    As a Polish-American, I LOVE their Poland songs. But this song…THIS ONE…doesn’t rock…IT RULES.

Carolus Rex was a great success in that time of the band's growing career in 2012. It earned the platinum record in Sweden and the gold record in Poland :-)
Guys, maybe you should be more open to the songs in a foreign language (just look for the subtitles or translation of the lyrics). How could Sabaton have thousands of non-English speaking fans if they rejected foreign language songs such as English Sabaton songs...? And the music itself is amazing!

To answer your question about how they can have so many non English speaking fans…the same way Judas Priest have many fans that no doubt don’t understand English. Iron Maiden, Metallica, Accept, etc. Hundreds, if not thousands of bands. Because good music is universal. It overrides language barriers. Rammstein is a good example. They sing almost exclusively in German. I don’t understand any of it, but I’ve enjoyed what I’ve heard

@@LanceCorporalHawk30 I share your admiration to Sabaton! I see you know the lyrics and you are interested in the history behind 🙂
I was just refering to your words you've said at the begining: "The English version - because we don't speak Swedish". Actually I could choose the language I know if there were a possibility, as you've done.
Great song in both versions :-)

@@agnieszkazuk we had actually reacted to the commentary music video for their song The First Soldier when it first released, except the commentary was initially done in French, so we turned on the subtitles then and still enjoyed it. I’ll probably have him react to at least one song off Carolus Rex in Swedish. Maybe En Livstid I Krig

When I hear a song that I know is recorded in different languages, I tend to listen to all of them and after that, I decide which one is my favorite. More often than not it's the version of the artists native language. The feeling of the singer tends to really show in those cases. If I don't understand it Google translate is a great thing to have.

I highly recommend you watch the rest of the album sabaton history they go more in depth about the history and a little about the song example carolus walked into the church took the crown from the archbishop and put it on his head himself basically showing everyone there we will take no orders and definitely not the church and gustaf adolfphus was in 1634 this is in 1700 so he is not a direct child of gustavus adolfphus

I’ve fortunately already shown Brooks Lion of The North, so that’s one less from the album for him to hear. It’s in the playlist in case you haven’t seen it 👍

Actually, the Swedish and the English versions of this album are quite different. The music is the same, but the lyrics are not. "Carolus Rex" in Swedish talks about the king in a more majestic way than the English one, where he just sounds like a totalitarian dictator with a god complex.
My advise is to find any of the excellent lyric videos with the Swedish lyrics translated, and have a look.

Interesting. It’s curious how differently a translation can make something’s context

@@LanceCorporalHawk30 The English album is not really a translation of the Swedish one, at least for most of the songs. As I said, the lyrics are quite different, almost like an entirely different album.
The song "A lifetime of war" in English is about the 30 Years War in general, and how it was terrible, while the Swedish version tells the story of a young man who leaves home to fight for his king and wonders if he will ever see his home again.
So yeah, check out the Swedish versions as well, but get videos with translated lyrics or it will be no fun for you :)
