Andre is almost 63 yrs old and he doesn't age, he is still fine 🔥 🔥
U are still fine Ms DarknLovely!!!
Dude has like 7 - 8 years on me, but he looks ten years younger.
heyyy
Well then!
All them guys Morris Day Prince Andre ,Jesse Johnson ,dye their hair ,that will make you look 10-20 years younger.
I couldisten to Andre Cymone talk forever. He seems so down to earth and unphased by fame or any of those material things. It's just lovely that he was able to find what was important in life
As a kid....I had the biggest crush on Andre Cymone!! I loved the way he wore his hair & clothes! Dude had swag in the 80's😘
I love Andre! His interviews are always great. The real question is... what’s in that Minnesota water that has these men looking fine as hell in their 50s & 60s? Prince, Morris, Andre... WOW! 😅
I noticed that they look so good all of them! They look like they're in their 30ds💜
Beautiful men
@@suzeesix Must be somthing in the water they drink😳💜
You should visit paisley park it's a beautiful place
@@thepromiseman7745 I really want to! Little nervous though. Lot of people say you can still smell P’s perfume and feel his spirit. I’m not ready to cry yet 😂
Andre is absolutely incredible. A legend beyond words. And an epic talent! A straight shooting, down to earth, great person. Can't say enough good things about him.
This artist has great integrity. He has my respect.
Great stories about Prince . Andre was an old childhood friend that wasn't intimidated by Prince's success.
Yes he was....
Prince fired the guy
It's good to hear these healthy conversations with Andre who had healthy relationship with his father. Also Prince talking about his father. These days you don't hear many Black Men have healthy relationships with their father.
Thank you for interviewing Legendary Andre Cymone, This was an absolutely treat. Andre accomplishments is impeccable. Putting his family first says a lot about him.
Andre Cymone is a legend’s Legend... the lyrical dexterity of his playing especially with the bass is insane..no matter what he touches you’ll know it’s Andre Cymone
He is dope
Andre needs to write a book 📖 Seriously! Great listen, thank you!
That's a book I'd read about his life & Minneapolis the early years are fascinating. All these other books out here about Prince are trash. The only one I appreciated was Sheila E. mentioning Prince because she wrote it about HER life & because she did so while Prince was alive. People had lives after Prince, whom I love but most talk more about Prince.
Thank you so much!
It was inevitable that people would've compared him to his Brother Prince. He was coming from that family in Minneapolis. So it made sense. Prince became a million selling artist. But, Andre took another path. But, they loved and respected each other.
WOW!!!! A man of integrity.
Absolutely
I have loved Andre Cymone since I was 13 years old. I'm going to be 53 next month. Awesome interview awesome guy awesome talent and a living legend. "You're not going to put a mustache on my mona lisa"... Well put!
He is so Gorgeous! And a true LEGEND!💓
SOoooo underrated indeed and so down to earth
Oh my goodness....just the cutest premise! I love the camping theme! I camp, fish, boat, and hike....first visiting family in Minnesota, now in Oregon and Washington.
Thank you. We’re trying! We LOVE camping
Love this interview. Love you Andre!
Salute to Andre!
this guy ....class act everytime I see him and hear him...big fan Andre.. so glad to hear he still plays because he is super talented and a big part of the Minneapolis sound which was vital to the 80s ...my father was a bass player in a 60s band that had some minor hits...he still gigs and still has people who come to see them...I understand how music was in Andres blood ...when your the child of a musician it's just like that...I love Moriss wanting to sing the billy paul song , me and Mrs jones...he was funny without even trying. thanks for the stories.
So ,humble ,honest exceptional artist. I am a new fan and waiting for his next release.
Andre is amazing, I love his work. Especially with Jermaine Stewart!
Me too oh, he is very talented
that was a really attention-keeping interview. Excellent.
Thank you!
That still a thrill song by Jody watley was crazy that was some good production
Hands down the BEST mobile camp fire I've EVER seen. (Also the 1st.)
As long as we can be Ranked in some area
He ain't lying about the Minneapolis sound being identified by that James Brown guitar lick. First it was a guitar lick, then a keyboard riff that a lot of funk bands tried to cop.
