Over 50 years after its release his song still stands out as one of the most beautiful of the rock era. A fantastic job by the lead singer here and the remaining Beach Boys who sound wonderful. Harmony nonpareil.
I read in Mike Love’s book that the lyrics of this were written the night before John F. Kennedy’ assassination. Brian and Mike wrote it with the intention of describing the feeling of lost love and the after effect is leaves. Little did they know, the song would signify so much more meaning, Mike said that the guys could not stop thinking about Kennedy when this song was actually recorded on January 1, 1964. The song ended up symbolizing for them the loss of Kennedy and how he will always be remembered.
The best impression of Brian's voice I have ever heard, not as good but almost. Nobody can duplicate that voice. Shame he lost it due to cigirettes and drugs
Through the years, I've heard many singers attempt to do this gorgeous melody. Indeed, it is as haunting for the harmonies, as the melody itself. I love Vince Gill with BW's great band from 2001------Jeff Foskett from '82 -------Carl, from '74 ------and Papa Doo Run Run from their '85 album, " California Project " , did a gorgeous rendering of the song. The Wilson girls " The Wilsons", also did a sweet version . All that being said, anyone attempting to do this live , knows the challenge ; it is a very tricky melody , & only the best, can do it well. Scott Totten is one of those voices, & I give him great credit for this most worthy addition to the list. The song is gorgeous-------a Masterwork from the young Brian & Mike. ----------MJL
Ol' Mike Love hangin in there....of course they are a bunch of young beachboys but they sound fantastic. I saw the Beachboys in the Seattle Center in their haydays of 1965 and again in the Kingdom, in about 88. 60 years and still doing it....move over Stones.
After a little searching, I found that Scott Totten is the one doing the lead vocal on this song.. he has toured with the Beach Boys since 2000.... his voice seems to fit perfect...
This reminds me of my teen year filled with boy crushes and Sandy Point beach days with my best friend Tracy Davis. Tracy if you're out there, this one's for you.
@@chickchanteuse1 I agree.. you had to be there in that time to understand it. Dion's "Abraham, Martin & John" does the same thing to me when I hear it..
If you saw it happen, it something you don't ever forget.. it meant the end of an era of prosperity and the beginning of tumult for the country after that. Never been the same since!
I'll stick with the original version this sounds more like a bar band .it's never been the same since Carl died and Brian leaving but we still have our memories. Time to hang it up 5 years ago.
I was a freshman in high school when JFK was assassinated. It was the first assassination and so shocking. But we got used to it quickly. MLK and RFK when I was in college. When I hear this song it represents a loss of innocence, never to be regained
Give that Mike Love wrote Good Vibrations (by both Mike’s and Brian’s admission), it isn’t far fetched that the dude can write some lyrics. He’s still an asshole.
Brian is not there and chooses not to do so. So if anybody sang lead it should have been Jeff I believe his voice is stronger than this guys. But I do give this guy credit tough a ton of credit. He's the reason they have brought back the original arrangements of the classic songs which for years they never did!
Greg Allan Brian's voice is no good. Would sound horrible and not worth paying to see. Check out the RUclips videos of Brian's concerts. Save your money.

This song stays in your head. Stunning.
Song song do Joey King conjuring movie she knows was
One of the prettiest songs they wrote. Beautiful harmonies.
And by "they" you must have meant Brian Wilson.
Mike love as much part of the creation of this song as Brian Wilson, Ive seen Brian in concert and mentioned how Mike and him wrote the lyrics.
Vince Gill does an excellent job with this song as well as the Wilson girls

THE perfect slow dancing song to hold the girl of your dreams to !!!!
One of my top five favorite songs of all time.
The best impression of Brian's voice I have ever heard, not as good but almost. Nobody can duplicate that voice. Shame he lost it due to cigirettes and drugs
A fav for sure. That guitarist/singer nailed Brian's sound. Not an easy song to sing.
Gorgeous song, I hope they'll bring it back to the setlists one day
I just heard it at Winstar last night. I shed a tear when Brian Eichenberger went into the last falsetto. It was beautiful.

Me too Derek Llewellyn feel like 2001 in biran
I can do it at 70 years of age, but no one will ever hear it, which is fine.

