One thing is that if you put blood packs in the daeodon, the desmodus will not hurt the pig when it grabs it. So the effectiveness of the bat goes up, the daeodon doesn't die and the taming bar doesn't go up unless you are the one being grabbed
Combination of both works best imo. Good health stats and lots of meat for all the drops it'll take (Desmodus really likes dropping things from up high) and blood packs for the effectiveness.

For the animals youre taming the Desmodus with, if you put them on wander, it seems to attract the bat a lot faster. Also if you put blood packs on the animal it wont hurt them. We used moschops and were able to get 100% TE. After it chews on you let it chew on an animal again before it tames to keep 100%.
My strategy for taming desmodus: 1. Drop out an daeodon and crouch under its chin 2. Aggro the desmodus and let it pick up the daeodon 3. Walk under the daeodon while its falling to the ground and repeat until taming effectiveness ist at 100% 4. Let the Desmodus pick you up and start taming it, if the effectiveness drops feed it another daeodon 5. Use a sanguine elixir to finish the taming process
Use ghillie, throw out daedon, let it get 100%, let it feed from you 2 times (will drop 2% effectiveness when finishing a feed on you), daedon once more to go back to 100%, back on you last feed. so simple very easy. Cave at 45 / 76 under the water fall, very small cave drop from desmo doesnt really even hurt, if it does, just use a bloodpack.

There’s a subspecies of Vesper Bat called the Eastern Greenish Yellow Bat so the name I suggest is “Vesper” since your new guy has a green hairdo.
Easiest way I found was just to lay down and have the moschops on follow and crowd around me. That way, even if it targets you, it grabs the tames instead. Whistle them away when you want it to grab you. Very possible to tame multiple at once this way, since you control when you get grabbed and the desmos stay at 100%, feeding on tames until you want to let them feed on you. Have soul gun ready to pick up tamed ones
I think mutated desmodus could be used for the manticore fight cause they are fast and surprisingly have good stats, pair the healing with blood packs with a good saddle and your stacked
In the smaller cave, if you remove all dead bodies and leave render new ones spawn instantly. We also set up double door frames near the entrance to the cave to have a safe place to throw daedons out while not needing to be on a stego.
Hey! Don’t know if you remember this but you can find fungal wood in the ocean as the mushroom bits, you did it when it was still a mod so I’m not sure if you remember or not! You’ve been saying you need fungal wood for a few episodes now and I’ve just been forgetting to comment lol
Hey! Been watching for a while and I don't usually leave comments as tips cause youre obviously really good at this game but it's been killing me! I used a Bary to go into the Rock Drake cave and got myself a good one with good stam and just leveled a ton into that. Then I went and tamed the Desmodus and stole eggs from different wyvern trenches. Their invisibility and rock climbing abilities are literally the best for climbing up and killing the Desmodus that you don't want or for checking the levels on eggs without dismounting. And you can pull weapons out on the back I think so if you need to draw agro or throw other creatures down, it's amazing.
I'm surprised no one has mentioned this, but there is an area that you can tame high level (and only high level Desmodus) without going into a cave. There is a small spot above the tunnel leading to the artifact cave in the volcano mountain that has a overlapping spawn area above ground for Desmodus, its where the lava river flows. There is a small section there why spawn in the lava river, do the ceiling attach maneuver, and if they're low level they instantly die while leaving high levels with low hp. You can easily kite then from there into a trap you build nearby, and by the time you have trapped/tamed a Desomos, new ones have already spawned. If I could post pics from imgur I would show where the spot is exactly.

Syntac, it’s much more effective to put blood packs in the pigs inventory to have the bat eat those instead of the health of the pig. The effectiveness will go up much faster.

@@brandonhurley8983 Taming effectiveness rises faster the more damage they deal. Don't use a saddle to make ur tame last longer, that makes it take longer. Dont use traps, when they carry ur sacrifice into the wall they drop it. From my experience it took a long time with 3 Moschops or 4 Phiomia rotating them so they wouldn't die. Daedon is best imo.
Syntac, if you go to the redwood cave, it has so many bugs that you get so much blood really really fast. Closest teleport is Vannaland East (North). Keep flying, moving, and attacking to get a lot of blood. Only thing is to be careful of your HP and arthos. Arthos will do the most damage over time since they are high level. As soon as you attack the insects swarm you and the blood comes in. Cords for the cave is: 10.1, 84.5 Enjoy the bloodbags everyone, make sure to have a decent amount of HP
Been meaning to tell you, you can get FUNGAL WOOD outside of that large basalt cave. Just outside, in the water. The large, flat mushroom looking trees in the water. You can also get fungal wood in the hidden aberration cave within the mines of Moria where the Rock Drakes used to spawn. There’s also gas veins in there (at least 3) if you want to cap those off while you’re there.
Syn should name the current Desmodus "The Bat Who Laughs," after the alternate universe Batman who was infected with the chemicals that originally changed the Joker, making him a combination of Batman and Joker, since it already has the Joker-colored hair. :P
In the big cave you can agro the Desmodus by flying by them and kite it down to where your sacrificial tame(pig) is on the ground. The Desmodus will likely fly back to the ceiling when it's done feeing on your pig. Wait 10 seconds and then go agro and kite the Desmodus back to your pig. If you fly to the left or right of your pig at the same level, the Desmodus has a better chance to ignore you and grab the pig.

