I just got a this jeep and it's a bit of a fixer upper, who ever owned it before tore the top fabric off of the ceiling and they got paint all over the seats. They also painted the bumper pink.
Garrett Clark I just got this same model car as well (it replaced my 2012 Jeep Compass that was totaled by an uninsured drunk driver). Mine is in almost new condition and needs minimal work to get it running 100%. I know the motor these Jeeps used (the AMC straight 6) is considered bullet proof and can usually run to about 400k before needing to be rebuilt.
I still have and use mine. From what I've heard 1995 was the last year these models came out really good. After that they lowered quality to reduce the price of production. I don't know if that's true but my unit turned out great. All I've ever done was change the transmission computer once, 60 bucks at a junkyard. The rest is all proper maintenance. I've traveled a lot with it, for 3 years straight I would go to Baja, to Ensenada and further south every weekend, many times I got to help others that got stuck in the sand and mud with it. It's still going strong. Love it.
Mr Sutay ,sounds like you need intake sensor and idle air control and go with NGK COPPER 7257, WITH A little Seafoam in 2 tanks of gas and your good to go!!!!

That paint bumper will turn some heads. You should paint the whole thing pink
