Definitely have to love those sunsets.🌄 And the sounds of the Silt Striders, as the sun sinks.🥰 Sings-Like-Cor was pretty busy in this one. He got a lot done. It's too bad you can't wear that helm. It would be nice if, since it is enchanted, it would magically change to conform to the cranium of whoever wears it.😀 __Are we asking too much of you, Bethesda?!__😂 I had a great time watching, Cor. Vivec is where I gave up back in 2003.
I was already struggling with the game's mechanics and steep learning curve, then I arrived in Vivec (probably too soon, 10/15 hours) and got completely lost and overwhelmed.
As I became a big fan of the Elder Scrolls games later on with Oblivion and Skyrim, I always regretted failling to get into Morrowind, especially as its incredibly atmospheric and strange land left a mark in my mind all this years.
Getting to the point : I'm really glad I can finally experience the game and repair a 20 year old mistake by following you and Sings-Like-Cor on this fascinating adventure !

Really happy to read! I love the game, but it is a challenging one despite (and maybe because of) the simple technicalities. And I really have appreciated the tips & tricks by viewers, as they have made some elements less frustrating. Not remembering the effect fatigue has, for instance, can break a sturdy soul! But delighted that it's a great experience to watch as well!

@@CorCanishPlus The way you roleplay makes it a wonderful watch !
By giving Sings-Like-Cor a background story, sharing his thoughts and moral dilemmas, it feels like we're following a real character, not just a souless avatar.
I also love that you take some time to contemplate, enjoy a nice sunset, a warm fire, or just reflect on the latest developments.
Plus your occasional comments and anecdotes (notably on architecture or geology) are always interesting, making us wonder about the history of the settlements and the land itself.
And the care you take in voicing every characters accordingly shows some real commitment (dark elf males seems especially hard on the vocal cords).
All of this makes this playthrough series a very endearing and immersive experience, by far the best I ever watched.
I've growned quite fond of our sweet argonian mage !

Don't be so hard on yourself! Morrowind isn't an easy game, especially when you begin without knowing anything about it. I played this game a lot, I know a loads of tricks and hacks, and I still find Vvardendell to be a very hostile place 😊

Most containers in morrowind don't respawn. And I think the ones that do don't let you put stuff in them being things like plants that you harvest. You don't need to fear loosing stuff you put in them.

      @CorCanishPlus  5 месяцев назад +2

      Good to know, thanks!

    • @Hamearis23
      @Hamearis23 5 месяцев назад

Yeah, respawnable containers are less common in Morrowind than Oblivion & Skyrim and they usually don't allow the player to use them for storage.
Though it's the ownership that may be an issue. I don't quite remember how it works, but putting something in a container owned by someone else may tag that stuff as stolen once you pick it back from said container. And Morrowind letting you guess if something has an owner or not only makes things harder.
But it shouldn't be that much of a problem unless you use a container in plain sight, get arrested for a crime or try to sell the stolen items to the owner.

  • @akarimizuki4382

What a prolific episode! Sings-Like-Cor sure progress a lot since the beginning of his journey!
I never noticed the argonian's swimming animation before ! It's very cute and interesting they thought of this kind of details. I love the fact Morrowind Argonians are just big cute lizards.
Don't worry about your colovian hat: a smith can fix it or you can use hammers. Containers at Ald-ruhn Mages Guildf don't reset so you can store your items. Just be careful: I had a bug in one of my chest because it was full, and I lost my items. Now I just let my stuff on the floor because stuff you put on the floor don't disappear. Very practical for alchemy: I let all my ingredients near my alchemist gear at Ghorak Manor to sell my potions to Creeper. By the way, he buy all sort of items except ingredients, lockpicks and books, but he buy stuff with it's full value so you don't have to bargain. Other merchants don't, so if you want to make cash, Creeper is a good merchant. Also main quest can provide you loads of items to sell for making money!
For enchanted items be careful, some effects must be casted and are not constant effects. Wearing them doesn't suffice to use them and you must select the enchantment at the bottom of the spell list to use the enchantment.
Such a long comment suits this gigantic episode! 😂 (If you read it entirely thank you for your reading! ❤)

