He seems like such a genuinely nice man and I’m excited to see what else he has in store for us. EEAAO is such a great showcase for what we’ve been missing out from him all these years.
I never forgot him. I remember him from Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom, Goonies, Together We Stand, and Head Of The Class. The recent picture of him with Harrison Ford brought a smile to my face. This interview gave me chills. I am extremely happy for him.
What the hell, Hollywood... why would you abandon this man after he did a movie with Ford and Spielberg... the hell is wrong with you. The most humble and sweet individual I've seen in quite a long time.
my sentiments exactly. and Ke is too sweet and humble to even ask this but if Spielberg was sending him birthday gifts every year for his birthday, why the hell wasn't he helping him get acting gigs? seems kinda sus to me...
That dude is so humble. It seems to me like he really feels his childhood may have just been like a dream or something… and now being thrust into the spotlight is overwhelming. I mean his outro sounded like he probably played it cool as long as he could then got himself boosted up and said “this is incredible” presumably about just meeting Colbert and being On his show. Omg I love This dude.
He still is that sweet adventurous kid from Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom and Goonies. He never lost that childlike enthusiasm and zest for life. He is eternally youthful.
I didn't even realize he was Short Round and Data. I had such a big crush on him watching those movies as a kid. And apparently still a big one now 💕 What a sweetheart
It was touching and sad to hear that Ke Huy Quan had thought everyone had forgotten about him. I certainly can't speak for everyone, but for myself, I know that well before this movie, the characters Short Round and Data were names that often came up in pop culture conversations and on podcasts that I listen to. Those characters are baked into my nostalgia and are absolutely some of the most memorable parts of those movies, which in turn were extremely memorable parts of my pop-culture development. I'm glad he's getting this chance to find out just how much he's remembered, and how excited we are to see him back on our screens.
Ke Huy Quan always seems so sweet and enthusiastic. It would be fun to see him in a romantic film someday. I hope we get to see him in a LOT of films and shows now that he has his Oscar!
What a nice guy, he was always meant for the big screen. I guess you can't scape your destiny and your God given talents. "Hey Short Round, if you ever read this congratulations 🎉... Hoping to see you again kid"!!!!

Usually whenever Colbert has a guest whose name is difficult to pronounce, such as an Irish guest, he'll apologize to the guest for mangling their name & bend over backwards to get the correct pronunciation. But not so with Asian-American guests.
As a kid he was billed as Jonathan Ke Quan but I’m so glad he went back to his actual name when acting as an adult.
@@filmneye sadly that's commonplace for Asian and African names. For example I don't think I've ever heard "Nguyen" pronounced corrected by a someone with English as a first language...
@@filmneye Kay whee quan? thats not how you pronounce his name. Stephen was actually close to a correct pronunciation. Instead of 'key' it would've been 'ker', and 'wei' instead of 'wee'. if you want to pronounce his name correctly and traditionally, it is Kwan Ker Wei
When he gave his acceptance speech at the Oscars, I said, "I'm done." Ke had just expressed the joys and the depths of despair in life. And he was just the 2nd winner! I think the rest of his acting experience is going to be exactly what he wants. So deserving!
I hope EEAAO wins ALL the Oscars. Best movie I have seen in years. And Ke Huy Quan is a big part of why the movie works so well.
Can't wait to see him in all his future projects.
I felt exactly the same about it. It's in my all time top ten already. I predicted 5 if the 7 Oscars it won, wished I'd placed a few bets!
I just cant get over how high pitched and soft his voice is. Really growing on me.
HE'S GOT THE GOOGLY EYE ON HIS COAT!!!
oo i missed that. that's what i come to the comments section for
He is referring to Big Brother the all-seeing eye or he went to the chineese market and he had his lunch turned into a jacket.
Or he is pervert who looks threw holes in wall .
Kidding I got Nothing 🤣
Lol
@@HighBanker -- The googly eye is one of the motifs used in his movie "Everything Everywhere All At Once"-- which is one of the greatest films made so far in the 21st century.
Haven’t seen an Asian man get so unanimously rooted for before. Everyone across the board seems to just love this guy. So happy for him! Rooting for you KHQ!
This guy has such a great heart and attitude about life! I'm rooting for him at the Oscars for Best Supporting Actor. So glad he came back to the big screen after all these years👍🏼👍🏼
I need to see more of this man in films.
Currently crying tears of joy!
I was at the Disney convention watching the panel he was talking about. After Harrison ford discussed Indy 5 it was the Marvel portion and Ke comes out for Loki and said he got lost and thought this was the Indiana Jones reunion panel. He seems like such a genuinely nice man and I’m excited to see what else he has in store for us. EEAAO is such a great showcase for what we’ve been missing out from him all these years.
You can feel his passion and love through the screen! What an incredible man
I never forgot him. I remember him from Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom, Goonies, Together We Stand, and Head Of The Class. The recent picture of him with Harrison Ford brought a smile to my face. This interview gave me chills. I am extremely happy for him.
You can't not love Ke Huy Quan. He's so genuine. So happy to see him recognized for his talents.
What the hell, Hollywood... why would you abandon this man after he did a movie with Ford and Spielberg... the hell is wrong with you. The most humble and sweet individual I've seen in quite a long time.
I mean, he WAS in The Goonies a year later.
worddd
my sentiments exactly. and Ke is too sweet and humble to even ask this but if Spielberg was sending him birthday gifts every year for his birthday, why the hell wasn't he helping him get acting gigs? seems kinda sus to me...
@@the_nikster1 i just wondered the same
@@the_nikster1 Hollywood doesn’t like non-white people in movies. Period 🤷🏽♀️
My God, no airs, no pretension - just sheer sticking with it. Audiences are fickle but he deserves everything he gets.
