In case you’re reading comments. Maybe drop another bed in your base on the outside on one of the spammed foundations. This way when you eat org. Polymer or fast travel you can select the bed that isn’t inside of a structure that the hawk can’t properly deliver to. The hawk is great but definitely a little buggy.
Great idea, just have to hope something hasnt spawned inside the base since apparently foundation spam doesnt seem to be enough to stop creatures from doing so XD
Hey Syn, great vid as usual. I use a single daedon with about 12 - 15k health and a primitive saddle to get a bunch of perfect tame desmodus. They shouldn't be able to kill the daedon (I don't use the passive healing either). 1) I ghillie up and head in, net everything, kill the ones I don't want and then toss out the daeodon and sneak away before the last net breaks on the one I want to tame. 2) I let it pick up the daeodon a bunch of times until it hits a 100%, then take my ghillie off and let it pick me up. 3) It usually takes 3 pick ups for it to be tamed (3x rates), so after the first two pick ups, I let it have the daeodon again to top it back off to 100% effectiveness. Also, I prefer the cave near the wyvern trench on the volcano island, I tame them in the cave before the main chamber, so I don't have to worry about fall damage or being dropped into lava. Also, you will probably have to whistle the daeodon to move around a few times. The bat seems to have a roughly 10 second window where it's not agro'd on whatever it just fed on. At least with the daeodons, that's how it seems to work. Lastly, when I'm in the air with the bat, I put my ghillie back on before it drops me. Thanks for the great content! I'm writing this as I'm watching, so forgive me if this is old news. If you accidentally hit the bat while attempting any stage of the tame, it resets it's progress to 0%, and it's effectiveness to 50%. However....and this is a big however....you can still get it to 100% by using the daeodon method all over again. So you won't permanently screw up a high level tame.
20:38 Yes, they are amaizing creatures to move, they were one of my first creatures i tame on fjordur but some times there are actual problem with render but not big
The rendering issue depends on the map's stability and what/how many assets are being loaded. Maewing can be great on less busy maps like the Island or Valguero, in my experience. I've noticed that moving too fast on Extinction seems to cause crashes (although that theory came up when I was using a Managarmr as opposed to a Maewing).
@@JohnSmith-sz8qq tuff, mine can tank for long enough and I just slide into the water, I kill alpha carnos underwater and alpha raptors on land, also I got 3 mutations on 4 babies haha
Mayings on console are still good but the rendering does make everything choppy, the glides to fast though so for console if I use anything with with a dive/glide effect while flying I use snow owls.
@@DYOSCO_ I have my sensitivity realy high so I can fly things with glide sense I use them so much and then when I get on a wyvern (which has terrible turning radius) it’s just way to fast for the wyvern to keep up lol
Wait how would I get a maewing to glide on PS4 all I get is just it jumping up into the air and then the slow parachute straight down I have not been able to get a maewing to glide but I can get a rock drake to glide just fine same with a snow owl and a griffon
In regards to your question about consoles yes the fast fly speed causes a decent bit of frame chugging, specially as i pass over ANYWERE with a cave to load all that on my original 500gb ps4. My friends ps4 pro has a harder time since fps isn't hard capped so the maewing belly flop dust effects nearly send his ps4 pro into ovetheat from render issues.

I love the Maewings so much, by far one of my favourite creatures added to Ark. I had a house for breeding them and collecting their eggs for kibble and eventually I got a green mutated one I named the Mossman. 🥰❤️
Idk if anyone has said this yet BUT thylas aren’t on the trees since there a different model then the ones they do hang on. I’ve been around everywhere and never seen them on trees! There only on the floor and on rare case you can find X thylas. Though finding high levels seem to be hard. If you want a lot of X thylas you can go to the orange protal and there in the red area. So yeah. You can travel peacefully in there without worry since there aren’t any that will jump you
Syntac, if you get a creature that the bat can carry you can level the HP really high and then you wont have to have it killed by a bat you are taming, it will grab it fly away with it do some damage and the effectiveness will raise, then you repeat until it is 100 effectiveness and let it get you! I did this with an Ovis with high HP. Took a hot minute tho.
That was a pretty smooth tame on that bat when it was stuck on that rock. Trapping them might be a good option to get a perfect one. Also It almost has the same colours as plasma 1 ^^
Standard xbox one player, using external SSD. Rendering is usually okay, gets a bit jumpy when moving quickly or in a dense area On servers it sometimes black screen kicks me, but single player just locks up for a second then is fine.
I find it easier to see the location on the map. I struggle to find co-ordinates as it takes me a lot longer. If I see the map I can get a better idea for where to go. So it is useful to sow both! :) It may be the same "place" but some people just find it easier using the map! :)
Whenever you go the ice part of the map to tame any creature there, be aware cause there is a rune guarded by a purlovia... You might have a heart attack
There are 2 places you should check out on this map, there is a cave in the water near the vulcano that leads to a no-gravity cave that is the coolest thing you will ever see, and than you have the abbys underwater and its absolutaly terifying, its the place where the mosa's spawn and yeah its dark and deep and radiation in some places
20:35 no the maewing is probably the worst mount on console because if you go to fast in single player (idk about multiplayer) your game will crash and at that speed the game won't have enough time to load in the rest of the map.
About the fast travelling with Fjordhawk to deliver farmed items - The game doesn't register that u don't have items anymore. I fixed it by picking up my sleeping mates GPS and giving it back to him and then the game realized I wasn't carrying anything
I don't know if you know already but the desmodus taming effectiveness starts at 50% or 55%, something like that and you have to raise the effectiveness by letting it pick up a tamed dino like a moschops or something similar with blood packs in their inventory. Sorry if you already knew this!