I have seen people have a group of 6-8 moschops tame 5 desmodus at a time in a larger cave where they could get out of the way and just let them pick up the moschops until it was time to go in and get them tamed, so you can do more than one at a time if you have more room.
That 2nd cave is bigger and better with a very small amount of spiders and onycs (easy kills) past left side of vardiland N North. Big enough to allow you to net what you want and kill the rest. A moschops works very well too just make sure you put blood packs on the creature your using for taming effectiveness
I've got 2 gates up at that desmodus waterfall cave with enough room for me to run through but the bats get stuck and you can shoot them, jump in their legs, or throw out tames. Put blood packs on your tames to reduce the damage the bats do and then they can pull your tames through the gap between the gates. Ive tamed 3 high levels at the same time with moschops doing this, all 100% effectiveness.
I will put my taming method down bellow(it works better in the waterfall cave). I killed all the low levels and then built a barricade using doorframes and foundations. I don’t know if they can damage wood, so use stone. For me, 3 stone fence foundations and 10 doorframes did the trick. Depending on where you put them, you may need more or less. This is great because you can lead them to the exit of the cave and kill them while they get stuck in the doorframes.
when i tamed my desmodus i named it Desmodeus (the real name is Asmodeus wich is the name of one of the devils of hell like for example Lucifer and Lillith). The name really fits in my opinion because of obvious reasons (it is one of the most scary and horrorfying creatures both to tame and to exist in arks history) Also, love your videos Syn.

Going prone next to your daedons usually tricks the Desmodus into picking them up, if they pick you up then you can punch away from them barefisted to get out pretty easily. Way fast then waiting for them to pick up your tames.
a couple things my tribe learned while taming desmodus (for everyone, not just syntac) #1 you don't have to kill them all, lead them all out of the cave so theres space then lead the one you want back in, we did this when there were 2 150's and a 145 #2 putting blood bags inside the inventory of your creature won't raise progress, but it will prevent the desodus from damaging it while being carried, pair this with a sadle and a single creature can live much longer, we use phiomia with veggie cakes since the daedon hunger tends to run low #3 if you want a true 100%, feed it blood until it is above 70% tamed, then feed it the tame, then use the elixer #4 ignore the internet, moschops are TERRIBLE for taming them, reason beng they don't have access to quick healing like herbivores and daedon, and they don't have access to saddles, meaning desmodus bites hurt more #5 the desmodus bite does not raise taming affinity, only while it is carrying a creature #6 the desmodus taming affinity goes up faster as it gets higher, at the beggining it goes up by about 0.1, this will be it for a while, but you'll start to notice it goes up by 0.15 every increment, then 2, and after it hits 3 it goes up even faster, quickly reaching .5 per increment, this sounds like it takes forever, but every time the desmodus carries a tame it goes up by 5 increments before dropping it #7 this one is opinion over fact, so noone is obligated to listen here, but I like syntacs method of using the stego, it garuntees you will not accidentally feed the desmodus past what you want to, when we were taming them we went invisible on our desmodus, used shadowmanes, or very early before we had either of these, ghilli and cactus broth if you found any of this useful please share this info with your tribemates, family, or friends
I think I heard somewhere that you need to be moving in order for the desmodus to grab you instead of bite. I set my moschops to passive and wandering and I tried a daedon with passive flee. They grabbed them pretty often. Maybe see how that works next time around?
Hey syntac one of the bigger desmodus caves you can have one Desmo pick you up and then deploy a parachute when it drops you and if there another one they will just pick you up take blood drop and repeat and you won’t die or lose any up

Any place that verifies that. When i did it myself i found 0 difference in the speed the taming effectiveness increased, with and without blood packs.

The Stego idea is genius, been breeding Daes to go for higher ones. Even at low to mid levels, Des are such a great flyer.

#7 this one is opinion over fact, so noone is obligated to listen here, but I like syntacs method of using the stego, it garuntees you will not accidentally feed the desmodus past what you want to, when we were taming them we went invisible on our desmodus, used shadowmanes, or very early before we had either of these, ghilli and cactus broth

I think I heard somewhere that you need to be moving in order for the desmodus to grab you instead of bite. I set my moschops to passive and wandering and I tried a daedon with passive flee. They grabbed them pretty often. Maybe see how that works next time around?
Yea you have to be a moving target for the desmodus to grab you otherwise it just bites a few times first
With this green hair patch you might not be able to make a Batman... but it's a perfect material for a Joker :D

Hey syntac one of the bigger desmodus caves you can have one Desmo pick you up and then deploy a parachute when it drops you and if there another one they will just pick you up take blood drop and repeat and you won’t die or lose any up