Indeed Vivec is an incredible city! So much to see, so many corridors, it is easy to be overwhelmed, even the inhabitants acknowledge that fact :p
It is a shame about the Colovian hat, for now. It's not actually that much damaged, so if Sings-Like-Cor doesn't have the tools to repair it by himself, he could just pay a visit to any smith or armourer.
Well, given that much of Vvardenfell is rather hostile, the Grazelands may actually be one of its nicest places for a stroll (as long as one can do so unnoticed ;) ).
Like you mentioned, one of Morrowind's greatest aspects is its medley of distinct cultures and atmospheres. As a kid, I already loved all the different cities including the majestic Vivec, the various regions, the strange and fascinating Dwemer ruins, the lifestyle of the Ashlanders... and some more Sings-Like-Cor has yet to experience.
Then another great aspect is how Morrowind features many mature themes. Have to admit there's a lot I did not quite understand when playing as a kid. But by replaying the game, thinking back to it over the years, and now revisiting it once again alongside you and Sings-Like-Cor, I appreciate more and more the complexity of the worldbuilding & story. It's great that you take time to appreciate the game world, and the way you link your observations with your knowledge & experiences is also quite enjoyable!
And Sings-Like-Cor finally got to fill his pockets full of coins thanks to Creeper and the value of Morrowind glass! Good think gold is one of the rare weightless things in this game, isn't it ^_^

Hah yes, I'm glad we don't have to think about being dragged down by a hefty wallet while swimming away from slaughterfish!
Good point about getting the hat repaired by an armourer instead of buying a new one, thanks!
There is a lot that makes more sense as an adult, yes! Little comments about human nature and some really entertaining writing. Happy that I don't remember most things as I was also quite young when I played it first!
      Delightedly you're watching along! ⚔️🦖

