Seems awesome that you are building something similar to a vintage tony kart. If you are going shifter I recommend the ROK Shifter engine. Very reliable as far as two stroke race engines go. I race a 2016 tony kart 401s. Best of luck on the build. Can’t wait to see the final product
Cool Build! I’m in the process of building one for my senior project. Planning is definitely essential. As you progress, there are always issues that you run into that weren’t foreseen.
What kind of steel are you using and if you could link the welder and pipe bender you purchased that would be wonderful! I am planning to build mine go kart soon but am finding vague explanations as to what type of steel to use.
Mild steel, or low carbon steel tube is what I used for this project. This was before I had a tig welder so that was my only option. The better way is to use 4130 alloy chromoly, used in race cars and commercially bought kart chassis. Chromoly is stronger, so a thinner sidewall can be used to create a lightweight chassis. Chromoly also has a high chromium content, so it will not rust like a low carbon alloy will. Downside is chromoly is a bit more difficult to work with, and it has to be TIG welded, not mig welded like this frame was. The welder used here is a hobart handler 140, and I used solid core wire with 100% co2 shielding gas, which is not ideal, but its cheap. The TIG welder I now have is a lincoln electric squarewave tig 200, which is what I would use if I were to do this project again. As for "pipe" bender, the proper tool to use is a tube bender (tube is measured in OD, pipe is measured in ID and is not as precise). All the fabrication tools can be found on tricktools.com. Alternatively, you can use a cheap harbor freight pipe bender, but it is difficult to get bends to be the proper radius, and will likely kink the tube. Building a frame from scratch is very expensive, and it was a good learning experience to get me into fabricating, as I have some projects I would like to build in the future that use these skills, but if you want a go kart frame, just buy a used one to save money and the hassle.
Thanks for sharing brother the info was really helpful iam intention to build new frame with 1000cc engine i dont know if that will work with me If you have experience can you please advise me regarding the weight of the engine and the size of the frame tubing ? Thank you and all the best
You can convert the PDF to SVG for free and it uploads to the right scale as original . And ofcourse you can measure all the parts that are not shown on the PDF ,and put them in yourself . Hopoe this helps .
disregard my comment on your other video man, just came back to watch this and found the pipe sizing. dope build btw im planning on doing something very similar myself and its cool to see how you went about the design and placement of everything
in finland we have many monkey bikes 50cc and couple of them have 140cc lifan and lifan has more torque low and yx engine is more high rev top power. I myself too have monkey bike and will buy 125cc lifan when i get some money but i just bought g29 so i have to wait a bit and need other parts too and they very common here like in my school there is 5monkeys and couple suzuki pv's
Hola sabes quería amar el karting pero necesito los planos porfa con medidas y todo detallado sería posible que me lo mandaras porfa espero tu respuesta saludos
Thanks for actually explaining it I’ve been looking for people who would explain how to do it

Was watching your videos and thinking of building and go cart for the kids just wondering how much tubing you got what size and thickness

Excellent work. What type of tube did you use and how thick for the chassis.
Any way to get your CAD drawing that you did and bend tech file? Would you sale it?
now this is an epic gamer moment

A fellow Louisiana native. Great video man
Excuse me, may I know the size of the 3D frame? Because the link in the description can't open🙏
Brother, could you please attach the 3D model link again? It looks like the one in the description does not really work.
Do you still have the bend tech cad files for this?
Can u share again the link of the frame
Im unsure as too how much material to buy to build a similar chassis could you help me out?
Tried to open the links you gave in description they aren't opening 👀
What material you using for frame
Hi mate, I tried opening the link to the dwg file but couldn't get through can i get some help in acquiring it. Great work by the way. Thanks
How much of each tube did you buy and how much was it for just the tubing?
what software or cad are you using ?
Yo I’m in a welding class and we’re using bend tech do you think that you could send me the plans?
Been lokking for this chassis everywhere, please send me links for plans. The links no longer work in this description
Quero fazer o download do projeto não consigo. Me ajuda
Hi please can you help with sketching of shift kart gkx1 chassis frame I mean a video please

are the measurements in millimeters? or what
Go Trek bikes! I worked at a Trek bicycle shop in high school, it was a great job!
Did u do fabricating in school?

You posted the link for the file in a proprietary format? Booooo........just a set of numbers for most people would have been good enough
He didn’t design the file. He used it
