Hi .. how are you?? I'm from Yemen.. I like your videos and I'm looking for the video you made about bosch scan tool few weeks ago I couldn't find it.. my regards
I had a 1985 4 door 4×4 Limited, weird that had a GM 2.8 Engine, a Hard Work Horse,🐎 yeah, it was White, looking good with Chrome Grill & Tinted Windows! Sad that turn So Expensive like most of Used Good Cars!
Designs of the compact-size XJ Cherokee date back to 1978 when a team of American Motors (AMC) and Renault engineers drew several sketches. - Wikipedia
Those were awesome vehicles. An old work colleague had one, and he had 340k miles on it. Still had the original 4.0 HO inline 6 and AISIN transmission. He actually bragged about it having the same transmission as the 4 Runner.
i have 329k miles on my AW4 and 4.0. Bruh are complete stock and still going ever though i beat the thing off-road and on road. for a 24 year old jeep now it’s in amazing condition no rust or dents. Just basic trail damage
My favorite vehicle. Had a 1998 XJ, when I was done with it, it had 460,000 miles and major rust issues. Fella bought it and put the 4.0 liter and automatic transmission in a 2000 and it's still running strong 2 years later.
A lot like the story of my 1994 XJ. 443k miles on mine before the rust on the rear spring mounts made it unsafe to drive. My Jeep's parts helped others live on, and the engine/trans/EFI will soon help resurrect an Alaskan Postal Jeep (CJ-8).
Bought a 99 4- door with engine blown in 05 .my daughter agreed to help change engine, we did ,best one out of 3 different rides. She's changed her own oil from 16 yrs. Old .it's kool to see common sense in young people. We've helped other young people to learn to change their oil too .they were thankful. Proud of a lot of the young ones. GOD bless ya'll from hooterville,n.c.
I bought one of these when they first came to the UK in 1993. It was a 4.0 litre Limited. I did 30,000 miles a year for 2 years, I drove it hard and it didn't miss a beat. Fantastic vehicle.
Bro these XJs are now considered classics and they are probably the most off-road capable stock vehicle ever made so they are going for tons of cash right now. I know someone in LA selling one right now for 4Gs and it's a two door. I already have one but I might get myself another 😂
Scotty I have a 96 Jeep Grand Cherokee and it's the last car I'll have, putting in a new interior but the rest is fine, it has 168,000 miles on it and uses no oil and it leaves no oil drops anywhere. Just a all around great car.👍👍👍👍👍❤🇺🇸
@@tcbgarage2845 i sold my original one, bought a new truck, then bought another xj and my old one back. I personally think the xj Cherokee is one of the best vehicles ever made in North America. And the best in their price range.
@@bradlaflamme6127 well it’s the only American vehicle I’ve ever owned so I can only compare to cars I’ve had. But they beat my FJ60 easily and are equal to my beloved Aussie Falcon.
Jeep Cherokee's w/the 4.0L engine are bulletproof. This engine was in production for decades & goes back to the Rambler days. I had one in a '99 Cherokee & a 70s Gremlin..same engine & they run & run. No wonder you see lots of Cherokees still on the road today, even though production ended in 2000. An American classic !
1987 XJ they gave that beast not only higher suspension but dropped the legendary 4.0L V6 into it. Only down side to the Jeep Cherokee is the steering goes but can easily be fixed and you got to watch out for frame rot
This is why I bought my 98 XJ. 4 liter, 4 speed Aisin, NP242 select track transfer case. Has rust but its fixable. I love the thing. Bought mine in Upstate NY and brought it to Michigan lol. Mine is gonna be a highway hauler with a built in camper :D I like that I can go into 4wd up to 55mph with a LEVER! Not a button that wont work. Original Mitsubishi starter motor still works. 176k miles. 1k$ cash.
My cuz had one with (1993) 210k. Rusted right through the floorboard. Put in a new piece of steel and kept running like a champ. Still was good when he sold it later with even more mileage. Tanks!!!
