My first Prince Concert was in 1981 and Andre Cymone was the bass player...So many times Prince would wander away from the mic and Andre would sing his parts-effortlessly...He is so low key and down to earth...He is the most underated talent to come out of that whole thing...When he left that band Prince lost something-Andre-Dez and Prince were hands down the best version of that band and when Dez left I lost all interest because I didn't like the direction after that...it's kind of sad all three of them never got back together...I can dream...But luckily for me I saw the whole thing up close and personal in Chicago at the best concert venue for what they were doing -THE PARK WEST...Sorry I was so very long winded.

Not to take anything away from the Revolution or NPG; each band was different! It's just those 3 were raw funk n roll! NPG was more classy, a more mature sound! The Revolution was a mixture of both!

Before prince could finish the phrase, Andre was like, "ok, I see what you want." He takes the bass back from Prince and plays exactly what he wants to hear. Pepe is there with his jaw on the floor like, "ok, what's going on here?" lol.

When will the Jim Crow line in rock music be erased? Can you imagine if Andre Cymone and Rick James we’re able to do the Rock and Roll they wanted to do? Prince succeeded...but if you look up the music categories his albums are placed in iTunes.......yup “r&b Soul”. That’s like putting the Stones in “disco” because they made “Miss You”. Our Rock n' Roll culture was unique in America because solo artists could display the vocal and dancing skills, until the invasion of heavy metal. Rock 'n Roll was overlooked as other acts from different cultures saw the opportunity to controlled the masses with visual and digital mediums. It became more about the "look" than the music. They started wearing long hair and leather. Even Elvis was not too pleased about the invasion because he got censored a few times.

Prince was the driving power, he made Minneapolis and its music famous all over the world. I love Morris Day, too, heard some new stuff, but that's by far not as good as the songs Prince wrote for him and the Time, Prince even performed and recorded most instruments on their records. Jessie Johnson seems to think he is a great musician and guitarist, well, he surely is, but Prince was better! I suppose one reason is the fact that Prince worked a hundred times harder for his success than the rest

Let's keep it Real. Its all about The ''IT'' Factor. The Problem in Prince world, these guys came up with a Short Dude yall knew in High School. In that state of Minneapolis, you are not thinking this Guy will One day be who he is. Andre got it going on. But it's not Magic. Andre is a Rock Star, but from a Local Band point of view. Without The Magic of Prince, we would have not heard from that whole scene. And without Prince, we would not be talking to Andre. Andre has a Lenny Kravitz Sexy. But the Buck Stops. He did good work with Jody Whatley, but then. Prince showed us the Rare side of Real Human Musical Magic. He showed us what Having a True Gift is All Bout. In real Life, ''The Musician'' the One who is God Gifted, gets no Respect. Look and Ravel and Mozart. Can you imagine them in their Time? They got no respect. Walking around with a Bad Smell, Farting all day, eating sandwiches with no Meat, but creating the Greatest Work EVER!! Andre the best thing you can do now is get ''Black Children in a warehouse'' and put instruments in their hands. Hip Hop Rap Thug Culture has captivated the unformed Mind, and has got their ''Lost Mind'' locked into Lyrics that enhanced their Broken mind to flow some stupid ass Government funded section 8 Shit that is verbally senseless! Andre seems real to me. He could definitely put Prince on blast but he doesn't out of love. Those two boys loved each other. Their connection is timeless. Prince spoke about his love for Andre. That said, yes Andre knew Prince very well 50 years ago for maybe 15 or 20 of those years but like us all we evolve as people. When I think back to the girl I was she's almost unrecognisable. No one can claim to really know me, only parts of me. We often look inwards to see how that person impacted on our lives + & - and rarely tend to walk a mile in their shoes. Was Prince supposed to give ALL those people his hard earned money for the rest of his life? Pay them fairly for the job they do yes, credit them properly yes, but continue to support them financially? Prince was not a millionaire when Andre left and ploughed his money back into his art I guess for new equipment recording space etc whilst looking after mom dad and family financially. Plus I'm sure his management dealt with financial matters as maybe it didn't interest him back then. If it was us, think about it what would we do at age 24? Walk a mile in their shoes. I think Andre understood that hence leaving and going to take care of his own business. Big respect to Andre. I have his last album 1969 and Black Man in America touched my whole being and is so so relevant today. Andre has more to come 👌

@@mkeyw2226 I think a big part of what happened is Prince became famoys enough and well established enough that he didn't have to write and make music specifically for airplay anymore ... he could make true art ... But even still off the top of my head I remember hearing Batdance, Scandalous, Diamonds and Pearls, My Name is Prince, Sexy MF, Insatiable, The Most Beautiful Girl, Pink Cashmere, let's not even get into the 3121 album's success with the grammy nominated hit "Black Sweat" ... and these are just the songs that got air play ... cuz if you ask me that "Art Official Age" albulm released in 2014 is outrageously fabulous ... This is a seriously crazy thing to debate when Google will tell you all you need to know ... but I think the truly telling indicator of Prince' proflic body of work being his alone, is the fact the no one he's ever worked with has ever denied his capcity for that level of greatness.

He says he wanted to go his own way, so look how that turned out compared to Prince. André left because he felt he wasn't given enough credit for "Do Me, Baby", which he co-wrote with Prince. I also remember reading a comment from Quora about how André produced the song himself, although this wasn't confirmed. He felt left out in Prince's band, got into an argument with Prince, then left. Since the exit, he received 2 instances of shade: in "Lady Cab Driver" (Prince was jealous of André's height and attractiveness) and somewhere in The Time's "What Time is It?" album (Morris Day said that he disliked new wave). The good news, however, is that a few years later, Prince reached out to André to let him sing on "The Dance Electric", and André recalled in a recent interview that it was difficult losing his friend.
