When you want to gather berries with a maewing, you gotta press RMB and spam LMB after the initial belly flop. This is, to me, one of the best berry and fibre gathering methods.
the maewing you have to be at an upward angle...like going up a hill to harvest properly. Their hitbox is really weird. Also looking straight downward on the 3rd person cam helps too.
Syntac giving me nostalgia from the good old days bro. I still tame Frogs in every playthrough because of how good they were, I raid beaver dams too but nothing compares to the nostalgia of hopping around on a frog collecting instant cementing paste from insects.
Hi Syntac, just a tip for taming pigs: They can be carried by argies and wvyerns, and it's best to bite them once or twice with a wyvern beforehand so they heal themselves and drain their food, then tranq them with darts. That way you don't kill them and they're starved the second they go unconscious.
Would love if you breed like an uber frog with mutations stacked so it can handle the cave by itself. The frogs have kinda nice color regions, so you could make a red and black one or yellow and black. Like a poison dart frog.
I hope they do end up doing a few more TLC's before Ark 2. I know it's probably not on WC list of things to do but it'd be nice to see for some of the outdated creatures.
I doubt it but they are adding a new apex sometime soon that will be the natural predator of the Giga. It’ll finally add some more balance to the game, Spinos will be their natural predator though
I’d imagine for getting paste in that cave; if you turned off corpse harvesting on the megatherium, and set it on neutral, it could take out the bigger creatures which would allow for the froggo to harvest them. PS: name for the frog - Frodo
Thylas don’t work too well on that boss, I did some intense breeding on mine and brought 10 of them to fight and it took a good 10 minutes! I highly recommend Gigas!
Hey Syntac, I have been watching through this series finally after waiting for a bunch of episodes to come out (I like binge watching). And in Episode 1 you mentioned on how you wont be able to get Mjolnir due to settings you may have or something. What I wished to suggest is perhaps, if you can beat the bosses of the map, then you could spawn the weapon in or something. As a way for you to use it in your playthrough and show it off to us the viewers.
One thing about a potential Frog TLC, I hope they make that tongue attack omnidirectional (or make its hitbox huge). I dont even mind if animation stays same its just so annoying to hit those meganeura circling around my head.
When are you gonna be building the new base?! I’m looking forward to see what location you pick and I’m always interested in seeing how creative people get with their builds!
I've been using Deaodons for the Desmodus, get a decent saddle and put passive healing on and it'll almost negate the damage the Desmodus do to them. Tames all the same
You should try the better dinos mod it adds the kangaroo jump to the frog, and changes a ton of other dinos for the better. If you end up not liking the changes in a few you can go to options on the dinos and revert them to normal.

