism can create such scary and world changing events
Imagine, you have this teacher then a couple years later he pretty much rules your goddamn country
"Oh shit, is that Mr. Mussolini?"