Scott has been the glue for the band these past 15 years or more
I have to agree!
Sing lead and play lead! WOW!
It doesn't get any better than this!
Scott really does a great job on this!
This reminds me of my teen year filled with boy crushes and Sandy Point beach days with my best friend Tracy Davis. Tracy if you're out there, this one's for you.
haunting tune... nice song
Tough to do live and they did a great job, my favorite song
Never gets old . . .
What a lovely song!
Nice but makes me appreciate so much more the purity of Brian's falsetto on the original.
tremenda banda de los 60 buena voz casi original los beach boys por siempre
Wonderful..their best for me!!!!!!
The way Mike Love sounds when he was telling the history of the song seems like he's still a bit saddened over Kennedy's death.
All if us who were there to live it are all still saddened by his death. I know I will never be completely over JFK, MLK and RFK's deaths.

Remembering JFK Today...11/22/2021🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
We all are. It was a terrible tragedy.
Well done Scott ! Such a gorgeous song. ---------------------MJL, 76 y/o
Mike Love...still the VW hood ornament on the Rolls Royce... 😂
You are perfectly right Steve.
The gent singing Brian’s original part is fabulous!
Scott Trenton
@@coolcutsgal2 Scott Totten
great👍beatiful melody song!

Great vocals from Scott Totten...
Yes, this man has a nice voice.
This song has replaced a song that was in my head 24/7 for two weeks Dire Straights "wild West End"
Best love song ever
Scott does a great job on this, I saw him do it last Month. He's a cool person as well
Very sad about president Kennedy’s death but Scott Totten sounds awesome on this one
This is like a Karen Carpenter moment, there is just nothing comparable since....probably never ever will be :+(
only mike from the original outfit , but Bruce is there on kb aswell.
This is not the BB...it is Mike Love and his band.
Love it. ❣
beautiful...
Posiblemente la mejor balada de todos los tiempo, con el respeto de Solo dios sabe...
My cousin and me. Yeah right Mike Love
Brian wrote it. Not mike love. Love is always trying to take credit for Brian's genius.
Give me Brian's voice... Forget this one, as fast as you can.
Beautiful song. The original, that is.
🤗🤗🤗

So right you are. I was in 7th grade but I do remember. This song.brings me splice. Bless you Felicia. Cameron
Meant to say solice
I never got used to it.
There is no beach boys without Brian Wilson.
You are quite right Lisa... This is dreadful eh.
Im free for a gig in chicago - Have a fender!
Good but hes no Jeff foskett ,he was the original vocalist on there incredible falsetto
Jeff Foskett ...I believe ?
Almost had me believing the cover band (which is what it is) was tolerable with Totten, Cowsill & Foskett.

Mike Love?
OMG - Love is dead - Now what for the BB's?
Check out the Vince Gill version...much better.
Gorgeous song. I’m always skeptical of Mike Loves interpretations of his contributions however
Give that Mike Love wrote Good Vibrations (by both Mike’s and Brian’s admission), it isn’t far fetched that the dude can write some lyrics. He’s still an asshole.
I feel the same about Mike Love too.
This one is actually true, all the members have confirmed this.
Good job, but there's only one Beach Boy on stage.
Two, Bruce Johnstone is also there and he’s been with the group since 1965.
@@elchingon6759 True, but I still think of him as the 'new guy'.
@@hot88s23yep, really, he replaced Glen Campbell
Too bad that Mike didn't want to sing the song he wrote. Didn't he sing the original? Brian just played backing piano. Mike rules.
Mike never sang that high.
Hilarious attempt at a troll
this is really good, but jeff foskett did it better.
JFK
CARL was the equal of any of them.
+1,000 Ken
Brian's voice was the perfect boys teen angst. This sounds a tad feminine. Good effort though.
What's the point? This guy sounds nothing like BW
California
only one beach boy
sin brian no es nada
Just not the same without Brian
sigh
Immense song ,but a cop out stooge performance. Brian should lead this.

You are correct - horrible attempt!
Mike Love is effing insufferable.
I agree. Low brow, low class, crazy, dirty, fucking weirdo.
@@alanwilson2073 ?? how so? Never heard this before.....
He's a pompous ass with a very high opinion of himself.
