I am a retired family physician and my fantasy side hustle was to offer my services to take patients to doctor appointments. While I wouldn’t involve myself in their care directly, I could take notes and do some translation of the medical jargon. Like your 25 side hustles, I suspect this could be quite lucrative!

I think the amount of disposable income varies a lot depending on the city, the cost of living in that city and the prevailing salary levels and local levels of unemployment. People may well be paying the amounts Nicole is referencing in this video in Toronto but that’s not the case in Victoria where cost of living is massively high and salaries are comparatively low, especially when considering the cost and extremely high cost of housing (compared to local salaries). For the majority, there’s not a lot of spare cash after they pay their mortgage and buy groceries. If they also have children, cost of daycare is likely sending them into overdraft. If the market is there where you are though, go for it. Wax those brows, pick up those poops and change out those tires and watch the cash roll in.
I pick up the mail and check on a vacation home 2x week for $50. I still get paid if they come out for the week. Just having a human on hand to check on things is valuable to the owners.
My first side hustle was selling Coca-Cola to construction workers out of my little red wagon at age 5. I lived on a dead end street that was being developed into a huge suburb. Sold out every day.
About 20 yrs ago, i met a lovely lady who's business was home handy gal/painting. Her work was mostly with older ladies. Most women, particularly if they're alone, frail, or anxious, aren't particularly keen on having a strange man in their home to do work. This gal did great word of mouth, and had many repeat customers for everything from moving/assembling furniture, carpet cleaning, simple plumbing fixes, lots of painting, and the like.
Anything in the pet industry (if you do not get burned out with the customer service side aka 'dealing with people' hahaha) can be lucrative. I had a very successful pet care business that had staff at one point because it kept growing. I burned out because I am not built to manage people and forgot my original reason why I started it in the first place (the pets). Lawn mowing I can say is realy good. When my brother and I were around 11 or so years of age we got into it by chance. A local builder had done some units for a government contract. Part of it was the lawns had to be mowed for 6 weeks. As our father, who had a carying business, brought the sand and gravel for the concreting, he ask dad if we would do the lawns. We were happy to help. Dad applied and got the contract to mow the lawns from there, us boys done the work. Dad bought us a second mower. From there we had to buy fuel etc for mowers. We bit by bit ended up with 20 or more lawns. Where we lived was high rainfall, and lawns needed doing every week for a lot of the year. $1 a lawn if we used the customers mower, $2 if we used ours. On a Saturday we would go from around 8 am to 6 pm or so. Then after school some days. This is 1968 or so. Wages was around a dollar an hour for an adult. We were earning around $30 plus a week at 10 or 12 years old. More than pocket money
Yes, did she say "calm your tits"? That's not a good look, and is the only thing I didn't like from this channel. And I'm NOT from the South, but I still thought it went by too fast to be sure.
I build computers when i find cheap parts. Most people dont want to go all over the place and put it all together and are happy to just pay for the whole computer. Nothing fancy, just a basic computer to do school reports and internet research on
Some other pet industry hustles that do not require skills or experience: "Pet wedding attendant". Pets are now starting to become part of peoples' weddings so you can offer either to baby sit the pet, get it ready for its debut (if it's part of the ceremony in some way) and then take it home (or offer continuing dog boarding with you). As with everything in the wedding industry, it's lucrative. I will say those who can handle a variety of dog breeds and temperaments (aka dog trainers) will benefit more or you can basically stick to certain breeds. "Pet Taxi" - you ARE going to have to be open to taxi-ing people AND their pets. Most of the ride share apps won't allow pets to ride with people so offering a Pet Taxi service where you can allow the pet owner to ride with you (and their pet) can earn you more money than Uber, etc. Also, there are times when people need you to taxi ONLY the pet from point A to point B so it can be easy in that way too.
Repairing things can also prove valuable and certainly necessary. It depends what it is. After 3 children, 2 degrees and a lockdown I found my passion for repairing, upgradinģ and upcycling clothes and sell them. I have new fabrics but what makes me the happiest is making use of what we have already, so a nice jersey stretch top that is too small I can cut up and use the fabric for cuffs for instance. I did buy the best sewing machines out there. I find it very creative and therapeutic.
Hello, I just wanna say thank you Nicole, your channel appeared to me at a perfect timing of my life. I love your authenticity and the fact that you are happy living with yourself. You inspire me even more towards my goals of getting financial freedom as a single mom of 3. And to be perfectly happy with solitude.
Power washing is one of my favorites on this list. I've gotten quotes for $350+ to have my house washed, so I just do it myself! Great video...there's a lot of money to be made out there! 🤑
lmao “we have a lot in common she hates people.” I relate to this. This is going to sound crazy but you would be a good drug dealer as far as flipping stuff
Recently discovered your channel. Can't believe you are so wise at your age. This video made me feel so good because I did many of what you recommend jobs when I was a financially struggling university student, house sitting, dog walking. Teaching piano. Painting rooms for someone, cutting hairs for guys ( just buzz shaving) etc. It felt like getting an A in life. I only started to flip furnitures when I turned 30 I wish I could started it earlier. It was such an easy job to do and great for the environment. Sharing your video to all the 11 niece and nephews my bf have who are complaining about their minimum job.
