For those who don’t watch the Journey’s anime this was a filler episode where Team Rocket needed to recruit people to Team Rocket and so decided a radio show/podcast was the way they did episode 1 and found 0 viewers, and so tried and revamped the entire thing forgetting their original goal and making a relatively popular podcast The episode is surprisingly good for a Pokémon filler episode if you plan on watching Journey without fillers give this episode a chance instead of skipping it
You know I don't like how everyone is so dismissive of Wobbafett on this stream. He expertly dismantled Meowth's entire argument before it even got started with one succinct statement, and everyone just ignored him. Maybe it's better that this show get cancelled.
I mean honestly wobbafett was the only one on the podcast speaking reason for the 52 episode runtime, I think he should just go off and make his own podcast honestly
That's canon. There used to be scenes where Team Rocket is talking about their stupid plan, Wobbuffet goes "Wobbuffet!", and Meowth goes "who asked you?". He's the group's voice of reason. They just never listen to him.

@@christmasgrinch4017 No, when I was 13 I heard that there were "illegal" pokemon episodes and said to myself "well now I need to watch them". I found them on some bootleg streaming site and that is the story of how I discovered anime streaming as a child.
he's got a point, one of the grunts said that they wouldve had a nice house in hoenn if there were more land, because house prices are probably extremely high there, and the rest of the world too. team magma didnt want to get rid of ALL the water, just about 20% of it (making it a 50/50 ratio) so that humans could develop further into the future, however it was a horrible miscalculation in the end (if i got any of this wrong, i played pokemon alpha sapphire)
Team Magma and Team Aqua's plans only have a proper motive in ORAS. In the original games they're only trying to expand the land/sea just for the sake of the games having an evil plot related to the box legendaries to thwart. I will say Maxie wanting to make more land so Hoenn could have more livable space has better intentions than Archie wanting to flood Hoenn to "reset the world". ORAS is notably the first time the absurd house/population ratio usually found in Pokémon games is ever lampshaded as a main plot point. Awakening Primal Groudon and not being able to control it still would have horribly disrupted the nature, wildlife, and human population of the region, if not destroy it all outright.
the best thing ever is that in Sun and Moon if you take a picture of a Pokémon with too much water in the background one of the replies you might get actually is "7.8/10 too much water." the fact that GameFreak (or at least the localizers) know and embrace the meme just makes my day
Sun and Moon came out in 2016, and this was made in 2022, so it's the opposite way around (Especially since James talks about Chairman Rose, the main antagonist in Sword and Shield which released 3 years after Sun and Moon)
bruh i'm talking about my actual experience playing the 2016 game. there is a line of text in the game that says "7.8/10 too much water" which can appear in the photography minigame. i know when the games came out. to spell it out for you, i am just commenting on the popularity of the 7.8/10 meme, which originated with oras (2014).
I like how the punchline of this is “meowth agrees with magma only becahse he’s a cat.” Also wow, this really is still in character even if it would never happen in the show. Idk how you do it but this was funny.
@@slippinjenny7410 No, it doesn't. You get the ability to fly early on and if you're annoyed by Tentacools battling you, use a Repel. It's literally half land, half water, and the water routes are all relatively short and self contained.
I don’t think a lot of people would have noticed but, “Wobbufett”’s Japanese name means “that’s the way it is” and since the anime is produced in Japan and Wobbufett was a joke character used for this purpose, and him saying that after James said “and killed a lot of people too” implies he is on Meowth’s side. Also that concerned cry of Wobbufett at the end is probably him siding with Meowth and telling Jessie and James not to “silence” him.

@@BreadLoeuf Maybe they could have called him something like " _itswatis_ " after "" _it_ i _s_ _w_ h _at_ _it_ i _s_ "? It's not a very catchy name but it carries over the pun.

James doesn't sound exactly like he did in Journeys unless they changed VAs after season 23. He sounds like an old Englishman who is mildly bemused all of the time in Journeys, this sounds closer to his voice early on in the anime, and is more tolerable as such.

I mean, just the fact you need diving gear to actually access Sootopolis City, a place important enough to have a Gym, *should* be a red flag; what if someone doesn't have that gear and/or drowns trying to access the city? What then? Also, Hannah did a pretty solid job with Jesse, ngl.
@@jaguarnick4643 Yes, but that'd require having been to Sootopolis City *beforehand,* which can only be done by diving underwater. Do you see the problem, here? EDIT: Also, what if you just started your adventure in Sootopolis City? You'd have nowhere else to fly to, and the ability to dive underwater out of the city is only possible if you beat Mossdeep City's Gym, which you can't fly to yet.
Honestly, Maxie DID have good intentions, at least to start with. Hoenn is mostly water, yes, but Hoenn is also going through a mild housing crisis and overpopulation issue. Raising the land and or removing a chunk of the ocean’s mass would mean more land to expand on for both humans and non-aquatic Pokémon to live on. Meanwhile Archie just wanted to wrestle a fish
@@itsturniptime3699 Well considering they build cities on the waters too thanks to wood, I'd say It can be helped, or you can add more towers for People and multi-family housing options, at least that would help without necessarily disturbing natural underwater fauna
A month later I shall interject, raising the land would make certain higher parts of the Hoenn region inhospitable due to crop drought, it is entirely possible that a lower water level or higher land level could reduce total habitable space in the region rather than increasing it assuming the reduced amount of water did not also affect climate conditions.
I’ll gladly tune in to this podcast everyday, Jessie, James and Meowth’s voices sound so accurate it sounds like you got the real voice actors to do this
If wasn’t until I was about half way through this video that I remembered this is a parody and not an actual Pokémon anime skit. The voice acting is really good and this kinda sounds like the sort of inane discussion TR would have in the show. Might actually be better than a lot of your Sonic videos
You know, everyone gives team aqua and magma loads of crap for having the worst plans in the franchise, but Idk if they were even trying to be that insane with it, when either of them learns their legendary is gonna go overboard with the whole thing and flood/dry the earth completely, they are pretty surprised. Maybe archie just wanted to change the coasts just enough to wet drought-prone areas, and Maxie just wanted to expand the coasts by just a bit or surface a landbridge between Hoenn's islands. The only problem is that neither of them were geologists or meteorologists. So effectively they're just like redditors arguing over the world's problems except they have legitimate followers and power.
Oh nonono. Most people I talk to see Lysandre and Team Flare as the worst. "We're going to reset the world!" "Okay, why?" "It's so ugly and cruel!" "And what will you do when you create this new world?" "Only Team Flare can belong!" "So criminals. Got it. F-- is your grade."

