Great home maintenance repair using Flex Shot to caulk all of the cracks and adding Flex Seal on top to create a flexible coating will surely be a strong sealant that will protect! 💪
I used the flex seal gallon. Great stuff I just poured it on the roof and rolled it out it’s been two years on my rental property and it still holding up.
Bought house 2 weeks ago, doing remodeling in whole house, finished attic, installed recessed lighting in each room. Got waterproof bathroom ready for tile, finished spackle today. Next will be sanding and prime. Also planning to do Vinyl laminate in whole house accept bathroom. Hope 3 more weeks and can move in. Hope soon pandemic will gone and we will get back to the normal life! Stay safe!
Hey Handyman, I fixed a shingle roof on a rental(I’m the tenant) in Florida with the tape and spray on top and it lasted the 8 months I had left on my lease during the rainy season. Would not recommend long term but it kept us dry since the landlord wouldn’t fix it.
Big shout out from NY, the big guy left a clause that states us single handy men can still work on whatever (I did check and make sure with the health dept), but the sheriff just sent out an advisory that only essential work. So well, plumbing and electrical jobs here I come. Sadly I wish I could charge half of what you charge, then maybe I could take time to do the things around that need to be done. Oh well, The Big Man upstairs takes care of me, so who am I to complain. Love the videos here and on the HB channel keep them coming.
I had a client call me a couple of years ago when Nor Cal was getting hit with a lot of rain. He had bought a can of the roll/paint on for a skylight above his music shop. I loved it from the very beginning, easy to use and works great. Doesn't dry out a quickly as the Henry's. I have used the spray can for my camper trailer roof. As far as keeping busy, we are are still allowed to do essential repairs and work inside essential places of business. So I have been staying somewhat busy with emergency services like plumbing leaks or code enforcement repairs. At home, finally getting to all the routine maintenance projects I tell my clients they should be doing and organizing the shop.
I love that flex-seal lol...it works pretty good on quick and minor roof repairs! Don’t wait 2 years to re-apply tho or finally replace roof! It must really suck sharing a unit(s), and your neighbours aren’t concerned about their investment, or treasured belongings that dwell below that leaky roof 🤦♂️

We have a sod turf grass sales business. Landscaping is considered a critical industry here in Georgia, plus with all the folks stuck at home, homeowners are ordering sod to complete an item on their honey do lists. So we're swamped with sales at the moment. When we have time from that, I'm remodeling our master bath/bedroom, repairing some electrical and changing out the ceiling fan in the living room, building additional shelving in the basement storage room for my wife and putting up a shiplap walls and vinyl plank flooring in my man cave/visitor bedroom, completing insulating, running electrical and putting up plywood walls in the rest of the basement for a woodshop and finally, when that's all done, I'll install a bathroom in the basement (plumbing is already run). As a side job, we're putting up a country style fence outside to keep our nearly grown labrador retriever teenagers from wandering the neighborhood.
I have been lucky enough to land a month long job where I am in a condo by myself. Scraping ceilings, dry work, painting, electrical and plumbing. Much of it is not considered essential but since I am by myself 100% of the time it's like being at home.
My state is under lockdown as well. Cannot leave unless it is essential. I do not believe that we are in the same state though. I am in the midwest. My job allows me to work from home so that is good so far.

I just finished building a custom hand-tool wall cabinet and will proceed in the next few weeks rebuilding my kitchen cabinets. My back-splash is nice, my granite counter-tops are nice, and my cabinets are terrible and need replacing.
We've used Flex Seal on our garage roof, We use the can and it has held up. We replaced out drain valve on our 24 yr. old water heater. Next is replacing our fill valve on our toilet. Our state hasn't gave a stay home order yet.
I was fortunate enough to get supplies before the lockdown went into place. Building 6 base cabinets and 11 uppers for a kitten remodel. Clean and modern look. Nothing fancy.
Started making drawers to hold tools in my truck, maintenance on some tools and organizing garage and building shelving to hold leftover materials. Would love to start building pole barn but can't get cement trucks to deliver right now.
Hey Handyman, in order to stay sane during this CV crisis because my wife’s driving me crazy 😜 I rescreened some torn panels around my pool and also installed vinyl flooring in my garage . It looks like a hardwood floor only a lot cheaper !
Haha unessary trips aren’t quarentine permitted but Immediate severe home weather prep is permitted as long as property owners are receiving money for paid sponsorships! Thanks for the video, I’m actually going to use this to temporarily extend my parents roof life before having to replace old shingles and roof frame from a sagging leaking farm home built in the 70’s
Do people actually abide by those silly rules? Act like a citizen and not a slave -- do what you want when you want, you pay their salaries, not the other way around.
dear lord that flat roof needs a lot of love. it needs about 2 full days of labor love. pressure washing the crap off, roofing cement and fiber tape all seams and parapet wall seams and stacks. come back following day and silver coat that entire thing. come back following day and do 2nd silver coat. come back and maybe even do 3rd silver coat. that chimney needs a lot of love too. it always baffles me when property owners neglect their flat roofs. torch down modified bitumen flat roofs are tough cookies, but they require love every 3-5 years. treat them right (ie keep seams sealed and silver coated to prevent UV rot), and they can last decades.