“Bitch in a bag” lmaooooo I just busted out laughing so loud god I adore you haha! 😅 Ok this video is super helpful and inspiring - thank you again always look forward to your videos and info you share with us! One of my fav RUclipsrs! Love your sense of humor too - HUG ! ♥️
I was wondering if you'd mention dog poop scooping. For those who are laughing at her mentioning it, I had a professional pet care business from 2007 - 2020. At its height when I had multiple people working for me (before I burned out and had to restructure for my health/sanity), I had legitimately 3 regular "poop scooping" clients for that business. We'd rock up, scoop the poop (which we were doing ANYWAY because hello pet care business so it isn't like we are poop adverse) and leave. Paid.
I paid the neighbors kid to feed/water and clean the cat box for 2 weeks every year while we vacationed. I paid half the going boarders rate. Good, easy money for a 14 year old. No playing but pets if they wanted. One cat might want pets, but never did. No taxes for her and no cat boarding illnesses when we got home. The oldest cat hated boarding and always came back sick which meant an expensive vet $$$, visit plus boarders want a vet certificate of vaccinations and health which cost $$ The going rate is $27 a day x 14 days= $380.
@@johndoe-wv3nu I liked it also because I felt it gave her a great way to earn and save money, she did a great job and had the job for 5 (13-18)years then her sister did it.
Anyone that pays 1-2 hundred dollars an hour for someone to go through their shit is either significantly lazier than me which I thought was impossible, or is rich af
This is a very comprehensive video and it seems to be very accurate for the American reality. Some of these ideas might even work here in The Netherlands (but not many, the Dutch are a bit frugal). Very inspiring. Thanks!
I suspect the hatred of work is not a generational thing, just that some younger people are more likely to speak the truth on this. My mother is a boomer and like me she feels no shame in confessing that she really hates work.
I'm glad I stumbled across your channel today! I don't make enough money and I live in a 1 bedroom that holds to much clutter as I used to live in a two bedroom house and live in a maze now!🤣😭😵I can't wait to find new ideas through your channel! Thanks and Happy New Year!
New sub here! I enjoyed listening to you. During the pandemic, many people tried planting. Since plants grow fast, especially succulents, they are able to sell those. Some even turned them into souvenir items.
Hey guys Becareful with the trying to learn how to dog groom by yourself. Most people who do try and groom their own dog themselves, and have cut their dog and had to bring them to the hospital.
Thanks so much Nicole. If anyone still has excuses after this video honestly they can’t complain they don’t have money. None of these are super glamorous but at the end of the day when you have money no one cares how you made it ❤
Bike mechanic. Biking is my hobby you can easily do tuneup tire changes, chain, modifications, and stuff like that in cleanings for a little side hustle but that’s what I do if I retire and just wanna stay active and something on passionate about
if you own a truck and a drivers license, you can do anything you want to make money!!!!!!!!!!! I HAVE A 3/4 TON 4WD TRUCK MYSELF AND THAT THING CAN DO EVERYTHING I NEED TO DO!!!!!!!! JESUS IS LORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great job I just started listening to you an hour ago. I’ve already learned so much I’m a lot like you maybe that’s why everything seems so real this side hustle thing sounds like I should be looking into it being recently retired and handy have tons of tools shop maybe I should look into that thanks so much.❤
Interior painting is the easiest part of construction to get into. The capital outlay for equipment is minimal and it will fit in any passenger car. Here's the thing. EVERYBODY thinks they can paint, almost no one can. I've done complete remodels for years. I've probably hired 100 people, mostly women. Three were good painters. The rest couldn't cut a straight line, got paint everywhere or made a runny patchy mess. You aren't going to grow a painting business by making messes in people's homes. You should also know that it is possible to do the painting right and still make a mess that will cost thousands to fix.
Private tutoring in Switzerland is 20USD. Hairdressers make much more money than private tutoring. It's an illusion that you can make so much money privately. Even if you work for big corporations here, you still don't make 50 USD for your time
Nicole, you may already have a video on this, and if you do, will you direct me to it please. I’d like you to talk about how you do your taxes when you’re bringing in this extra money.TIA.
In the United States you have to have a cosmetology license to perform waxing services, facials, eyelash extensions , haircutting and thank goodness hair coloring !!! Some of these services may seem easy to perform but in the wrong hands serious injuries can occur...
Wow! Out here in the sticks I never made more than $20/hr. The Amish do most of the carpentry and painting. People don’t have the means to pay much for jobs to be done. Been trying to find work but jobs are few.
My one concern about the teaching idea is this: there's a HUGE difference between being good AT something and being good at TEACHING it. If you want to give private lessons on any subject you're good at, I suggest taking a few lessons first about teaching people of the age level you're planning to instruct. I can tell you first hand that teaching professional adults a new work-related skill is different from teaching a kid how to play an instrument. So if anyone out there is serious about training others, learn something about different learning styles, if there happen to be proven methods for teaching your particular subject, and so forth.
I worked as a YT moderator and ran an influencers Patreon a couple years ago. Was grateful because he paid me decent and weekly so that was on top of my ft job. Extra money for skills I already had. 🎉