Thx you tube for allowing me to catch up with my former fave artists including this guy whose record Lipstick Lover I Still bump to this day. The intro bass line is golden 👊🏽💯❤️
That early band Prince had was the best. With Andre on bass, Dez on guitar , Bobby Z on drums , Matt Fink on keyboards..
Love Andre and all the original Prince band meme era when he came on the scene. Loved this interview even though i have heard him telling the same stories growing up with Prince.
Can you also get an interview with Dez Dickerson and Brown Mark?
He's DEFINITELY Prince's bro!💯💯💯
Great stories and great interview.
He’s responsible for one of the funkiest bass lines ever...LET’S WORK!
He also wrote Do me baby for prince and did the melody for controversy
@@thepromiseman7745 What!? Really? How’d you find this info?
@@queenkaili3243 I'm a big prince fan I can find anything on prince and his music and all the songs he wrote in his entire career I also met and talk to prince in the early 90 s during his Diamond and pearls and the the symbol tour ...Did you know that Morris day wrote the song ..Partyup for prince
Andre cymone also came up with the bass part for the Let's Work
@@thepromiseman7745 u still didn’t explain the question asked about that song not your bio of lies on prince
@@pettyceddy9538 It's common knowledge amongst old school fans.
Best interview EVER!
Andre is the best! I love his stories... 🙂
He has held up well.
I enjoyed this so much! Great interview.
Got 1969 and loved it, so looking forward to the new album.
He's 62 years young and doesn't look a day over 40
60's the new 40
Must be something in the water they drink...
Thanks so much! Enjoyed every second.
Thank you! We’re growing and trying!
Banger interview
This was an amazing interview!
Thank you!

This Dude still inspires me
#1969
Him and Prince are so much alike: loners, competitive, intelligent, talented , caring
Absolutely hilarious!!! You’ve got yourself a new subscription!!! 🙂
I wonder if Andre realized he just dropped a line from Prince's song "Uptown" When he said:
"White, Black, Puerto Rican" ..(everybody just a freakin. Good times were rolling)
RJ great observation.!! I didn't catch it until i read your comment
White, Black, Puerto Rican, everybody just a-freakin'
Good times were rolling...
He probably wrote it.. 🤷🏿
He wrote "Do Me Baby" which Prince claims he wrote but he enhanced it. From what I understand.
Andre Cymone looks incredible.
Used to dance at First Avenue to "What Are We Doing Here?" on the big video screen. Very cool part of the scene.
The reason why Prince moved to Andre Anderson is because he got kicked out of his Dad's home. He broke a rule his Father was adamant about for that time.
What?!
@@baileybutterfly320 He had a girl in the house.
@@LG-kx8xl in the bedroom no less 🤣🤣🤣
FACTS I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY IT WASN'T EVEN MENTIONED 😕 EXALTED EQUALLY MORRIS DAY WAS PLAYING WITH A PERSONA OF PRINCE ROGERS NELSON WHEN IT COMES TO THE CHARACTER OF MORRIS DAY THE GIGOLO, LADIES MAN ETC...ETC.
@@henrinevermind1695 Morris claims the way Prince would act because he liked the way they would talk in the hair salons.
The pond that he mentions and going over the bridge to get to the kitchen sounds very similar in the 1970 movie Play Misty for me. I thought it was strange. I don’t know if that was actually Clint Eastwoods house or just a house they used in the movie. The movie was filmed in Carmel by the sea, CA, which I believe he lived there at that time.
I recall having a brief studio session with Brown Mark in 1999. Music was good but would have loved to hear Andre’s work for sure.
Dam....Andre still looks 21 years old 👀👍
Great interview.
I Love this interview hit it and Quit it😂 much Love to u Andre
He's 63??? C'monnnn! Great interview into his life. The Adamant/Adam Ant pun was classic.
He's basically telling his whole life story in a nutshell....
14:34 Tom Jones impersonation kills me 😂😂
Just simply Love this ... Life is really simple when one remains HUMBLE .... I also Love the respect that seemed 2 remain between them as individuals. It all will ' Come out In The Wash, In Time ' ... The Foundation = LOVE ... 💜💜🙏🏽💜💜💯👍🏽 ...