I have a ‘92 Cherokee with the 4.0L HO and AW-4 transmission. Has 160k original miles. Arizona Jeep! Have owned it for 10 years. Probably own it until I die
My first car was a 4.0 96’ Grand Cherokee, I’m going to hold onto that thing forever. Essentially the same drivetrains as the XJ’s, but nothing beats that classic Cherokee body style.
Bought one brand new in 1993 and owned it for 15 years. It ran great, good pickup off the line, had an excellent turning radius, excellent visibility, and a pretty comfortable ride overall. The one bad thing was that no matter what I did to it, it would run hot. Couldn't trust it on long trips!
I have owned 3 Iacocca Jeeps, new n used. Best American made vehicles I know. I buy years 1996-2004. Ez repairs, durable, suprisingly reliable, and drive so well.
I regret getting rid of my '98 XJ. I think the best years for XJs was 1991/1992 . And standard transmission of course. Indestructible, reliable, and easy to repair. And you could put sand in those I-6 4.0L, they were bullet proof. Still the best car in tough snow situations and off-road.
I have 1993 jeep Cherokee 5 speed, I'm 2nd owner my mom is the first and it currently has 301k miles never been rebuilt, currently converting it from an internal slave to an external slave for reliability.
Here's one for you. A/C went out on my 1995 Jeep Cherokee. No money for a $800 repair, and I thought there was probably a leak, so I just drove it for three years until finally I was prepared for the worst. Took the car in and left it. While I explained the issue, I slipped up and told the guy that I wanted it fixed even if it costs $1200, due to a brain arimthmia I guess. So, anyway, I waited, and he called me back a couple of days later. Immediately I remembered telling him to fix it no matter the cost, so I prepared myself. At that he began, saying, "Yeah, umm sir, I took a look at the Jeep A/C." So, I gritted, and I'm ready now. Probably a blown head gasket too. The wallet is open. So, anyway, he says, "Well, yeah, uh, well........you, uh, had............TOO MUCH refrigerant in the system." PAUSE. "Yeah it won't work if there is too much." PAUSE. WAIT.....WHAT? My turn, "This is a thing???" "Yes sir, it's working now." WHAT? Thoughts race through my head, "Am I supposed to charge him for the extra he took out?...I don't understand what is happening right now. This is not how things work in the world. It's a joke, April fools, Halloween. WHAT? I hadn't had refrigerant added to the A/C system in years, and there is too much?" I knew it was leaking and trashed and finally would be paying for a serious repair. Crazy. 27 years with the Jeep, and I have still only replaced a water filter and brake calipers. Even still has the original muffler. Surprisingly durable with the special added extra of the Toyota transmission. By the way, the U.S. Forest Service and U.S. Parks Service made good use of these, too. This Jeep is a great beater if there ever was one!
My brother has a 97 Cherokee with the online 6 and it currently has 321k miles on it! Runs and sounds like a cranky old clunker but it goes down the road!
Love these old cherokees. Sold mine with 270,000 original miles… then bought another one lol. Thank god before the prices shot up. Up here in NH a lot of the postal services still drive the white righthanders.
Bought mine in 1996 and drove it all over Death Valley, Moab, Arizona, Canyonlands, Colorado, Utah, Montana. It's been my RV tow vehicle since bought. Has 223,000 driven miles and 150,000+ miles RV towed. I keep it nice, it's my daily driver. Never torn down engine, original automatic transmission, transfer case and differentials. Best vehicle I've ever owned.
I had an 89 Cherokee and drove it 300k ... then bought a Black 2000 Cherokee sport ... still driving it with 250K on it it ... it looks and drives like it just drove off the showroom floor ... but I've also taken very good care of it ... mostly rebuilt from the ground up by me including a new headliner ... religiously changed the oil every 3k miles ... alloy wheel with new Wranglers on it ... AC still works (new compressor at 180k)
I’ve got a 1999 Jeep Cherokee Classic. Inline 6 and the AW-4. Bought for $2800 at 164k miles and currently at 211,000 miles still running like a clock! Those Cherokees before the 2000’s were built fantastic! Hoping I can get the engine and trans past 300k!