I was quoted over $300 to unclog a kitchen sink drain. Bought a pressure washer at Home Depot + pipe cleaning attachment for less than 300. Now I have a paid for washer and attachments. haha!
Well, yes, but a licensed plumber is a thing. Before you react, if DIY works, it's great, but if that pressure blows the next weakest link in the system, you will have a filthy flood and be calling a plumber anyway. P.S. The last plumber I actually called was a super hot young guy. Luckily I maintained composure when I opened the door.

On the part of photography, majority of the Makerspaces have photgraphy classes. One spot I went to had a professional photographer teach people how to take better pictures with your I-phone, She does it once a month, & when it is offered, It sells out really quick. 1 hour class 15 people max, $50 per person, if your a member it's $25.
I like that arbitrage idea, and I'm doing it too. But our local second-hand market is very efficient. Everyone buying knows exactly how much something costs ;)
The photographer one continues to pop up on different lists of lucrative side hustles. Now time to go dig through tens of thousands of photos and get stuff copyrighted.
The gig economy has screwed many of us, at least in America. We have to forgo healthcare, social security benefits, a living wage... and basic labor protections that have been circumvented by greedy corporations who outsource American jobs to American gig-workers. It works well for some, but for every person who makes a good living, there are probably 10 struggling just to pay the rent. I know some Doordash drivers that literally live in vans in McDonald's parking lots. But as they say, "your mileage may vary". Don't get me wrong, I enjoy your channel. I find it very helpful in navigating the new reality of trying to survive post-employment. Just understand that though you rail against corporate culture, "the gig economy" is the ultimate corporate wet dream. ☮💙
I believe in most, if not all, states you have to have a license to do any cosmetology services. You also have to get the proper permits, etc to do it out of your home. Be careful with that one y’all!
I think it's not really a trick. It's that they didn't see it first. If there is no supply and they still want it, they will pay the market rate. I think you're also not getting that in many cases the original seller undervalued it, not she overpriced it. On the other hand thrift clothes, there's just a massive quantity and everyone can't go to every store, so they can be super cheap, leaving some room to increase the price. People shop online for convenience. That's all there is too it.
I think it’s a matter of finding things that are desirable at a low/good price. Just a matter of luck sometimes. And, some people just want to get rid of things so sell them low.
I recently discovered your channel and this particular video I personally find the most helpful. There are a few ideas you have mentioned that I will definitely look into. Thank you Nicole.
I think being a personal courier and/or assembling furniture sound like really good side hustles. I have known a few painters and a dog groomer and I think those were both jobs that had started as side hustles.
A lot of these seem to be more common in America. In Europe, house sitting or pet sitting at someone's house etc is like an invite for people to steal things. Nobody trusts each other. I'd even love for someone to call down to check on my pet while I'm gone, but there's no way I'm gonna be leaving keys to my place with a stranger.
I find this is more of a Central/Eastern Europe problem. I'm from Hungary now living in the UK. Here, I used cat sitter services and I let my letting agent arrange for repairs and they send the engineers/tradesman into my home while I'm at work. I enjoy this freedom and trust! Would I do this at home? Not in a million years, I'd be worried sick if I still have anything left in my flat.