Standing among books - that is a wonderful way to start the episode! 😊
And Jobasha must be quite the businessman, to afford such a large shop!
(...and maybe there wasn't enough money left for a separate bedroom 😂)
Yeah, let's call that "a private Ordinator" and not "a Temple-sanctioned invasion of privacy" 😆
.....well, okay, theft is very prevalent on Vvardenfell, so having an arm of the law guarding your shop is quite sensible, really - but how can Jobasha _sleep_ when the eyes of said law can pop around the corner every few minutes? 😂
The comparison of cantons to skyscrapers is quite apt!
(A city within a city, like those fluidly joined Chinese architectural behemoths where the plaza on the ground floor of one building is an elevated outdoor area on the tenth floor of another... 😅)
And I _know_ Dunmer themselves also get lost there. Can't be just an Outlander Thing.
(Ha, and the cityfolk even admit it freely!)
Oh wow, I didn't know you could delete spells! 😮🤓
    Neat!
(Damn, I really could have used a manual way back when I started playing, hah. I mostly figured things out on a trial-and-error basis 😅😅)
Also, mandatory fashionista comment: Sings looks honestly So Fabulous in that robe!! A ravishing reptile, he is 😎😁
Sings carefully laying out his expensive alchemical set and then proceeding to burn everything he tries to cook up is Very Relatable 😂
"A Tourist Wandering Into The Catacombs And Nearly Paying With His Life For That" is probably a headline the Dunmer see far more often than us, I'd wager 😆
And I wonder about the rent in the cantons...
Is it more expensive to get a permit for your own stand to sell your wares at in the upper Waistworks, where you'll probably get more customers but you can't probably have as much stuff there/your own level of comfort won't be too high...
...or to buy/rent a larger space of your own down in the Canalworks, where you can have a storage space and even your living quarters in one place, but with a lower likelihood of people wandering by...? 🤔
Then again, word-of-mouth seems to be the primary source of advertisement here & scholars hunting for specific items are willing to go from one end of Vivec to the other on the off-chance that some other hermit of a seller _might_ have what they need, so - hard to say 😅
You see how clean those sewers are?!
Incredible. Sanitation as a secret seventh school of magic? 🤔🧐😜
...but then it turns out cultists and smugglers and who knows what else _also_ enjoy a nice clean environment to conduct their business in 🤷‍♀️
So maybe an Ordinator or two could, y'know, check downstairs and realize it really doesn't stink that bad there 😜
LIKE AN ARROW THROUGH THE WATER OUR DEAR LIZARD GOES
That animation really is just utterly delightful AND cool 😁😁
Sings can add "Olympic-level swimmer" to his impressive list of titles and professions; Michael Phelps wishes he were half as awesome as this fancy fellow!
(...wanted to do a variation of the "bite me" slang phrase, there, but with Sings actually being in possession of large set of sharp teeth, it might give the wrong idea to the poor guy.)
    Seven floors, my word!
A great place to level up one's Athletics and Acrobatics, this city; its inhabitants are probably quite healthy, too, I guess. Even though the guys all sound like they've been chainsmoking since the Battle at Red Mountain or something 😜😁😁
(I wonder if their stress levels are slightly above average due to Baar Dau - the Ministry of Truth - hanging innocently in the sky, though.)
(Probably not. I mean, _we_'ve gotten used to large metal beasts whooshing past us at lethal speeds all day long! 😅😅)
(And Lord Vivec's might is, of course, timeless and uncorruptible 😌)
"How does the day greet you?!" 🤩🤩🤩
...Sings, your muscled legs, look of a fashion icon and air of mystery and danger are getting you fans already. At least he's not blonde, I guess...? 😂
(Ah, Adoring isn't Annoying, honestly. Just...also very enthusiastic.)
Trebonius, you are a funny guy. (Completely detached from reality and thus easy to be ousted by, say, an aspiring academic with Telvanni mannerism - but he makes us chuckle now and then.)
I wonder how many Dwemer-researching scholars in Vvardenfell were set on their path by this particular man, hah.
(Side note: I kinda hope we'll never find out exactly what happened to the Dwemer. The mystery is too cool.)
Love your little geological intermezzos!! 🌋
Any shot with a strider in it is a gorgeous shot; the sun makes it especially heart-stops-in-awe-and-delight-ing, though.
(I bet the Germans have a word for that 😜)
Imagine the world if our buses looked like that!
Instant peace and prosperity everywhere, I'm telling you.
...do you suppose Sings has a little camera hanging on his neck? A Dwemer-made instrument, perhaps? With steampunk-like design, that makes a delightfully old-fashioned *click* sound when a picture is taken? 😁😁
(You can just press "Seller Max" to get the max amount of thr merchant's gold on offer 😊)
And NICE, Dark Brotherhood Bros keep supporting Sings financially 😌 It's like a stipend, really, this deadly target on his back ❤️
Re: the Orc house - there _is_ an explanation for the huge boulder upstairs 😜 It's...a quest. But kinda hidden, off-the-main-road, one could say. But an interesting one 😁
    Shan't say no more.
.....but Creeper, as far as I know, remains a delightful anomaly with a mysterious past 😂
Parkour time! Caldera gets a new Phantom stalking her roofs! Guards helpless to act as they can't open the doors necessary to get their own roof access! 😜😁😁
"I'm not taking any chances with the blighted stuff," Sings mutters as he carefully skins the sick rat and places its meat into his rucksack.
    😜😁😁
(I bet Argonian stomach acid can kill _anything_ , including so-far-undiscovered Blight particles! 😁😁)
Aww, that alit just wanted to share its sunrise-related joy with you, running up to you so excitedly.... I'm sure.... 😅😂😁
And DANG, that's one large beast indeed!! Can't it be that mystical area where animals grow bigger...? 🤔
And "pondering the mystery of an alit's digestive tract" is _exactly_ the sort of thing we followed you here for 😆😜😁😁
    (SERIOUSLY!!)
(And it's a very good question, honestly. The aggresive enzymes such an animal must have to make up for its odd size...! Or perhaps it's like a snake, eat-and-rest-for-a-month style..? 🤔)
(Original devs, GET BACK HERE AND EXPLAIN YOURSELVES we just want to talk!!!)
Dark Brotherhood Stipend Committee is really diligent when it comes to checking up on their young protegees 😌😌😌 Such nice people! 😂
(And how convenient that all the Dark Bros have the exact same chest-and-legs measurements as a fully grown Argonian! 😊 Peace and love on Nirn, really 😁😁)
I just _love_ all the clanking sounds coming seemingly from afar in the Dwemer depths. It just makes for such thrilling atmosphere!!
The existence of Dwemer ghosts raises So Many Questions.
But for storytelling and lore-mysterifying purposes, I suppose they could work as...echoes.
Not really sentient or aware of the passage of time, not really in possession of memories - or in possession of the faculties? capabilities? to communicate their thoughts to the outside world of today...
But going about their ghostly routines, their transparent eyes blind to the emptiness of their once-crowded halls.
    Ah, the Dwemer.
AND THEIR RICHES fill your pockets lizard lad, those coins are excellent for Creeper-nomical shenanigans 😜😁
(Side-note: merchants' money pouches refill every 24 hours 😊)
And how resilient must the Dwemer metal be!! To withstand both time and lava heat without a proverbial scratch!
(Also, no worries, there are absurdly large ruins on Vvardenfell, too 😅)
Strider shell used for storage/cover!!! Go Ashlanders!!! 🤩
AND YASSSSS THE WOODEN WINDCHIMES that sound is as engraved in my brain as the silt striders' call ❤️❤️❤️
Persuade them with your Pockets Full Of Gold™, Sings-like-Cor! 😅 Don't be a cheapskate! 😂