Using Maewings on Console (PS4) works surprisingly good. I love traveling with them and also would say they are my favorite travel mount. But it also depends on the map and area you are in. For example on Gen1 in the snow it dangerous to move with anything slightly quick xD But moving on the non-story maps with them is fantastic Appreciate your videos ;)
It's not really a vanilla thing to do. It's a mod and syn has said this actually. He doesn't do that because you cant do it in vanilla so doesn't want to. The only reason syn uses dino-storage is for breeding and to stop cryo sickness. It doesn't give him any advantage.
FYI. The castle in the redwoods is a reference to Isenguard from LotR. It’s supposed to be after Treebeard and the Ents took it back. The little building in the center is supposed to be the tower if it was destroyed
I’m a console player and have to admit, the Maewing definitely worries me when I fly around on it. The Flyer nerf was great for Console because fast flyers tend to be a little buggy. That being said though, fast flyers are still fun just more risky lol.
fun tip. if you use the screech/sonar at night with the desmodus and then attack once its highlighted, you'll deal a fair bit of bonus damage to the creature
20:45 Until recently, I've only ever played Ark on PS4/PS5, and the rendering on maewings was as good as I could hope for. Some freezes here and there, like with tbe Fjordur Aberration cave, at worst.
8:20 don't forget Syn some people play official or less boosted stats so they may wanna go check it out when they don't have a gps yet and trying to triangulate with just the map is horrible since you're normal off.
I find that with the Dino's that gain speed when u get close to max speed, things either take ages to load or the game just crashes Or it's cause I'm on a Xbox one s
If you dive downward on the desmodus you can periodically press x while diving downwards to launch yourself up and forward. This is a tactic I’ve been using to get around on them about twice as quick. Figured it’s a bit late since you already have a maewing, but it’s still a nice tip.
I recently went to Vanaheim and got so lucky cause I was after a Poison Wyvern and the second egg I found was a 180 Shortly before that, I got a 170 Fire Wyvern egg after around 7 to 8 other eggs and now Doomsday, Mjolnir and Aqua are my primary mounts. Soon Cobra will join them and my army shall grow!
showing the map is super helpful instead of just the gps. It help me get to the general area way quicker. Coords are only nice if u absolutely cant find something.
20:45 bro even on a series s a griffin at it's slowest is too fast lol. Oh btw, there's element shards in the magmasaur cave at the end of the wyvern trench, and once you get enough element, you should tame a ferox, and then put a viking helmet on it. It's kind of dopy but also really cool.
Sending a bunch of moschops in there is PERFECT to choose the desmo you want but also to get the effectivness to 100%, ofc you need moschops with quite a lot of HP
I assure you that any experiences with dead stuff anybody has had don't even compare to my experiences with mutation stacking rexes. One time, after I killed a baby Rex (got the text, xp, and everything) it continued to run away, and then lured a flock of argies to my base. While being dead.
I found a cave yesterday, it's near the portals cave, to the left on the other side of a waterfall. It only has Dire Bears, Equus & Dimorphs spawning in it. At least 1 Rune there too.
The high alpha spawns are for runestones and for world bosses and collect them and put them in the terminals you want to fight a few because the relic spawn is chanced
I play on console and use the maewing all the time and I got to say it is an absolute headache to use when switching between biomes. It’s still worth the trouble though. Also great video!

with my experiences the maywings hard to controlle
maewings r fine on like next gen consoles but unless your sensitivity is high it’s harder to speed up

Could you just go out of render distance to reset the desmondus tame effectiveness. Before starting the tame that might work

i found 2 back to back 170 fire wyvern eggs then 30 min later went to azgard and got a 180 rockdrake egg

That bat cave in the beginning, we usually put some foundations and doorways in the front to stop the bats from going outside the cave.

Sending a bunch of moschops in there is PERFECT to choose the desmo you want but also to get the effectivness to 100%, ofc you need moschops with quite a lot of HP
I assure you that any experiences with dead stuff anybody has had don't even compare to my experiences with mutation stacking rexes. One time, after I killed a baby Rex (got the text, xp, and everything) it continued to run away, and then lured a flock of argies to my base. While being dead.

The Maewings main attack isn't biting, it does more damage and has better AOE when u use the bellyflop. I never use the bite cuz I miss all the time.

I found a cave yesterday, it's near the portals cave, to the left on the other side of a waterfall.
It only has Dire Bears, Equus & Dimorphs spawning in it. At least 1 Rune there too.

If you go to the coast on the bottom of redwoods there Is a HUGE WATER FALL CAVE By the mountain you found your first rune that you can build in

The high alpha spawns are for runestones and for world bosses and collect them and put them in the terminals you want to fight a few because the relic spawn is chanced

I play on console and use the maewing all the time and I got to say it is an absolute headache to use when switching between biomes. It’s still worth the trouble though. Also great video!

I am using that house by the lake with the pink tree as my current base. It’s nice and peaceful. My Andrewsarchus handles any wayward Bary’s that pop up.