@@evabognar9167 I'm from Ireland so only across the water from you. Sending engineers, electricians etc to fix things either through agency or landlord is a common thing, yes. Although they always ask first if someone will be home or if they have a permission to enter the property in your absence. With regards to pet sitters, I haven't come across any such thing. Dog walkers yes. Minding a pet at someone's house, no. And I would love one when I had a bunny as travelling with her every time was rather stressful for both of us. Unless there is something here and I'm not aware of it.
@@Devilishka7 same here, they always ask me if I'll be able to be at home or if I'm ok with them giving a key. I used to have a catsitter who came to my flat once or twice to take care of my cat. She was adopted and I didn't want to take her to a cattery because I didn't want her to think I'm abandoning her. One visit included feeding, water, litter tray clean and playtime. When she was sick, medication also. It seems to me it's quite common here (some charge more, some less). The guy who used to come to me also had a service "stocking up your fridge before you get home" for a fiver plus whatever you out on your shopping list. Some take care of cats and smaller animals like guinea-pig, hamster, etc. May be worth checking in your area (I literally googled catsitter back then) and you may find some! Or you can start a small one if you like.
I'm sorry, dog grooming isn't something you can just learn online. it can be very dangerous work for both you and the dog if you don't know what your doing, and chances are, you don't. There are many ways you can accidentally hurt the dog and you need to study from a professional about so many things before starting to work on iy yourself. it's a lot more complicated than people think, and I don't want to see more dogs out there being shaved too short to the point it's a health risk and with holes in their fur. And yes, I am a professional dog groomer and I see these things constantly so I do not encourage people to just do this. If you want to be a dog groomer you need to love animals and be an artist, find a master and pay them to teach you everything. Don't go online, to study it. And never shave dogs on a 10.
I feel like that's the same with teaching people classes, cooking or instrument etc. If you're not a professional, you could really teach some pretty bad techniques that are unhealthy, unsanitary, or even hurt tendons in your hands long-term if taught uncorrectly. I guess it's up to the client to do their background check, but people need to not profess to be something they're not, simply for a couple bucks. That's more of a scam than anything. Edit: Even seemingly harmless things like painting someone's house. Do you know proper painting techniques that will hold up? The proper paint to seal the type of wood, etc? Probably not if you're just in it for a few bucks.
@@randomrandom3402 Now it's a different story if, say, you have an art degree but you went into business instead... And realized you wanted to teach some art classes on the side. Or if your father was a carpenter and you could work with him doing jobs. Stuff like that is totally on the up and up! And if not, you could always do things that don't require long term educational commitments. Like mowing lawns, going grocery shopping for people, or walking dogs, things of that nature. Daily things that some people just can't do and would pay you to do so they don't have to. You can definitely make money doing those things!!
@@akaCONSTANTINE ya, but I'm talking about things that can potentially hurt someone and it's difficult to learn properly, many people get into the business not knowing anything and end up hurting a lot of individuals without realizing it due to being poorly educated. It's a huge issue in my industry and I don't want it to be encouraged! People don't know enough about the dog's ecosystem to then change it drastically in a most likely harmful way

We were earning around $30 plus a week at 10 or 12 years old. More than pocket money
I love this story. My big brothers had a landscaping empire growing up. They had cars, money, girls :) ah the 80's!
Do you have notes you refer to off screen? You speak so articulately and fast. (Yea, I'm southern so we speak a bit slower, lol)
Yes, did she say "calm your tits"? That's not a good look, and is the only thing I didn't like from this channel. And I'm NOT from the South, but I still thought it went by too fast to be sure.

