I just wanna say, I love that Joe Bob has actually kept up with the times, taking his act to the web, seeing all the new horror movies that come out each year, supporting digital cinematography and editing, etc. He isn't an old-timer stuck in the past, but someone who really cares about the genre and what's going on with it currently and in the future, and that's awesome.
Exactly what I was thinking. It's so refreshing to see someone his age embracing modern media instead of bashing it because it's not from his time. Awesome guy!
When he mentioned about how horror movies are becoming a bigger part of cinema culture and actually being embraced by a wider audience That's coming from somebody who always looks to the genre with an open mind.
Damn, I'm so happy for James. Not just meeting, but getting an entire interview with one of his childhood heroes. And getting such a shining compliment from him, no less! It's just awesome to see how far Cinemassacre has come - from an ambitious kid with a camcorder, to where it is now.
Leggy!!! I agree with and endorse this comment. It was so awesome to see James so happy and getting to have such a great conversation with such and awesome dude. P.S. I used to watch your stuff all the time. I'm glad to see you're still going at it! I think I'll have to go marathon all the stuff I've missed now. lol
I remember watching Monstervision all the time after WCW and on the weekends. I remember one time he was showing "Carrie" and one scene had a wall with "Carrie White Eat Shit" on it and Joe Bob came back from break and went off on how TNT wouldn't let him say "Shit" but it was okay for it to be written on a wall in the movie. I loved Monstervision and that one scene stuck in my head to this day.
same for me and my mom, it also inspired me to go looking for obscure little mom&pop movie rental places as they often had some of those rare weird but awesome movies that were never carried by the big chain rental places like Blockbuster or Hollywood video... Made movie night much more fun!
I absolutely loved this! You can easily see how happy James was being able to interview one of the many personalities that influenced his youth. Absolutely a a joy to watch this!
He even did a little tear laugh. Imagine one of your childhood heroes telling you "You know what you're talking about, YOU get it". That's one of the biggest compliments one could get.
He was committed to the character. Even in The Stand. Where he was a highway patrolman named joe bob. A grindhouse film made by Joe bob briggs and james rolfe. You boys get tom savini involved and i'll head down to the theater right now.
JBB is just flat-out entertaining to hear. I can't wait to see the marathon he hosts on Shudder. In my honest opinion, movies should be hosted on television much more than they are. Someone who can appreciate them seriously for what they are as well as joke about the genre they're commentating on as a whole makes the experience so much more lively. The movie watching experience is totally different than just simply watching a movie. That experience can vary greatly depending on where you're watching the film and who you're watching it with. I mean some of you are probably huge Godzilla fans like me and own every film. But, tell me which is more fun, just simply plugging the disc in and watching it, or watching it on a TV marathon that you know other people just like you are taking part in enjoying too? It's a wonderful shared experience. That's why we had so much fun watching MonsterVision when we were young... because of that shared experience that JBB invited us all to have with him. It's as if he was saying, "Hey! We're all a bunch of geeks! Come and be one with me tonight and feel like a badass about it."
Nathan Wygal Well said man. I grew up in the 90s watching MonsterVision, and the Godzilla ones and Dinosaur movies were my favorites. And MonsterVision introduced so many people to those great monster movies in a pre-internet age.
This is great, I'm so excited I had to comment in the middle of watching just to say that. You can see the excitement being contained by James for sure. Some of the stuff Joe Bob says like 'nerds like us' 'you basically do Monstervision on a different medium' etc. That's gotta make James feel good for sure.
Oh. My. Gawd. This was amazing ! James, ur probably a huge reason so many people sent Joe Bob an email (myself included) to get "some form of Monstervision" back on air due to that video you made letting us all know, thank you for that ! I'm so excited for July 13th
This interview is great! Congratulations to you guys! You can tell by your enthusiasm, both in front of and behind the camera, how excited you guys were for this. It’s fascinating how much Joe Bob was predecessor to a lot of what is done on the internet these days. Can’t wait for The Last Drive-In!
