@@TyphonLeTitan Stan has the best one hander ever. Give me Jokers 2 hander. I'm not fond of Gasquet's backhand because it is so whippy. Stans is technically perfect, and he can even generate power on high balls. I just love his whole game. Each stroke has such purpose and control.
Great footage and very helpful. Such solid set-up and execution. I can be a bit lazy with the left hand and so my shot preparation can be a touch random. This is excellent and thank you! Dave
Trying to learn from Stan is just impossible for most club players as me. You can pick the fundamentals of a correct, solid set up but that is all. If you look closely at how far infront he impacts in the top spin shots you realize his grip is quite extreme and in order to impact that much away infront without losing consistency your timing must be top notch every single shot
@@kennethwilliams4874 yeah, well racquet technology isn't as much improved as people think, but certainly is better. It is the strings that have completely changed the game. Yes, he would have been even better with modern strings.
@@ThorD4602 Well, and the weight, too. I don't know how old you are, but I'm in my 60s, so I remember using those old wooden racquets, and their sheer weight made it difficult to impart the kind of racquet head speed and spin like those of today.
@@kennethwilliams4874 old enough that i started with wood. I hit a heavy topspin ball with wood racquets today just fine, as was possible back then. But, yes, that requires a very strong arm. Woodies were generally very head light, and the style didn't evolve away from serve and volley until Borg showed a new way to play tennis.
Personally I find it hard to say tbh Wawrinka's is straight up the most powerful, strong and accurate enough to throw even Djokovic for a loop, it's practically a second forehand. Federer's has more variety and shots he can use. While not as powerful he's able to do things like disguise what shot he'll make since his takeback is similar for most of his shots. And, well, he's a GOAT, and his backhand is bound to be one of the best. Then there's Gasquet. His backhand basically carries his game like how Isner's serve carries his. That backhand was enough to get him to World No.5, which is impressive considering other aspects of his game have been considered just alright or even subpar. I might actually have to go with Gasquet's, though I've seen less of him than what's ideal.
A lot of amateurs say to stay down on the backhand. I watch Stan and Guga and it seems to me they are using their legs to lift the ball? So they start down but finish tall quite often...
This is 100% true, I had to relearn to one handed backhand because of my shoulder injury. You have get under the at the beginning, raise your body during the shot and finish high. It helps you get more spin amd rotation into the ball as well as power, because you move much more distance than being just stucked down, which will cause not complete shot without any power.
OMG thank you for this comment, it expresses perfectly what’s happening in my brain. This backhand is so beautiful and powerful that I just want to service him.

To me it looks like he just uses a normal "eastern" one handed backhand grip, slighlty to the continental side. How is that an extreme grip?
You were just not the chosen one
@@patriciomora9663 of course not😩
Wow good observation
Best one-hander in tennis history...Gasquet's is close, but Stan is tops.
Laver's was killer, too.

Where can you buy Stans shoes. I think they are 2018 edition or 2019 edition. So hard to get
Yonex ruined the line with unnecessary changes. You'll never find them