This list was for once, very useful! I could do a number of those things, thanks for the ideas!
I build computers when i find cheap parts. Most people dont want to go all over the place and put it all together and are happy to just pay for the whole computer. Nothing fancy, just a basic computer to do school reports and internet research on
Some other pet industry hustles that do not require skills or experience:
"Pet wedding attendant".
😂😂😂 I prefer to sell things that won't land me in jail. I wouldn't survive.
My kids (17 and 19) both tutor students at their high school. It gives them a bit of pocket cash.
Like 50/hr money?
I would happily pay $30/day to feed my 2 cats and 1 dog. One cat get meds (rubbed on her ears), so probably a bit more. Send that kid over!

Thanks!
I'm a "boomer" and I don't want to work, because it sucks.
I suspect the hatred of work is not a generational thing, just that some younger people are more likely to speak the truth on this. My mother is a boomer and like me she feels no shame in confessing that she really hates work.
In the States, you must have a license to practice any form of cosmetology. It's the law.
😂😂😂😂
Unlicensed people make money doing hair all the time. Kitchen hairdressers they call them.
I'm glad I stumbled across your channel today! I don't make enough money and I live in a 1 bedroom that holds to much clutter as I used to live in a two bedroom house and live in a maze now!🤣😭😵I can't wait to find new ideas through your channel! Thanks and Happy New Year!

Oh my goodness! You’re a musician-I tell my students in high school to teach lessons. These are all great ideas!
None of these are super glamorous but at the end of the day when you have money no one cares how you made it ❤
So how about this im studying medicine, should I find a hustle or focus on studies and think about my future?
Perhaps you can do both. You know yourself best. If you can manage it, do it!
Bike mechanic. Biking is my hobby you can easily do tuneup tire changes, chain, modifications, and stuff like that in cleanings for a little side hustle but that’s what I do if I retire and just wanna stay active and something on passionate about

Great tips! Thank you for sharing. Speaking up, following leads & acting on them (some out of my comfort zone) has double my income this year.

These are all realistic, actionable ideas. The only addition I would make is to make certain you have the proper liability insurance.
I like that arbitrage idea, and I'm doing it too. But our local second-hand market is very efficient. Everyone buying knows exactly how much something costs ;)
"calm your tits". Thats great
The photographer one continues to pop up on different lists of lucrative side hustles. Now time to go dig through tens of thousands of photos and get stuff copyrighted.
Gigolo or lady of the night can make decent money as well... also one of the oldest "side hustles".
What about selling artwork?
This!
Great ideas! Pooper scooping is a great idea, that definitely isn't something most people would think of as a side Hussle.
It's a great opoortunity. .....I'll see myself out.
Nicole--mustache waxing, I don't think I need that, thank gawd...Funny. It amazes me how fast you can talk while still making sense.
Me too!! Her mind works very fast!!
Brilliant, thankyou for these ideas.❤
How would you trick someone on buying your flipped product? 😂 we all know how much something costs
You buy it cheap, duh
I think it's not really a trick. It's that they didn't see it first. If there is no supply and they still want it, they will pay the market rate. I think you're also not getting that in many cases the original seller undervalued it, not she overpriced it. On the other hand thrift clothes, there's just a massive quantity and everyone can't go to every store, so they can be super cheap, leaving some room to increase the price. People shop online for convenience. That's all there is too it.
But note that if it's a flipped house, you'd better get the electrical system inspected. That can be hiding dangerous problems.
I think it’s a matter of finding things that are desirable at a low/good price. Just a matter of luck sometimes. And, some people just want to get rid of things so sell them low.
I love your authenticity. 😊
I recently discovered your channel and this particular video I personally find the most helpful. There are a few ideas you have mentioned that I will definitely look into. Thank you Nicole.
Oh yes and May I add, video editing sounds good!
Consider crime. Work your own hours & meet new people.
I think being a personal courier and/or assembling furniture sound like really good side hustles. I have known a few painters and a dog groomer and I think those were both jobs that had started as side hustles.
After School Childcare can be a good source of income.

All are great ideas, but the hardest part is to get the customer
Emily is beautiful. Be nice to her.
Great Ideas. I've done some of these before but gave me new ideas too. Great stuff!
I gotta say, you wasted your money on eyebrow waxing.
@@akaCONSTANTINE I fully agree! Having good morals is more important than making money!
People don't know enough about the dog's ecosystem to then change it drastically in a most likely harmful way
I would love to learn to be a dog groomer where do you think I should start.?
Extremely good video Nicole!