Very nice anthropological lecture! (Had to laugh at how great sense of timing the thunderstorm had 😁)
And yes, yes - if someone had spent hundreds and thousands of years living in a certain climate/geographical area, it's usually safe to assume they kinda know what they're doing with their day-to-day living conditions!
(Assuming, of course, there isn't the sort of forced cultural blender that completely up-ends the societal structure and the people's habits and stuff without taking the nature around into consideration properly. Badly worded, perhaps, but hopefully it makes sense, still.)
It's actually great when modern architects turn to time-tested-and-honored styles and traditional shapes etc. - blending the old and the new with function AND grace...
      (Love your scholarly interludes!)
And it's very cool that although it's basically "ye olde fetch quest", in a way, it provides a fascinating look into the cultural web on Vvardenfell.
(Something that is sadly often missing from stories like this.)
(By the way, have you ever done anything about Skyrim's giants...? A decidedly sentient race that, incidentally, could be awesome dragon hunters - Alduin wants a bite of that mammoth calf? get whacked like a baseball, idiot - and we know they make cheese and herd their mammoths and that's more or less it...)
I wonder if the Cephalopod helm was meant as a not-so-subtle jab at Sings being an Argonian. As in, 'you may be useful to us but you aren't one of us'. Or if it's just Gothren's standard method of payment and he doesn't actually know or care what the Telvanni who ran his errand looks like...
(Yeah, it's just a gameplay mechanic thing, but.... y'know. The mind wonders.)
The classic bookshop seller experience: "Hello, can you help me find a book, please? There was something with 'Fire' in the name...no, I don't remember the colour of the cover....maybe it was a religious thing...?"
      😁😁😁
(Also: the Chronicles of Nchuleft - who left that copy Sings picked up _in_ the actual Nchuleft ruin...? Is it a super rare tome that survived milennia.....or all that was left of some unlucky adventurer's belongings...? 🤔)
Re: enchanting items - I am not aware of any way to disenchant stuff in Morrowind; especially so because with enchantments, the effects you can place on the item stem from the spell-effects _you_ actually know (but don't necessarily have to be able to cast, unlike Oblivion) 😊
And re: journal - in the 'Options' button down on the left, you can click 'Topics' and see the clickable conversational phrases from dialogues, which will show what everybody you've talked with said about said topic 🙂 Sometimes that helps with finding the _exact_ directions somebody gave you etc. 😌
(Apologies if this is something you already know/remember, as always! 😁)
Maybe the Dunmer of old, who built those round Velothi towers, used ancient roller blades to get around them, what do we know? 😜😁
"We're here to make Beladas happy," Sings says, shrugging his shoulders, and starts slowly removing Drake's Pride --
      oh sorry, wrong genre 😂😂😂
Woah! What neat rewards! I really am under the suspicion that the Telvanni wizard lords live so out-of-touch with society they no longer have the appropriate sense of scale of what is considered Ultra Powerful - as in, what seems to them a meager trinket fit for an errand boy/messenger/somebody who performed a relatively small service, might actually be super dope in the eyes of the rest of the world...
But no, Sings did have to go near and far for those books. Beladas wanted to reward him properly for his efforts and polite mannerism, I'm sure 😌
(He's not like other girls. I mean wizards.)
      😁
And I'm glad the Temple bed tip worked out! 😊 (I actually sqeaked out 'nooo, no that one, they'll see you -- ' at first, hahah 😂😂😂
[Technical side-note: sometimes the music/sound in the video got a bit...fuzzy? buzz-y? Not sure if it's the game or the mic or whatever.]
      Anyway!
A wonderful episode, this, and full of so many adventures!
Our dear scaly scholar has become quite the skilled explorer of Vvardenfell wilds 💚
Thank you for taking as along, as always! And have a lovely day, hopefully full of sun and smiles! 😊

