Especially in Bax's case where there are so few Pokemon that die to +2 but live +1 that it's genuinely worth using over Swords Dance. See also: Crawdaunt.

The saddest part, is that garchomp was already starting to fall off before teal mask, the nail in the coffin was gliscor, which basically outclassed a majority of the bulk grounds and took chomps hazard stacking ability away as gliscor got both spikes and toxic spikes, and had a way better defensive type compared to chomp. This also bumped down notable ou staples like gargancal, clodsire and even heatran. Heatran was also used less due to the dominance of both manaphy and wellspring mask ogerpon in ou, both also basically screwing with a lot of Pokémon in ou.
Im so glad I played just enough competitve to understand all these memes more than a decade after Ive stopped playing GARCHOMP and mfing HEATRAN???? End times.