My family has had 5 XJ’s and still have 3 today. Although they aren’t the newest tech and fanciest Jeep out there, people are still interested and they’re still super reliable!
I have a 96 Jeep Grand Cherokee and use it as my winter beater. I've never had to stick hardly any money in it. Runs like a top. Great vehicle and will go through anything.
@@hasteandfury2424 Well yeah, there is more Toyotas on the road, Toyota makes a bunch of different vehicles and they are still making them today. An XJ was only one model of vehicle and they quit making them 20 years ago.
Hello Scotty, greeting from Japan🇯🇵. True 15 years back when new, now white is the most popular color for cars (including luxury one). Interesting enough, here the post vehicles are all red like this Jeep. It would make a perfect postal vehicle 🤣
Been waiting for a Cherokee vid! 96 Cherokee classic was my first car. Grandpa gave it to me. Still got it just gotta get a new windshield. Takes off so good due to that straight 6 it’s a beast engine with great torque. Also got a 92 5 speed that’s sitting it needs an engine and transmission if anybody wants to donate lol
Scotty I have a 2017 Nissan Sentra Nismo 6 speed standard transmission. Bought it brand new it now has 4,100 miles on it. A guy offered me $18,000 dollars for it!!! It's not for sale but it's crazy that the prices of new and old cars are skyrocketing.
I think people get in the mindset that new cars lose so much money in depreciation in the first 3-5 years) and that is true... but that only matters if you plan to sell it within the first 3-5 years. If you buy with intention of keeping it for more than 5 years (and more like 10+ years) it's not as bad and I'd say around the 5 year marker is where it doesn't matter whether you buy new or used. Of course if you're the type that likes newer cars but gets a "new" car every 2-3 years, then perhaps buying CPO or slightly used makes more sense. But if you plan to keep a car for a long time, sometimes NEW is a better deal in the long run, especially if you drive a lot. (People also forget that banks and finance will give you a lower rate on a new car --and sometimes CPO if the financing is from the mfr--than on a used car, in which case you might pay 5%-8% on a used car but only 0-3% on a new car, so that itself could make a used car cost more than a new car, especially if it's only a year or two old and very close to the price of the new car with 0% or 2% interest.
Had a '95 Cherokee Country 4x4 sold it in 2010 with 350k miles on it. The car never gave me any problems, just kept up on the maintenance. It ran and looked perfect the day I sold it.
I still own a 1999 Jeep wrangler , has 117,000 miles on it . Still runs great , AC still cold . wouldn't own a NEW One , but have to say this one has been worth the money .
I just bought a 96 Detroit police package Cherokee XJ 4 months ago. Last owners did a lot of rework but never finished everything since the kid wanted a mustang instead. It's my 2nd vehicle my 1st is a 07 Scion TC. Big difference in the two. Replacing rear suspension next week since leaf springs are flat. Next is hood rust from the holes it had as a police vehicle. Then customizing it next this year. Hopefully repaint it the same color next year. Love Dana 35 and 4.0. It's a howling going down the road and love it!
My 92 Cherokee with 274k just put a new radiator and changed the water pump to be safe. It keeps going and going and going. Oh, and when we changed the pump out the water jacket was like new, no rust or gunk just super clean iron.
Love my 95 XJ... bulletproof and nice to work on. Same colour and RHD (Australia) 350,000km, stock and purring. Driver-side door makes that same clunk, as they all do after a few years. :)
Cheers Scotty. Its amazing how big the word is ahhh? . Built in Ohio, moved ro Japan, back in Masachusetts... Amazing! And it is left hand drive! Thats just too much!
Driving American lefthand drive vehicles in Japan was stressful. Most USA vehicles were as large of a bus. Never saw one of these righthand models in Japan. How interesting!
I paid $750 for a carburated 1979 Pontiac Catalina w/ a 2 barrel V8. Runs great, needs a brake overhaul. Car part prices are insanely cheap for carburated cars, lol.