Exactly. Andre so humble. It's his time!!! He is remarkable.
Loved it!!
I watched old interviews with him...he was very shy and reserved...he has such a cool personality...I get it...he was very young and crafting his image etc...totally understandable...but man with his history and personality he can do anything he decides to do...he's clubbing with Jermaine stewart...he just casually throws it off....man that era is right in my wheelhouse...id have pounced on that
Also pay attention to what he said oh, he said he never want to be in someone's band he just wanted to be in a band. Meaning he wanted to play as a group without no one in charge
Most BIG GROUPS tend to break up 💔 as well...He spoke about this particular narrative of being in a group in several interviews even stating that PRINCE brought up the idea of a BROTHER JOHNSON type group. Even the BROTHER JOHNSON had major in fighting between the brothers in the group after their own success. 🤑
Great interview but it's your time ,god has bless you with the music now years of wisdom we need your hits BLM the airways need you brother.
Andre knew Prince had a Sense of Humor 💯🎉
This is amazing.
I love the fake fire!!! 😂😂😂
When he said, "White, Black, Puerto Rican..." I know I'm not the only one who immediately started singing, "Everybody just a-freakin'..."
😂 yip!!
Andre..."Dance Electric!"
Only 2 minutes in and this is the weirdest concept/theme ever!! Glad you're having fun with it, cos it is hilarious. Between Two Ferns never had a fake fire, baby!
Hey thanks! We do have a fake fire and we love it
Mr. Anderson...a blast from a funky past!
4 U old school AC fans, remember The Dance Electric video when he enters the nightclub? They wanted to scan his barcode and he gave a "don't even think about it" look. What would U compare that to today?
WAITINNG ON THE MOVIE!!!!!
Articulate cool and damn good looking dude!
Livin in the New Wave was a revolutionary album for me. Tom Jone Andre Cunobelinus Leon Sylvers and Mic Murphy all hanging out. Damn
Everything gonna be alright.❤❤❤❤❤❤
Just glad Andre made it back from that camping trip. Safely I mean.
Love the shades!
Dude sounds like me and my homies growing up in the PJs cool stuff.
A Cymone looks younger than me!& is almost 20 yrs older than I am.. & thats with him having a wife n kids too? lol! wow he has some sort of ancient secret of youth or the no stress life
This interview could have been better. IF the interviewer was a black person, someone who grew up in the culture. Before I get slammed for playing the RACE CARD, it is obvious he does not have the background to play along with the nuances that Andre was giving. The SuperFly reference. He references The Time and mentions the "commercial" tracks like The Bird and Jungle Love. The Time had several funkier tracks such as "The Stick" and "777-9311". The fact that the interviewer did not flinch when he mentioned a recording session and Leon Sylvers III, Teddy Riley AND Cymone were all together? That deserved a followup. Jody Watley was literally the biggest artist around the late 80s and he did not probe into that. He is more interested in talking about Prince than anything else.
You raise some valid points. Truthful it is impossible to research everything ahead of time and in this case conversations were had with Andre beforehand to try and go where he wanted to go. There are things he didn’t want to talk about. We try to not make it all about prince . We will do a follow up with Andre diving into more stuff. Don’t disagree with the fact that we probably missed a ton. But it remains that this interviewer is a fan of the time prince and Andre.. and is much younger, was three years old when Jodi was big.
@@ryanbetheashow I don't blame the quality of this interview on you, man. Andre didn't seem to want to reveal too much about anything. And definitely didn't want the questions to be all about Prince. He did a lot of talking without saying much. I don't remember hearing any stories about anyone here. Not even himself. Okay. He told us ONE story just now. Okay. He's finally starting to open up and try to tell us something interesting. Finally.
#Love just #LOVE
Ps we need a remist of Kelly eyes re release.
I wonder if there is any kind of recordings with grand central ?
