For all Albanian nationalist, an undisputed fact to prove Eprius is Greek is that Epirotes could join Olympic games which only Greeks can join. In 121 Olympiad, 296BC, a Epirote Greek named Tlasimachos from the city of Ambrakia won Foals' Tethrippon of Olympic games.

For the ancient Greeks, Epirus was not just a Greek area but it was the birthplace of the Greek nation. Today, it is widely accepted that the names Greeks and Hellenes derives from Epirote groups.

For Albanian nationalist that said ancient Greek authors called Epirotes Greeks as Barbarians, you misunderstood meaning of the term. While it is true that "barbarian" was used to describe foreigner, it is also used to call Greeks from other polis, especially by Athenians. Athenians calls anyone who was not democratic as barbarians because they are different, e.g Thessalians.

Is that true that many classical Greeks treated Epirotes as not fully Greek (kinda like Macedonians but still more Greek). Or was it just Athenians being angry that Epirotes had monarchy instead of democracy?

Its simple. The Molossians Thesprotians Haonians all spoke a Greek Doric dialect unlike illyria who spoke a language of its own. Epiros has no connection with Illyria. Everything else is ultranationalistic propaganda from albania. All of the findings in Epiros are Greek