I just picked up a 1996 XJ SPORT with just over 388k on the original 4.0L. It's an alternative to my old trusty 2000 TJ SPORT with 190k on it, 4.0L also.
Here In Canada, I have a 98 with 2X0k miles. It’s still pulls like a freight train. Just got a 04 WJ 4.0 with 310kms. Hard to beat an old 4.0 Jeep. Canada loves Scotty btw!
That particular model of Cherokee is the absolute Pinnacle of 4x4 SUV design the 4 litre engine indestructible.... just saw a guy driving a mint condition one today amongst a bunch of Porsches and Lexus SUVs I know I would have still sooner had the jeep
@@dodgeapache2262 jeep made ~3 million of these from 84-01. 87 was the 4.0 intro and it got tweaked in 91 as the 190hp/225tq high output. 97 got a mild refresh exterior and new interior. 00&01 had new heads and there were flawed castings that cracked above 3&4 exhaust ports under the valve cover and leaked coolant into the oil(and destroyed bearings in process when undiscovered). 00 had federal and cali emission models and all 01s were cali. The cali models have pre-cats right under the intake manifold and will boil/heat-soak the fuel rail and injectors when shut-off and will stumble on restarts and sometimes blow the check-valve on the fuel pump(thus have to prime multiple times before cranking). Anyhow, I’ve owned at least 6 of these since 1993 and have bought, fixed, and sold many more! Watch out for chasis and floor pan rust.
I have a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee, it was built when Daimler owned Chrysler. I have no complaints, the only thing I've replaced is the water pump, starter and fan belt.

95 xj country still kicking i will keep it to the wheels fall off,,lol
Everybody used them...fire depts, US mail, police .....they were solid suv's
Been here last year got mine posted on fb rn
My wife had a left hand drive Jeep Cherokee in 01 with the 4.0 motor and Auto transmission. We still see it occasionally being driven down the road.
Another prime example of
“If cars could talk”
Ole Jeep has got some stories.
XJ Frameless and Shameless, put a 4.5 inch lift, put 35s and you'll have a killer off-road vehicle. Plus you get the good ole inline 4.0
Haha shameless? Yeah shameless to drive it. There definitely more Toyota on the roads than XJ Jeep’s. Just in general.
@@hasteandfury2424 your right, most of the toyotas are on the road, all the XJs are in the hills somewhere on the trail. 😉
@@rexracer7192 you shut him the hell right up
@@hasteandfury2424 Well yeah, there is more Toyotas on the road, Toyota makes a bunch of different vehicles and they are still making them today. An XJ was only one model of vehicle and they quit making them 20 years ago.
Cheap parts and easy to work on. I put a new starter in for $150 and only had to remove 4 bolts
My mom had one. It got us from Colorado to Indiana many times on family holidays.
Scotty I live in Toledo, Ohio where they built that Jeep and still build the new Jeeps and people love them up here.
Hello Scotty, greeting from Japan🇯🇵. True
15 years back when new, now white is the most popular color for cars (including luxury one). Interesting enough, here the post vehicles are all red like this Jeep. It would make a perfect postal vehicle 🤣
I love my ‘99 XJ 4.0L...owner it 7 years. 225k miles on it and still running strong.
i still have my 97 XJ. It still runs strong! 250k miles on it.
You should have sold it.
I love your mission for truth and knowledge! I’ve been doing it forever. An educated client/guest is the best client/guest! Thank you
I think people get in the mindset that new cars lose so much money in depreciation in the first 3-5 years) and that is true... but that only matters if you plan to sell it within the first 3-5 years.
MY MANS HAS A 94 HE GOT IN 96. NOTHING INSIDE WORKS BUT THING STILL RUNS LIKE A TOP
I still have my 1999 version. Named her bertha. Little transmisson leak but still gets up and goes.
I found lots of trim parts/seats for my 1990 Cherokee back in 2014 When it was 24 years old. Jeep still carried the EGR solenoid new too.