Andre is laid back. I like hearing people that really knew Prince without all the Hollywood stuff. I know Prince gave Andre The Dance Electric & Andre was whew Fine in that video! I wished him & Jody Whatley's marriage had lasted. The earliest recording I have w/Prince is the Minneapolis Genius album by his cousin (by marriage) Pepe Willie released in 1977 when I was 9 years old. I'd love to hear Grand Central when they were young & just had a dream... Looking back, I'm sure they all achieved so much more than their teenage minds could've ever conceived of, but also more heartache than they would've ever believed in this industry. If only this was Andre & Prince just sitting around the camp fire looking back.😥
@@LG-kx8xl i wish i could go into an alternetive universe where Prince didnt take the record deal and stuck it out with grand central and became a GREAT band. Would have been an interesting journey to watch and hear.
Prince establish what he was talking about with the horns on the recordings. Especially the early recordings. Andre circumvented a lot in this interview. But,that's how he always speaks.
wheres the album?
💜💜💜
He does not look like he's in his 60s
I know right? And you can't see it with the jacket on but his body is banging too...
Cool😎
Is the album out yet?
Andre!!!!!
I love Andre Cymone!! So unsung and so talented. The real Prince....Ijs.
Subscribed thanks to this interview, cool stuff!
Thank you
I love Dance Electric and Kelly's Eyes and what he did with Jody Watley. He's also a cutie pie. Must be something in the water he's drinking cause he looks 40 yrs not 62yrs. He also made some dope music with Evelyn Champagne King (Teenager) it's a jam.
Kelly is old girl from summer school n house party play girlfriend and the car when Martin was tell to get out
Yes I have the album dance Electric, my favorite song was Kelly's I I think I was around 12 or 13 when it came out on the radio and I end up going to one of his concerts which was freaking awesome oh, that man was Fine, anyway I drooling over a married man LOL. Also I do remember him doing work for Jody Watley and I have some of the songs he did for Evelyn Champagne King which is one of my favorite songs, which I played constantly over and over back in the day
"A national heritage that we need to take good care of" 🤣😂
What his take on P’s music in later years?
One cool brother.
Yes he is.
He is humble, honest and intelligent.
So glad the legendary AC came out of hiding. BONAFIDE songwriter, musician and hitmaker!
Fun interview, but from a "videos with Prince stories" perspective, I give it a 3 out of 10. It's interesting to watch a former Prince player make such a concerted effort to avoid talking about Prince.
Thanks for watching. It’s a balancing act, you want to honor him as an artist separate from his time with Prince but people want to hear the stories obviously. Appreciate you giving us a listen!
@@ryanbetheashow You guys made the best of it. :)
Well, there’s more to life than just Prince. Try to imagine how you’d feel, he probably gets tired of talking about him. And I don’t blame him he had his own career ya know? 🤨 Prince was a piece of a 🧩in ANDRES WORLD, not his WHOLE 🌎!
@@mrquick6775 I'm sure Prince's janitor had an interesting life too, but my point was, as I said in my original post, if you're specifically looking for videos with people telling Prince stories (as folks on youtube often do...), this video is a total and complete waste of your time.
@@BillkwandoDude. I felt the same way. I wanted to hear about Prince! And for someone who lived in the same house as him for a number of years, he could've really told us a lot we haven't heard before. He just didn't want to. And to think this video is labeled in a way that leads us to think we'd hear something fascinating. Eric Leeds doesn't mind reminiscing about the guy. He's much more cool about sharing his memories about him. Susan Rogers is also great to listen to. And Mr. Hayes. He's great to listen to. Just not Andre Cymone. He wants to talk about everything BUT Prince. That sucks.
Ugh ❤️
What's his secret? The guy honestly looks like he hasn't aged a bit. Did the clock stop for him at age 35???
So many missed opportunities for Andre to tell the back stories. The interviewer did not do his research and kept getting in the way of stories. Great bits from Dre, the interviewer...please get some skills!!
Agreed. He didn’t do his homework and didn’t close when he should have. Still pretty good to hear Andre.
We are all enormous fans of this music and reviewed with Andre what he wanted to talk about. We will be doing another one and if you have specific stories you want told let us know so we can ask him. We tried to honor Andre separate of his work with prince since he is a legendary musician in his own right.
@@ryanbetheashow Well I think you did a great job😊