I was joking with my husband I needed an experienced handyman in Bogota D.C., Colombia. The apartment complex administration beautified and repaired many things and believe it or not, managed to recreate an ancient leak (and bigger) discovered soon after I had received this as a brand new apartment. Getting ideas to repair from below, from the bathroom.
I bought 20 gallons of paint 3 weeks ago and I'm painting my house, caulking windows, cleaning the windows, cleaning and repainting the outside light fixtures and I'm pretty sure the US economy will have recovered and covid 19 will be over with before I'm done.
How has this flexshot & flexseal worked over the months you have done this repair? Is it really “that good”, as I’ve never used & kinda afraid to. Usually go with caulking tubes with roofing “tar” along with exterior caulk & use flashing etc...to repair siding & roof leaks. Never have used the flexseal products & am curious to know if they really do work & “last”. Would be nice to see an update vid from this vid too see just how well it’s doing. Thx for the vid & seeing these products. Cheers✌🏼
I'm classified as essential. Work 4 on, 4 off. On my off days last week I built a hall tree/chair hybrid out of two solid 28" doors. This week was a hidden gun safe in the wall of my bedroom. Looks like a body mirror but its packing. Next week, pressure wash and paint the exterior trim.
We don’t have any restrictions where I live. I actually replaced an exterior door yesterday and got paid through Joist and never meet the owner other than phone call and text. Kind of interesting to me that I never had to meet her in person. Honestly, I like it that way 😂

Do not know the code where you are but I have done roof recover using peel/stick and hot mop methods. Placed MBS slope builder on low spots and applied new flashing, pitch pockets, and gaf roofing membrane. 3 years and still no leaks or separations.

I used to use that sticky tar tape for windows and doors along with a bucket of black jack to “repair” my flat roof... that was long before flex seal...
Wow! That flat roof covering is deteriorated and should have been replaced years ago. I appears to be bitumen and when it looks alligator skin it’s time! LOL! I’m personally still working a little and hoping business picks back up because I’m going nuts.

