What happened was the cybug that ate Turbo became him.
Calhoun did say that the cybugs become what they ate, like how the cybug in Hero's Duty ate Ralph's gun and became armed.

I always felt it was a glaring flaw in this film that Ralph never said the obvious to the other people in his game. "That its his job, he is an actor. Their just playing roles, and outside of the game he shouldn't be treated for what he does in his job, when they rely on him to do it." He was right to want to come to the party, and to ask for better treatment. How he went about some things... not so much, but that part he was 100% in the right.

When a relatively minor Disney/Pixar character gets a Plot Twist and suddenly turns into a villain, it's usually a last-minute rewrite:
In the early drafts, Ralph & Felix had to search for parts for Vannelope's car, and King Candy was just a frustrating Ed-Wynn looney who sent them on increasingly ridiculous/dangerous mini-game "challenges" to find them. But, they still needed the Big Third Act.

Nicelander 1:Aren’t we supposed to be throwing Ralph of the building?
Nicelander 2: Yeah, yeah we’ll get to that right after Ralph finishes waving at Vanellope. And THEN we throw him off the building.”

Alternatively if you hit select at the end, you can also do it for player 2.

If you think about it, at the end when the CyBug turned into TurboBug it gives Calhouns "tragic" backstory a whole new twist. The tragic part is not that her fiancé was eaten by a CyBug at her wedding, its that she had to kill the CyBug that turned into FiancéBug, at her wedding.

i love this movie. I have been dealing with acceptance issues for what I look like and/or what I am. I have always felt cast to the side, used and tossed, just never really accepted for me. I'm a few years from reaching 40 years old, and never really been fortunate enough to have a relationship. Growing up I had wanted to become a dad. However not having found somebody to have a family with, let alone somebody who'd like me enough to wanna date me, having kids seemed like something I'd never be able to get to have. I have been working in a school for a few years now, and they have become like my kids. Some of these kids accept me for me and enjoy having me in their lives. The innocence of children. I still have my days when I get brought to tears by some of these kiddos. Watching this movie reminds me of the little mantra I was taught when I was attending AA meetings. "May I have the strength to accept that which I can not change, the courage to change that which I can, and the wisdom to know the difference." I may not have been good enough for anybody to want to have a relationship with me. Reaching 40 years old and never having been in one, everyday just has me feeling more and more certain that I'm not meant for one. However these kids at the school I work, I can change for them, I can better myself to be there for them as they grow up. It has really brought tears of joy to my eyes when I have seen kids grow from kinder to graduation from the school. It's a bummer I won't see them after they graduate, but I am glad I was a part of their growing up. And if these kids are willing and voluntarily coming and hugging me and saying they will miss me, then maybe I'm not so bad after all.

It makes so much sense the villains have a support group. It must be so hard to be a villain - arguably the most important part of a game because no villain, no motivation or fun/frustrating obstacles - but others end up hating you because of your basic function. And even worse is that the villains seem to not be pure evil. It's like they're actors who have fun at their role until reality hits again and they're hated for playing their character.