Holy cow! This interview must be a huge checkmark on your bucket list. I can't believe that we all got to be a fly on the wall for this. Truly incredible!
And I 39 years of age. Man this is awesome. Me and James are about the same age so we both understand the importance of Joe Bob Briggs in TV and movies. This is like a dream come true for James. You can see it on this face. Amazing.
23 here. Would you believe me if I told you that, less than a week ago, I had a thought about how cool it'd be if a film buff extraordinaire like James did a proper interview with the likes of JBB? Uncanny! Loved Mike's spot on question about reviewing pre-1980s movies, too!
you've been my Joe Bob Briggs your monster madness videos have introduced me to all my favorite movies. I watched 98 Godzilla as a kid and got completely turned off by it but I saw the showa era Godzilla movies because of you and those are now my favorite movies of all time. I've spent $100s of dollars probably over 1000 collecting Godzilla figures and such thanks to you introducing me. also when I was a kid I saw the ring and it freaked me out so bad I never watched a horror movie again until once again you came along with monster madness and it re introduced me to an entire genre. now movies like klowns from outer space, evil dead, return of the living dead, and fright night are some of my favorite movies of all time. oh and you cant forget monster squad. thank you so much james!!! you are this generations Joe Bob Briggs at least to me anyways!
Plot twist: James falls into a time portal in 2020 and gets transported back to the 80s, where he adopts a Texan accent and a pseudonym, inspiring his younger self.
THIS IS AWESOME!!! You're so lucky to have been able to arrange this meeting! You've expressed your fandom before in other videos. GREAT interview. GREAT episode.
Great interview. Loved watching joe bob on monstervision. Everything about it was schlocky, b-movie perfection. Glad he's still around and kickin' and being shown some appreciation while he's still with us.
THANK YOU JAMES!!! Amazing idea for an interview! also Joe Bob if you see this, I love watching your clips of your old stuff! also pussycat kill kill is an underrated classic.
James is in nerd heaven here and it shows. He's sitting across from one of his favorite childhood television personalities. It's like when Sheldon and Leonard met Professor Proton, but in real life. I love it.
Ya, it's never portrayed geek culture accurately and it's getting old now. But, I like it in spite of those flaws. I like the characters and it still makes me laugh.
Wow I can't believe how James must feel in front of Joe Bob. This is amazing! Nice interview with a lot of cuts but still pretty great! I can't wait for next week!
After seeing how big a fan James was of MONSTERVISION, I thought this was an AMAZING opportunity for him to interview one of his childhood heroes! Great video! So happy you got to meet with a LEGEND like John Bloom!
the look on James's face when Joe said that he was a host of our times, it was briliant, thanks to James ive found good classic horrors from monster madness RIP MONSTER MADNESS :(
This was amazing to watch. I, like many people here, grew up with Monster Vision and the Joe Bob Briggs character. I also spent those early days of RUclips watching James’ videos. Seeing the two of them together is amazing, but even better, both men seem so down to Earth. James is clearly a fan and enjoying himself but he’s being professional. Joe Bob tells wonderful stories and seems like a good guy. This made me smile.
One of my absolute favorite TV personalities being interviewed by one of my absolute favorite online personalities. TOTAL NERDGASM!!!Thank you gentlemen. Keep up the great work!
Awesome! Joe Bob is such an interesting individual, and I loved watching TNT's Monstervision because he was the host. I loved watching Return of the Living Dead whilst he educated you about the behind the scenes moments. Great interview!!!!
Not "talking down to those types of movies" is part of what I like about James when he focuses on film. Because of the AVGN character you'd expect him to just make fun of bad movies but he takes them seriously and makes interesting points.
e11aguru I don’t think he’s using the Nerd character when he talks about movies. But I understand seeing him in the shirts being nice is weird with him not ripping them apart.
