Let's do some damage and see just how good Flex Seal is at fixing the damage compared to the competition! I'm not sponsored by Flex Seal, Rustoleum, Perma-Seal or any other brand. I think there is application error. Where Perma seal sprays on much more slowly you have more opportunity to aim it and get it in the void. So when you move on to Rustoleum its clear and may get more heavy application cuz it's harder to see and you used black not clear or white for the Flexseal so it's coverage may have been the least/thinnest application of all three. Also each test may not have been ideal for the type of application which is why Flexseal made other products for different situations. The very first thing in the Directions on Flexseal say, "For best results use multiple coats" in all capitol letters. When Phil Swift turns a antique truck into a submarine or screen door bottom boat I don't think he used one coat.
I know this is an older video so I'll go check out the next "Spray on seal" comparison video and see how that goes.

These test where very scientific. I used to work in a material science lab as an organic chemistry researcher. Each test you provide, including the scraping test at the end where you showed the viscosity of each adhesive, was exactly the type of test we'd perform in a lab setting to give feedback on well something performed. This hjas actually been done multiple times. Generally, Amazon Basics are some of the best performing, and cheapest you can get. Anything labeled "Heavy Duty" is usually a Zinc-Carbon chemistry from the 40's (?), and always much worse than any Alkaline.
Also, the Amazon Low Self-Discharge are cheaper and perform about as well as top tier Eneloop for rechargeables.
Not sure you want to waste test time as this has all been done before.

I love this kind of stuff. The time and work (cost???) to perform this test is impressive and extremely informative. The only other test I would really like to see would be a longevity/weather test. Subjecting each of these products with a single application to the most common repair (i.e. roof leaking around flashing perhaps) and see how long each holds up in heat/cold/ice/rain etc. over time would do the trick. It's definitely something that would be a deal breaker rather than what works best initially. Awesome demonstration nonetheless. I think I've made my decision. Thank you!

Thanks for the review. I think I will be looking for Flex Seal or Perma-Seal. I have an old truck that was wrecked once and whoever did the bodywork on it did not put a sealer in the seams where the fender and floorboard meat the firewall. I have fixed most of it with silicone and a rubber putty spreader but there are still a leaks that I can't get to where a spray like Flex Seal or Perma-Seal will probably do the trick.

I'm making a diy roof rack for my van and I'd like to use one of these types of products to paint the brackets and washers to prevent vibration between adjoining painted metal surfaces from chipping the paint, which down the road will allow the roof rack to rust (I'm using a galvanized steel product for the rack). I think I've chosen rustoleum, based on your tests. Thanks so much, this video really helped me get a look at the properties of these products without having to buy them for myself and using trial and error or guessing which product will best suit my project!

Its nice that you put the price and the size of the can but can you add the unit price. In other words make it so that its per one ounce unit. Also many times I'm able to listen to your videos as I multi task so the more you put numbers on the screen I miss out on some valuable information and that would be super helpful, maybe if you can include some voice over work if that's not too much trouble? Either way I always thumbs up, and I stay subscribed with the bell rung because the amount of work you already do shines through! Its amazing the amount of thought you put in these videos, your methods of testing are always very creative and effective, I was super suprised during your saws all that you had people questioning you about how much weight to add. I know that you probably considered it heavily before performing the tests and rather than be insulted that they would even question it you included the thought process behind the experiment in the next video, cudos!