The governor deemed existing real estate was"essential." Fortunately I had a house already pending needing inspection repairs. Unfortunately he also deemed that new construction to be eventually sold is not essential. However, under the "spoilation; prevent damage" clause it was essential to get it dried in. So that is what we did. Now there's nothing to do. So I'm trying to finish a storage shed at my house.
I am installing a Bamboo floor in an empty house. Not mine. Flooring was ordered before the shut down. Nobody is home, so in it goes. I've never taken so much time and carefully measured each angle so much. It's like I don't want to finish too early and have to go home to sit around.
Rushing to finish a gutted apartment i started a couple weeks ago, completed friday. I'm sure my state is going to have a stay at home order soon. Trying to work and accumulate as much money as I can until then.
When my wife and i got married we bought our first home, it had a flat roof. The home was a row house. It was the worst mistake i ever made . The roof leaks where suck a pain. I had it repaired so many time but did not last. So we had a new roof installed. And that would leak every few months or so. We lived there for 16years and sold it. We have a house that has a regular roof lol. I say never buy a house with a flat roof.
Flex seal is great stuff! 4 yrs ago, my wife's car radiator sprung a leak when I was at work. I had a can of flex seal in the backseat don't remember why. Anyway, she sprayed radiator with flex seal, then went in store for groceries. Still have not changed radiator!!!!! Luckily the leak was visibly on top where she could get to it. Great stuff!
Oh crap // Mom's roof leaking // perhaps I didn't tar a vent good enough 5 years or 6 years ago The grudge / mind my spelling .. was done a year after in winter with the fence being done in spring .. "lol" always the best time // its been raining 3 days now // lord knows how long its been leaking // now showing in bath room I have not peaked in Addict .. Making a bed for night // hopping the nabor is not trying to drive her out of her home .. I mite move back to the old place and fixer up // hell can't go anywhere right now anyways .. I'm hopping for the can sealing thing Fix.. Very good video .. I'm scared to look at the basement // dug that with Dad 55 years ago "lol"lol" foundation mite be kicking out ,, Hell maybe I'll video the project as I go along // house is about 62 years old it was a shell
Been a roofer for 45 years. The flex seal in a spray can doesn't last very long. The rubber flex seal in a gallon can is all right. If you read on cans not for use by professional roofers. Buyers beware .
Metal screen and a hose clamp will take care of your bee problem. What have I been doing? Building shop stuff... chopping wood... installed a gate at the bottom of my driveway to keep the nosy neighbors out. Shooting randomly when they drive by so they know I mean it.
Someone reccomended flex seal to me recently. I'm living in a rental trailer. The owner wont fix or pay for fixing many things. Cant afford to move. Water comes down the wall, into the windowthrough the wall and...the electrical outlet below the window stops working...flex seal is worth a shot...but where do i put it to get the best use of it...happens when it rains or snow melts.
I used some flex seal on a vent on my roof that was leaking a couple of days ago. I stuck a WD40 straw in it to work with it. Had to do the work on the underside of a gable roof that had a huge pitch. So far so good
In Ohio there is no enforcement of so called Essential labor or repairs. Neighbors are having decks built, landscapers are cutting grass and outdoor workers are not wearing face masks or any social distancing control. I have temporarily closed my Handyman business due I do not want to enter homes and I will stay closed till end June or longer. The projects I am doing at home is repairing one wall then painting, installing a AFCI GFCI circuit breaker, planting flowers and grass. seeding, mulching , laying pavers, installing more smoke and carbon monoxide detectors since new code wants each bedroom to have one, building a wood frame to prevent large garbage bin and recycling bin from blowing over, from high wind gust. And cleaning and organizing garage , basement and shed. I am now tied just thinking about all this work!
Don't use flex seal,, it is not permanent, a cheap quick band aid which is a pain to remove. Water will get under it after awhile. Looks great but don't be that home owner, use the correct equipment and materials for the application.
Hey Handyman I'm from Washington which with the orders they places they are similar to yours. I've been catching up on some custom cabinets , shoe storages and American flags people have ordered.

I built a fence gate for my fence outta scrap I found in the back 40 then cleaned my whole workshop and built a squat rack🤫
nice Rolex submariner.
This stuff is the greatest and I’d paint this on roof or anywhere. Also Ames rubber for basement great
Great Job......1 question i keep forgetting to ask you....WHERE IS THE COW???....cheers
This was helpful.

Been a roofer for 45 years. The flex seal in a spray can doesn't last very long. The rubber flex seal in a gallon can is all right. If you read on cans not for use by professional roofers. Buyers beware .
Professional roofers will just lie and tell you need a whole new roof.
Metal screen and a hose clamp will take care of your bee problem. What have I been doing? Building shop stuff... chopping wood... installed a gate at the bottom of my driveway to keep the nosy neighbors out. Shooting randomly when they drive by so they know I mean it.
Muy Chido su Video Amigo!! Gracias !!!
How about posting an update to this video. Interesting to see if Flex Seal lasted as advertised? Thank you
Someone reccomended flex seal to me recently.
Could we get a 1 year update on the flex seal?
It all leaked.
Thank you. Any recommendations for a better product or fix?
Hey Handyman! You need to teach me how to spray that fast, would save a ton of time!
I used some flex seal on a vent on my roof that was leaking a couple of days ago. I stuck a WD40 straw in it to work with it. Had to do the work on the underside of a gable roof that had a huge pitch. So far so good
How did you get the bees out of the vent pipe on the roof? 11:17 am, March 7,2024
Do you think it would make a difference to spray paint or coat the Flex Seal after? I was thinking this could help protect it from the sun.
How have your trades been going?
Going ok. I'm still waiting for go in again.