"a Temple-sanctioned invasion of privacy" is spot on! 😂 I will be optimistic and imagine that the guard reguarly brings breakfast on a tray to Jobasha or that they catch a glass of sujamma after working hours. A professional/non-professional kind of relationship. Loads of food for the imagination!
I'm really, really happy to get some tips and tricks along the way, especially the one about deleting spells! It makes a difference realising all the neat little things you can do inside the game.
You honestly conjure up some great visuals of the gameplay! 😂 Sings-Like-Cor standing in the middle of a busy Vivec marketplace catastrophically failing to produce potions and humiliating himself is exactly how that part should be imagined!
Concerning rent, I definitely makes sense for J'Rasha to be down there. I'd suspect he sells other things than his organ-dissolving potions, and that he has a loyal customer base that keeps coming back. But not great to have business down there knowing that bonewalkers could escape from neighbouring tombs. Lower rent rates in the underworks for sure!
For immersion sake, we really shouldn't swim in sewer waters again, no matter how clean it appears! 🤢
The secrets of the Dwemer will stay hidden - likely too much for the human mind to comprehend!
Silt striders carry huge visual quality! While I would love to see a silt strider, the experience of being elevated on a giant flea with thin, long legs would feel quite dodgy and wobbly. I get from vertigo from being at the top floor of double-decker busses!
Ahhhh, can't wait to find the quest about the rock! Really want to know what the story is there.
"Blighted rat meat" sounds ridiculously disgusting!
Love the idea of the Dwemer ghosts as echoes! Almost like dangerous holograms or magical anomalies.
The atmosphere under the windchimes (thank you, I did not know how to refer to them!) is just perfect!
Thanks for appreciating the ethnographic observations! Yes, despite the simplicity of the quest, I really liked it as it pushed Sings-Like-Cor to discover some profound insights about the "cultural web" as you aptly called it!
Never done anything about the giants! I would have loved for more details about their history in Skyrim. Maybe I missed some things
Concerning the Cephalopod helmet, I suspect that Telvanni mages are so wealthy (or deranged) that they give away things without really appreciating the application and value of the rewards. As you say later on also! Neloth definitely thinks that 10 gold is an adequate reward in exchange for fetching him a powerful robe, while Therana and her mouth consider 1000 gold to be okay for delivering a skirt! More reasons to love this faction! Of course, the bigger the reward, the better
"There was something with 'Fire' in the name...no, I don't remember the colour of the cover..." Hahaha! Off to my local library now to test this!
Ah, there likely isn't any way to disenchant objects then! Well, we might put it in the chest and see what happens
Would not be surprising if Sings-Like-Cor has accepted that undressing in front of friendly men is absolutely okay in Vvardenfell. Baladas is our favourite though: Friendly, powerful, trendy haircut and always something interesting to talk about!

I did use to work with a nonprofit called Bikes 4 Humanity however that restored and sent bikes to various african countries and the things we'd see the locals do with the bikes we sent over I have no doubts their buildings are sturdy to say the least.
I look forward to next episode

Nice! My mother is from Zambia, so been visiting many times throughout my life. Then via college I focused on Zambia specifically and did some fieldwork there 😊 Loads of bicycles there as well! Though traffic is too wild for my nerves

@@CorCanishPlus Oh traffic can be wild. worst traffic I've ever seen was in Toronto.
Zambia was one of the countries we sent bikes to I'm pretty sure :D

I really adore Morrowind's dwemer ruins. Skyrim's were honestly kind of a letdown in comparison--they don't have that same creepy-crawly feeling.

I actually prefer the Dwemer ruins here too. Skyrim's occasional exploration of Dwemer technology are cool, but it isn't as profound or lore-explorative as here in Morrowind.

I agree with you. The loots in Morrowind's Dwemer ruins is without comparison with Skyrim tedious ruins