D. San oh yeah, I was just saying that in 20 years time you could see a fan who was inspired by James doing interview with him similar to how James was inspired/influenced by Joe Bob.
Aww. Joe bob is such a genuine fan and great guy. So glad James got this interview. This is the Pinnacle of awesome. Even as someone who's not as deep into this fandom, but still remembers him on TnT, this was absolutely delightful
James has campaigned for years for Joe Bob Briggs to come back and now he's coming back AND he has an interview with him. It's like a full circle thing
Even though I live outside of the US and never saw Monstervision, thanks to you, James, I heard about Joe Briggs many times and started to appreciate the horror genre. It’s a great interview and I thank you for sharing it!
It’s ironic how I even know about Joe Bob Briggs mainly from his “God Stuff,” segments on The Daily Show years ago making fun of the televangelists of the 90s. Even as a Christian myself, I found them pretty hilarious as they called out these con-artists as true wolves in sheep’s clothing. Definitely an entertainer of many talents and tastes. Great interview James!
I remember suggesting you interview this man a while back. I'm very glad you did! I'm glad you have your own line of "monster vision" with your monster madness.
Literally the coolest notification I've gotten in a great while. Used to watch Monstervision myself way back and just happen to have shudder now so I can't wait!!! Kick ass interview btw Sir James :)
James and Mike; This was pretty damn cool if I say so myself. Like you, I did the vhs tape thing movie by movie, and Joe Bob was my introduction to countless movies I wasnt allowed to watch as a kid. Imagine watching this guy when you were little, and then getting to interview him! I actually didnt even realize how knoledgable he is about the history of movies as a whole. Awesome interview!
Awesome guy!
and the guy really knows his stuff
you pretty much described Quentin Tarantino.
When he mentioned about how horror movies are becoming a bigger part of cinema culture and actually being embraced by a wider audience That's coming from somebody who always looks to the genre with an open mind.
Agreed!
"Just google that fucker 90,000 times" is one of the most fantastic quotes of the year. This guy is still a complete legend.
SiGhast The guy is a genius. An accurate Vlad the Impaler film would be fantastic!
5Rounds Rapid Yeah, that seriously would be an interesting thing. Kind of bizarre that it hasn't happened already.
don't you mean "just google that fucker OVER 9000 times"? :) LOL I'm joking
21:00
Damn, I'm so happy for James. Not just meeting, but getting an entire interview with one of his childhood heroes. And getting such a shining compliment from him, no less! It's just awesome to see how far Cinemassacre has come - from an ambitious kid with a camcorder, to where it is now.
ShadowLeggy has a bigger fan base than I thought
*john nails* Yeah, it was nice to hear Mike cracking up in the background and being part of it, too.
Leggy!!! I agree with and endorse this comment. It was so awesome to see James so happy and getting to have such a great conversation with such and awesome dude. P.S. I used to watch your stuff all the time. I'm glad to see you're still going at it! I think I'll have to go marathon all the stuff I've missed now. lol
Indeed!
RUclipsrs stroking other youtubers , ughh
I remember watching Monstervision all the time after WCW and on the weekends.

Wow. Just wow. He finally did it. An interview with his Monstervision hero! Thumbs up, Mister James. Thumbs way way way up!
He did an episode with Gilbert Gottfried, he just needs an episode with Elvira now.
Monster Vision was a big thing for me and my Mom when I was a kid, found so many cool flicks thanks to it
AlphaOmegaSin Game The Fuck On!!
same for me and my mom, it also inspired me to go looking for obscure little mom&pop movie rental places as they often had some of those rare weird but awesome movies that were never carried by the big chain rental places like Blockbuster or Hollywood video... Made movie night much more fun!
Please post proof pronto
You never see Joe Bob Briggs and Norm MacDonald in the same place...
There jokes are nearly the same, offensive but taking the piss out of the people who would normally say such things.
Clay3613 They also have the same facial expressions and cadences.