Ke Huy Quan has such an infectious personality that just brings me joyous tears whenever I hear him speak about the people he loves and admires. ❤🙏
That dude is so humble. It seems to me like he really feels his childhood may have just been like a dream or something… and now being thrust into the spotlight is overwhelming. I mean his outro sounded like he probably played it cool as long as he could then got himself boosted up and said “this is incredible” presumably about just meeting Colbert and being
On his show. Omg
I love
This dude.
I could never, and have never, forgotten about Ke. He was part of my childhood and so happy to see him back
He has the best lines!!
“Hold on to your potatoes!”
“I’m setting booty traps…….that’s what I said!! I’m setting booby traps!!”
He's so kick ass as Waymond! Easily one of my favorite characters of all time!
He is such a joy to watch!
I want to have lunch with Ke Huy Quan! I just love his energy ❤
I just want the guy to have more jobs. He has 2 roles on Disney Plus and an animated voice role. I don't know what else he is up to.
His smile always warms my heart
Ke Huy Quan always seems so sweet and enthusiastic. It would be fun to see him in a romantic film someday. I hope we get to see him in a LOT of films and shows now that he has his Oscar!
It's so refreshing to see good things happen to a good person like Ke Huy Quan.
What a nice guy, he was always meant for the big screen. I guess you can't scape your destiny and your God given talents. "Hey Short Round, if you ever read this congratulations 🎉... Hoping to see you again kid"!!!!
It's so easy to be happy for a person like Ke. Such a gem of a man, who actually embodies the positivity and heart of his onscreen persona in Everything Everywhere All at Once.
we haven't forgotten abt you Ke Huy Quan.. i loved Short Round in Indiana Jones.. and I've been wondering where has this kid been?? never seen him in other movies.. (other than Indy and Goonies).. now we know what happened.. good for you for this great comeback~!!
if someone hurts this man, the whole world will come after you!!!
I never forgot about this actor. I thought he quit acting, but he never gave up, am kept fighting to eventually get a leading role. And now he's an Oscar nominee. What a great inspirational underdog story.
EEAAO is an amazing film that deserves all the accolades and awards and more. Many thanks to Ke Huy Quan and all the others for such an impactful work of art.
... and I am now crying with Ke Huy Quan, after he said he thought 'everyone forgot about him'.
Nooooo frigging way... we've just been waiting for his return to screen. He's given me so much JOY from his unforgettable characters over the years. I will always be grateful for his performances and how they affected my life in such a positive way.
I know, wasn't that devastating to hear? I was kind of happy to see how many people in the comments admit to tearing up or crying during this interview, he's so genuine.. nice to know it helps make others genuine too
Hollywood sure forgot about him for nearly 30 years. But I think its too hard to ignore his talent, charisma, and is unwavering joie de vivre after EEAAO. Ke Huy Kwan is an international treasure.
@@EmpyreanLightASMR I was a mess after he said that.
He is extremely humble with NO ego, and he doesn't understand the IMPACT he's had on people all around the world. 🌟💖😭
@@dee5tank you are speaking facts. 🙌
@@LarissaFay I grew up on Goonies and Temple of Doom (literally, watched them both repeatedly along with Sound of Music lol). I haven't seen EEAAO though. He seems to sparkle and radiate happiness, I love that he said his wife is tired of him crying lmao. I wish we were all as kind and grateful as he is
This man is the most adorable thing ever since he was a kid and even until now. His joy is contagious and I look forward to seeing him more!
We’ve always loved you Ke. It was Hollywood that didn’t know what they were doing.
He seems like an absolute mensch who doesn’t take anything for granted. He was brilliant in the film and I’m rooting for him at the Oscars.
One thing I learn from interviews like this.... Steven Spielberg is a wonderful human being 😊😊
I am so glad Ke Huy Quan is getting the recognition he deserves for his performance. I weep every time I watch his "be kind" monolog.
Glad to see him getting the love. Definitely deserving. Can't wait to see him in Loki season 2.
This ^
While watching 👀 EEAAO, I kept saying, "Is that Short Round? Gee, he looks so much like Short Round!" And Short Round is back!! I would LOVE ❤️ just 5 minutes to meet him, shake his hand, and tell him how much he is loved 😍 🥰 ❤️!
Don’t worry Ke Huy Quan, I didn’t forget you, but I was wondering what happened to you.
Awesome to see him back.
Temple of Doom was one of my favorite childhood movies and this makes my heart so happy!!! ❤❤❤
as jennifer coolidge said, "it's not over until you're dead." this man is a living proof. inspiration and illumination.
After so many years, he finally received the recognition, applause & more opportunities coming to him. Amazing
Everything, everywhere, all at once is a great movie. So many amazing actors and such fun, but man! is it great to see the kid that was Data, and Short Round back in movies again! His characters were 2 of the best, most memorable characters of that era, and definitely added sooo much to both of those movies. So happy for him, and happy for us too, cause we get him back😁
I love the fact that Ke’s entertainment attorney is his former child co-star, “Chunk” Jeff Cohen from Goonies. After acting as a young kid, he became a lawyer! I heard about this in one of Ke’s interviews recently!
@@christinevr7698 Producers now have to talk to Chunk to get Data to be in their movies 😄
What a great storyteller. I love his energy. I can listen to him all day. What a wonderful man.
Omg. Just seeing him brings tears of joy to my eyes. NOBODY could ever forget about him.
He's what I imagine what a dog would be like if it were to suddenly become human.
And I love him!
Lovely comment. I imagine he'd be a huge labradoodle.
