So, I know you said we've never seen marketing like this but the closest thing I can think of is Miley Ray Cyrus, playing Hannah Montana as Miley Ray Stewart. We studied this in a college course I took about Teen Shows and it was so meta and disturbing because you think about the blown-out-of-proportion celebrity that's got blurry lines and wonder how does that person hang onto their identity. I hope Jake from State Farm can separate from the image gracefully when he's ready.