Theo Dious I was gonna say something but thought I'd be laughed at
pika23 They have the same expressions, mannerisms, and vocal cadences. Just listen to how they both say "ahhhh" in between thoughts.
I was thinking he does look like Norm MacDonald.
Joe Bob Briggs is a damn treasure. Love the guy.
I've watched the great Joe Bob Briggs since the 80s and he's still the man.
same! his books are always entertaining as well.
I absolutely loved this! You can easily see how happy James was being able to interview one of the many personalities that influenced his youth. Absolutely a a joy to watch this!
When you meet your hero, and he's just as awesome as you thought he'd be....
Joe Bob Briggs looks like a Texas version of Norm MacDonald.
I always thought it was Norm on Monstervision as a kid.
I was about to say has anyone ever seen Joe Bob Briggs and Norm McDonald in the same room at the same time?
I just said that wtf
@@jimreeder341 he was in casino dam I forget deep cut
Its like Billy bob Thornton and norm. Had a bastard child
Holy shit! Joe Bob was my hero when I was a kid! Awesome interview, thank you!!!
The look on James' face when Joe Bob called him a modern horror host.
@javaPhysician He was erect then as well I think lol.
It's so cool seeing someone like James that's so enthusiastic about any hobby he has meet someone and share a interview with a guy he obviously envys
He even did a little tear laugh. Imagine one of your childhood heroes telling you "You know what you're talking about, YOU get it". That's one of the biggest compliments one could get.
Movies is his real passion. He might be the AVGN, but he's not really a gamer.
I like how Jo-Bob looks at James as an equal and they have alot of the same experiences...
Great interview... can't wait for The Last Drive In!
Early birthday present on the luckiest day for me.
Joe Bob Briggs seems like such a cool guy.
He was committed to the character. Even in The Stand. Where he was a highway patrolman named joe bob.
A grindhouse film made by Joe bob briggs and james rolfe. You boys get tom savini involved and i'll head down to the theater right now.

Getting Romero to say cinemassacre and this interview, made me the most happy for James.
gyunexx What Romero said and where?
This is great, I'm so excited I had to comment in the middle of watching just to say that. You can see the excitement being contained by James for sure. Some of the stuff Joe Bob says like 'nerds like us' 'you basically do Monstervision on a different medium' etc. That's gotta make James feel good for sure.
So awesome to see Joe Bob again. I hope his new show does well.
DUDE, I loved Monster Vision. His show was a integral part of my adolescence. I wish there were more shows like his on TV still.
Oh. My. Gawd. This was amazing ! James, ur probably a huge reason so many people sent Joe Bob an email (myself included) to get "some form of Monstervision" back on air due to that video you made letting us all know, thank you for that ! I'm so excited for July 13th

Can't believe James got Norm Macdonald to sit down with him. He's really moving up in the world.
MortonSeinfeld that's actually a hilarious troll comment
I'm Canadian and I approve this comment.
James missed a perfect opportunity to ask him where his ideas come from.
Akira Kurosawa and you're too dumb to pick up on the original commenters sarcasm
Personally I dont really see the resemblance between him and Norm. Guess that's just me though
I have to admit I love seeing the Look on James in this video as this was a moment in time to treasure forever.
Legitimately stoked about this video. Never thought thjs would happen.
Phillip Marlowe
I thumbed up your comment because your avatar is awesome!
EPIC. My favorite RUclipsr of all time and the dude who got me into horror in one room. Mind blown, thanks James and Joe Bob!
Wow! I think James was a little nervous to be talking to a hero of his! Congrats for being about to do this
chocolatepain I would be too lol
He was mmhmm ing a lot but I think that's him showing he's paying attention
Holy cow! This interview must be a huge checkmark on your bucket list. I can't believe that we all got to be a fly on the wall for this. Truly incredible!
Two Legends
100%
literally ))
I'm 36.
And I 39 years of age. Man this is awesome. Me and James are about the same age so we both understand the importance of Joe Bob Briggs in TV and movies. This is like a dream come true for James. You can see it on this face. Amazing.