Love our '93 XJ!
I’ve never heard anyone say they love the Dana 35, but I appreciate that. Unless you’re heavy duty wheelin’, the 35 is pleeenry rugged.
I've been driving my 99 Cherokee for 8 years now. AC works. Probably new heater core needed but other than that, all good.
My 92 with 275k is running strong and never gets stuck. Not stock of course
I have a 98 2 door XJ with the Inline 4 and a 5 speed and the transmission in it is bulletproof. Has over 200k on it. Such an AMAZING car.
I have an 86 I4 TBI RENIX, the first RENIX year. Most 4.0L guys don’t believe that though lol. But it’s true.
I love my 1995 XJ. 306,000 miles on my 4.0 HO. Still going strong, and my AC works too 🤣
Got a 96 LHD Cherokee with 311k on it runs just fine A/C works too. . Built in Toledo, Ohio
Yes Scotty needs to be on Jay Leno's garage. It would be great to hear both Scotty and Leno talking about cars. Both have a wealth of knowledge.
No
We had a 91 Cherokee Sport with the 4.0 w / 5 speed manual for 15 years. Loved it!
My 92 Cherokee with 274k just put a new radiator and changed the water pump to be safe. It keeps going and going and going. Oh, and when we changed the pump out the water jacket was like new, no rust or gunk just super clean iron.
New rad and water pump in an old jeep or car.. Like a new breath of fresh air.. Especially the coolant radiator.
Have a '99 Cherokee with the 4.0L 5spd. Still runs great.
I have owned two of those old XJ's and still own the second one. The two best vehicles I have ever owned.
Bought a 2001 in ‘04 w 30k miles, now have 235k miles and runs amazing, never getting rid of it
The best looking American car ever was the Buick Riviera!!! 67- 76. Love the pointed tail and rear window and the pointed nose. Nothing else compares.
....pics please
...
Except.... every other Fisher body American car til 1972.
Saw one of these in Bucksport Maine! He's still using it as a postal vehicle.
Thank you for the content, Scotty! All the best to you and yours
Jeep Cherokee XJ! The fine wine of the 4x4 world! Keeps getting better with age! 1993 XJ Sport 2-door 5-speed. 4.0L. Still daily my XJ.
Driving American lefthand drive vehicles in Japan was stressful. Most USA vehicles were as large of a bus. Never saw one of these righthand models in Japan. How interesting!
I had one of those in high-school. They are solid cars.
I always loved this kind of jeep
Hope your having a wonderful evening scotty love your videos and the energy!
thanks you too!
In Jan. I bought my Cherokee. Its red as well. 200k 6 cyl and clean with zero rust. Oh, the air condition works great. This is my toy.
I remember back in the mid 90s wanting one of these Jeeps but I was only 20 at the time making 6$ an hour 😅
Bullet proof is fore sure , my 1998 has 225000 on it runs like a top , love it , I'll never get rid of it
Here In Canada, I have a 98 with 2X0k miles. It’s still pulls like a freight train. Just got a 04 WJ 4.0 with 310kms. Hard to beat an old 4.0 Jeep. Canada loves Scotty btw!
I have a 96 Cherokee sport I bought new. Still love it.
That engine originated in around 1965 as a 232 Rambler 6 maybe introduced in 64 as a classic typhoon. Always a great engine
Had my 99 for 16 years now. It's my 4th one.
That particular model of Cherokee is the absolute Pinnacle of 4x4 SUV design the 4 litre engine indestructible.... just saw a guy driving a mint condition one today amongst a bunch of Porsches and Lexus SUVs I know I would have still sooner had the jeep
What years in this model? (like for example 90-99?)
I’ve been owning these cherokees since 1993! I currently have a 99 2dr 4wd ax15 manual 4.0 SE stripper model that is getting a 4.6l stroker next week.
Yea those 90s Cherokees were tough and durable!
I have a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee, it was built when Daimler owned Chrysler. I have no complaints, the only thing I've replaced is the water pump, starter and fan belt.