To answer a question you asked about Steinbjorn, you cannot bleed it or do other general damage debuffs to it, though I think the Deinonychus bleed works on it. If I remember, I'll test it sometime. They're treated like rock elementals in terms of damage resistances (90% DR from basically all creatures), but Gigas and Velonasaurs deal full damage to it. Due to this behavior, I don't think wyvern breath affects it either, so no lightning breath abuse. You can kinda cheese it with a Velo on an upper ledge near the back of the cave where you can shoot it and it can't hit you. If you're interested there's a video on RUclips about it I'm pretty sure. Aside from that, could have fun just shooting a million rockets at it, but 900 damage a rocket into 300k HP...have fun with that. Honestly, just either use a Velo or Gigas, and the fight is pretty trivial.
What's your opinion on flyers being disabled on the three realms? It gives the desmodus a more acute use, but you'd think they'd either go no flyers at all, or all flyers.
My friend and I have also made our base at the same castle as you and have discovered that you can put cliff platforms on the walls. We are on xbox so no special permits required XD
Trivia : if you ever failed a wild tame at 100% effectiveness and its downed. it doesnt matter if you can access the inventory or if its a passive tame (like tropeognathus) , you can just always wake them up by Whipping them in order to reset the tame! YES! theres an item called "Whip" in ark. you can also use it to wake up your tamed dinos who are "unconscious" . surprisingly they work pretty well than stimulants.
I'm living on the swamp island, in the castle, and honestly it's not the danger that is making me consider moving, it's the fact that it gets so dark! You lose all the ambient light as soon as your on or above the island and even torches barely penetrate it
From what we got for an event this year...i dont know how much we are getting tlc Wise. They did hold that pole for new structures though...so who knows. Granted that was super low key a survey.
If you spam the bellybutton attack on the maewing it will harvest most of the time for some reason you have to spam the button fast for it to harvest bushes/berries.
It will not affect the taming effectiveness. I use an argy that way i can hover bite, make it use the heal ability at that it will stqrt to starve out. I repeat the process a few times and when i knock it out it is ready to feed sometimes close to being ready to feed.
Hello Syntac. I really enjoyed your content. I just play Ark last month after it went free at steam. I just wanted to ask, can you craft soul traps at official servers? because i just noticed using soul trap is faster than the cryopads.
Honestly for Desmo taming if you put blood packs into whatever you are using to boost the effectiveness up it doesn't really matter what you use as it will feed from the blood packs rather then the creature itself. Only thing have to worry about is when it does not instant grab and smacks the creature a few times but anything with ok health can handle it till its grabbed again. I used moschops with a couple hundred packs thats was just bred for imprint and it did just fine.
There’s Fungal wood everywhere in the ocean. It comes from those flat-ish irregularly shaped coral reefs. Hit them with a hatchet and whams fungal for days

You can bleed a Dragon on this map, so you can use just 1 Doedicurus with good saddle armor, and Wivern milk to beat him. This is a good element farming method.
Somebody probably already said this but, close by the castle is a cave with shout outs to people on the Walls. Syntac is also mentioned with a big statue of a gally.

Hey Syntac one of the best places if not the best to get fish for Shadowmane is behind the Megapithcus terminal in the Abberant Cave. There will be a crazy amount of X sabertooth salmon there that are very easy to get just watch out because 2-3 leeches spawn there. Hope this helps!
The tames you're using for taming desmodus don't need high health since they won't get hurt. You have to make sure to put blood packs in the creature before the desmodus picks it up or it will take blood from your tame instead of the bloodpacks. Moschops work perfectly fine

I remember on gen2 map flying not that low when i was knocked off and stunned wasn't sure what happen it ended up being a shadowmane but there were lower level but I was very surprised at how high they can actually teleport or what ever it is called. as soon as iheaard that Ark2 is only third person view it made slightly doubt that i wll grab it

Yaaaa frogs! They need a tlc badly, just a damage buff to all bugs and the ability to aim your attack would be huge. Server I'm on I have some 53 health and 53 melee ones I'm working on.
It would be nice if the frog could get cementing paste from anything that carries chitin, since I’m pretty sure the idea is it uses its saliva and the chitin to make the cementing paste.
I tried with a 16x Rex army with Deinos supporting and the Deinonychus bleed DOES seem to work on Steinbjorn, but he's so tanky and does so much damage, I think the only reasonable options are Gigas and Velonosaurs (the same way you beat the rock golem boss on Rag). Velos DEFINITELY work if you can get up on a ledge and cheese it a tiny bit. It takes a lot of stam, but it does the job.
I know he'll only be used for breeding, really, but if you decide to name your male daedon, you should name him Rorschach, since he was incredibly aggressive beyond the point of sanity, and when you tried to trap him, you ended up trapped in there with him. :P

theres a little pond in the swamp castle that my buddies and i breed frogs in. its protected and shallow
you can shoot knocked dinos with trang arrows or bullets but they must have some health left to make sure that they don't die.
That decreases taming effectiveness if a Dino is damaged while it's knocked out.
In mobile, frogs are really cool too! there are even eerie variants that GLOW IN THE DARK... The glow regions constantly shift colors!
Syntac I recomend you start an ARK mobile series... Mobile is very unique, even if it's only the island....