This interview is brilliant. It allowed him to say everything you feel he needed to say and the information was very important.
We're not worthy , we're not worthy, We're not worthy!!!
That Johnny R. Cade we suuuuuuck!
Are you mental? Get the net!
Exsqueeze me? A baking powder?
We're SCUM!!!
This was so great.
There was sitting-fu, talking-fu, drinking coffee-fu. 4 stars.
SirBenthr And, thankfully, no Shaq-fu
SirBenthr lol greatest comment ever!!
Check it out
Joe Bob says check it out!
Bolo-fu, redneck-fu, and Joe Bob Briggs is King-fu. 🤠 4 Stars
Based on the thumbnail, I I thought he was interviewing Q from Star Trek
you've been my Joe Bob Briggs your monster madness videos have introduced me to all my favorite movies. I watched 98 Godzilla as a kid and got completely turned off by it but I saw the showa era Godzilla movies because of you and those are now my favorite movies of all time. I just wish there was an hour to two hour long interview. This is just that good!
Looks like avgn talking to himself 30 years later
I know almost father and son
Plot twist: James falls into a time portal in 2020 and gets transported back to the 80s, where he adopts a Texan accent and a pseudonym, inspiring his younger self.
"Where are all the movies?"
They're being overshadowed by Marvel/Disney movies.
"If you know what i mean and I think you do." haha one of his lines he used to say in the show. Anybody catch that?
I love how it made James mark out and look to the crew like "he said the thing!!"
Funny to think this is one of the people that helped influence the creation the AVGN character.
Was it an influence for the AVGN? Seems more like an influence for James' love of horror and B movies.
This was great , such a good interview . I’d like to see more convos w these two just talking movies
I think they should host together that would be awesome
James is in nerd heaven here and it shows. He's sitting across from one of his favorite childhood television personalities. It's like when Sheldon and Leonard met Professor Proton, but in real life. I love it.
fuck BBT tho )
Ya, it's never portrayed geek culture accurately and it's getting old now. But, I like it in spite of those flaws. I like the characters and it still makes me laugh.
who's Sheldon and Leonard?
Wow I can't believe how James must feel in front of Joe Bob. This is amazing! Nice interview with a lot of cuts but still pretty great! I can't wait for next week!
A Joe Bob joke I still remember him saying is;
"What's the difference between an Israeli, and an Israelite? 4th less calories."
LOL!!
After seeing how big a fan James was of MONSTERVISION, I thought this was an AMAZING opportunity for him to interview one of his childhood heroes!
Great video! So happy you got to meet with a LEGEND like John Bloom!
Watched him all through the 90s. Great to see him again.
I love how he wouldn't call The Last Drive-In a show, yet now he's in season 2 and he's basically the face of Shudder. I love JBB, lol.
I bet Joe Bob Briggs is an AVGN fan
warrioroflight99 of course
The only way he wouldn't be a fan is if he hasn't seen any episodes yet but if he has you bet your ass he would love avgn
He's gotta be a fan, why else would he be here?
pocketmego Monster Madness is basically James' version of Monstervision
the look on James's face when Joe said that he was a host of our times, it was briliant,
thanks to James ive found good classic horrors from monster madness
RIP MONSTER MADNESS :(
This was amazing to watch.
Awesome James. Hope he was as cool as you thought when you were a kid.
Just a great interview, I wonder what went through James head when he said “nerds like us”. I would have cried haha
Loved Monster Vision - glad this interview was done. Thank you James.
Thought that was 'Q' from Star trek from the thumbnail
I don't care for Star trek but I recognize the outfit and what he's wearing is very similar to those so I had to double check as well
I also saw a TNG uniform.
I thought the same exact thing.
Same. I was like... Oh? Q? Oh ho ho!
Then I clicked and I was actually excited to be wrong.
I did to thanks to the thumbnail lol
Great interview James! so glad you get to sit down with one of your heroes and you are such a success. you've worked hard for it man!
