I just REALLY hope the Academy members are able to recognize the monumental cinematic achievements of this film's writing, directing, acting, and overall vision. The sheer ambition, audacity, and open-hearted beauty of what they created is such a rare gem in today's film landscape, and I want movies like this to be rewarded for daring to create something so thoroughly original and vulnerable. ESPECIALLY when so often it seems like the same old predictable fare gets the awards (formulaic biopics and dry historical dramas with familiar actors and unchallenging storytelling).

@@dakapo8985 2022 was a great year for movies and all of them did stellar work telling emotional gripping stories in near to perfect ways...but imo it's not that those weren't all metaphorically 10 out of 10, EEAAO was just an 11. Being able to pull off that many narratives with that kinda script and editing, tear jerking scenes in ways we didn't think we could even get emotional over (rocks) all while meaningfully speaking to how it feels living today is both positively and negatively effecting the entire world culture right now...that seems like a layup for an Oscar even with such a stacked list.
Also as someone else said, to do this kinda work with the budget they had, super important for Hollywood to take notice of. Not every film has to cost 300 million to make to see a profit or be worth making.

    • @dakapo8985
      @dakapo8985 Год назад +1

@@jordansarkisian Yes i agree with you 100%. I am just seeing things from a realistic point with the acadamys trackrecord of how they give awards. So i dont think it will win in every catagory its nominated in. And lowering my expectations for that.
For example, Jamie Lee Curtis has the supporting actress award in the bag. Excellent performans, long career of good performanses and no prior awards.
But then you have the categorys thats so tough. While a good perfomans Ke wont stand a chance again Brendan Gleeson or Barry Keoghan. One a long career actor and the other a young genius with a rocket career. And those two in the sort of movie that the Academy loves.
So I am just trying to temper expectations. Because as you said it is an revolutionary movie in many fields. And the Academy is known for the slow uptake on that sort of stuff.

For an obscure independent movie made by 2 almost unknown directors to hit this deep with such a wide variety of an audience is simply a testament to the quality of this movie. Sometimes, you see good movies, sometimes you watch great movies, and sometimes, you just see movies that you instantly know are a cinematic experience you will never forget ! You can tell everybody who worked on this movie not only had a buckloads of fun, but you can also tell they were all on a MISSION !!!
I'm the kind of guy who very rarely go rewatch a movie in the theater, unless it really connected with me. This movie is among the rare club of movies I went to rewatch in theaters not only one time, but 5 times ! The second time just to confirm I didn't dreamed my first one, then all the following ones, I just had to show it to different friends and family members (and yes, including my sister and our mom, who have a very similar relationship than the one depicteed in the movie). And every single time, as soon as the Waymonds start speaking, I cried !
This movie is to the multiverse genre what Back to the Future was to the time traveling genre : Not necessarily the first one, but the definitive one !
It's essentially the Back to the Future of this generation !
But with times 100 the amount of heart !
I don't care if it gets any Oscar or not, at this point, sure, they'll just be a nice bonus if it happens, but the ultimate reward is that, in the infinite multiverse, we are in the one universe where this movie sprang into existence, and that's already a universal treasure to our world.

Logged on just to comment that I so very deeply, deeply hope the Oscars honour this film in a huge way. It is Best Picture worthy. The brilliance and ingenuity of this film is hard to fathom. So much intention in each shot and brilliant performances by each cast member, not to mention the profoundly beautiful messages in the film. And the cast seem genuinely full of joy and admiration for each other. I've watched this film 9 times now. We need more EEAAO in this world!

As you grow up, is so easy to displace those beautiful moments in life and focus on what is wrong. This move helped me realize what a sad world we are building by doing that. Yes, is hard to pay attention to relationships when you need to work, and make money, and produce, and respond to everyone and everything at the same time, but love is always present. Give yourself enough space to feel love and kindness, and that world will suddenly become less sad. Life is like a rollercoaster, and The Daniels with all their crew who worked in EEAAO somehow got it in just one movie.

@Westend Greens Extortion I'm a conservative dude. I voted for Trump. The movie is good. It's not woke. It's not a woke movie. Yes, it has a gay character in it, so what? The story didn't focus on that at all... You sound like a demented person, and you're the reason why conservatives get a bad reputation. An affirmative-action movie would be Black Panther, not this. Another example of an affirmative action movie: The little mermaid. Everything Everywhere All At Once is a great freaking film. Solid story, good character development, great cinematography, and great special effects, and they managed to do it with an 80 million dollar budget, which is nothing in Pedowood.

@@bz7661 Black Panther isn't an affirmative action movie, but the remake of A Little Mermaid absolutely is. The fairy tale is innately Danish. In Copenhagen they have a statue of the little mermaid as a tribute to the author. Making it with black characters doesn't really do much for the story.
On the other hand sometimes Shakespeare stories are reimagined in other cultural settings, usually with meh results.

The amount of creativity and innovation - bodes very well for the future of Hollywood.