Such a legend! Glad to see Joe Bob is still around!
This was a pleasant surprise. I loved watching this guy growing up, James appreciated it and always mentioned him. This is awesome.
Congrats on getting to interview one of your personal heroes, James.
thanks for the interview, both of you
Too much awesomeness in one video 🤩
I can't believe you had a conversation with Joe Bob Briggs! I love this, James. So happy for you. Thanks for this.
I feel like this would be the fan equivalent to meeting James and doing a interview with him.
Vomits we're all fans. Really makes that obvious.
D. San oh yeah, I was just saying that in 20 years time you could see a fan who was inspired by James doing interview with him similar to how James was inspired/influenced by Joe Bob.
James this is by far your best video so far, it was really great to see you sit down with Joe Bob.
Dam!!! Ive been waiting for this since his tribute to joe bob video!
famousmonster369 Beetlegeuse damn
Imagine how it would feel to have one of your heroes tell you that you're helping to carry on a legacy.
That may just be the best interview I've seen this year.
Dude that was awesome thank you. I expected this to be just reminiscing about the past but Joe Bob really has some great insights on the industry.
This made my day!!! 😀 Awesome interview!!
Aww. Joe bob is such a genuine fan and great guy. So glad James got this interview. This is the Pinnacle of awesome. Even as someone who's not as deep into this fandom, but still remembers him on TnT, this was absolutely delightful
Ive been waiting for this since the Friday the 13th Monster Madness videos!
This guy was awesome. Still is. Crazy happy for you getting to do this, James. Must have been amazing. And HAHAHAHAHA at having WaWas coffee!

Great interview James!
i know enough about cinemassacre to know this is a dream-come-true for you guys. well done and deserved
Phenomenal interview. I could’ve listened to 100 more hours of him talking about film.
I remember suggesting you interview this man a while back. I'm very glad you did! I'm glad you have your own line of "monster vision" with your monster madness.
WOW! This is awesome! JOE BOB BRIGGS!!!!
This is the greatest thing that's ever happened!!! Keep it up, let's see way more of this stuff! And can we get Joe Bob as a regular?
"Herschell Gordon Lewis didn't know how to do a close up" (Cue the close up of Joe Bob), lol!
I think this is the happiest I've ever seen you in a video, James. That grin is real and constant.
Thank you! He was 50% of monster vision for me growing up!
How cool is this?! So great to see these two interact. Love seeing Joe Bob Briggs again and hearing his stories. What a great moment for RUclips.
Literally the coolest notification I've gotten in a great while. Used to watch Monstervision myself way back and just happen to have shudder now so I can't wait!!! Kick ass interview btw Sir James :)
Ditto x120
James and Mike; This was pretty damn cool if I say so myself. Like you, I did the vhs tape thing movie by movie, and Joe Bob was my introduction to countless movies I wasnt allowed to watch as a kid. Imagine watching this guy when you were little, and then getting to interview him! I actually didnt even realize how knoledgable he is about the history of movies as a whole. Awesome interview!
This must have been a dream come true for James, and I imagine Joe liked Cinemassacre as well.
Thanks so much for this James! So great to see Joe Bob. He needs his own Netflix show.
Wow its the guy from cinemassacre videos

Yeah I said the same thing lol
yeah fkn amazing, after watching this i had to rewatch "a tribute to monstervision" on cinemassacre.....for something like the 100th time :D
hey thanks for clicking the comments!
Joe Bob Briggs was the owner of Pest Boys and Kelly Bundy's boss when she was the Verminator, on Married With Children.
If Joe Bob is on my screen, I'm gonna need to see some "Drive-in Totals"
Awesome.
Thanks so much for doing this interview! Seeing Joe Bob again was awesome.
I used to love watching this on TNT. Great interview.
This was a blast to watch, so much fun. Had to be great for James to get to interview someone who had a huge impact on him growing up.