The Pokemon anime swears in Japanese, also this would def not be a English episode. Japan is extremely lax with topics, cussing, and stuff like that for a kids show. I completely believed this, but then I watched the cuts and notice the amount of reused scenes and knew it was not real.

What makes this even better is the "too much water" thing was actually about water types, not water routes. Meowth is just dogwhistling that he wants to wipe out all the water types, truly dispicable
This was so well done and pretty close to the voices from Journeys to a point I actually thought some how this was a real clip up until Meowth said "prime-ape shit"
Meowth: Maxie's got a point, Hoenn has too much water! Venice, Jakarta, Kiribati, Tuvalu, and Maldives all facing rising sea levels: He's right, y'know The Netherlands, historically at war with the sea: *Tell me about it...* Love how Archie isn't on the list, as he should. No matter what Meowth says, Maxie still looks like a virgin. And Archie is a Chad. Ocean Man should be able to expand and rule as he wishes
I mean, Maxie and Archie were by far the least "genocidal" evil team bosses (other than obviously Guzma and Piers.) They just wanted what was best for humanity or Pokemon.
All they needed to do is consider the butterfly effects of their actions and they'd be just fine. They just had to go too far, though. Maxie went and tried to dry everything up, leading to global water shortages if a certain 10 year old didn't intervene. Had he just decided on trying to get the okay on some simple terraforming projects, not much would be hurt. Still plenty of water for the ecosystem to thrive. As for Archie, he also went too far and tried to flood out Hoenn, with the storm likely reaching other parts of the world and causing even more floods had another certain 10 year old not intervened. Hoenn already has excess water as is, so the ecosystem is already thriving. If you're that desperate to add water to a region full of it, get permission to do some terraforming projects to add rivers.
@@Darth_Bateman Their plan didn’t involve the murder of anyone. What the plan would have done would have killed the entire region. Also if I remember correctly a guy tried to erase everyone and replace it with world where he is God. So I would say those are probably the ends of the spectrum
In fairness, he's also conpletely incompetent in terms of a fight. Hell, he openly says he put so much energy into learning to talk that be basically doesn't know the first thing about actually battling. And most people would be looking for a super strong pokemon, not one that can talk. Not to mention most other pokemon are at least nearing human intelligence, they just can't speak.
@@redraven123I'm sorry, but with all do respect, what are you talking about? There is literally zero reason other than the comedy of it that Meowth isn't world famous as the bridge between Pokemon and Humans. But also that every trainer in the world doesn't want him. He's literally the equivalent of a talking cat in real life. And yeah I know psychics exist. But the ones that can talk to people via telepathy are basically as rare as bigfoot in their world. Ash and co likely just run into them all the time because plot. And even with the existence of psychics Meowth would still stand out as one of a kind. Opening the bridge of Pokemon science with regards to teaching them to speak since he's proven it can be done. Yet every Pokemon scientist they've met could care less.
"Kyogre's creation of the oceans around Hoenn and it's consequences have been a disaster for Pokemon. Imagine a route that subjects you to getting wet, then harasses you with Tentacool to distract from your unhappiness." - Meowth
Ya know, in hindsight, Hoenn still had more land than water. That right side of the map was just too wide open and it was easy to get lost. Hella wingull. Hella tentacool. But it's still pretty great. Great surf theme too, when you're not fighting the supersonic spammers
They tried with the Dive mechanic, but even so the water routes just weren't varied enough because of land-bias. Think of how most ocean Pokémon are Water-types but not most land Pokémon are Ground-types. Also there's one Surf music but not all land routes share the same theme. This works under normal circumstances, but not for a half-and-half kind of region.
I’m at least glad they didn’t lump in N with those bad guys since he wanted to separate humans and Pokemon which ironically would cause the Pokemon to start a rebellion since many like their trainers (With exceptions)
@@ShudowWolf Since the Pokedex is beign written by the Trainers and that in the Game Universe only the Protagonists have one, i wonder how they discovered that

he's got a point, one of the grunts said that they wouldve had a nice house in hoenn if there were more land, because house prices are probably extremely high there, and the rest of the world too. team magma didnt want to get rid of ALL the water, just about 20% of it (making it a 50/50 ratio) so that humans could develop further into the future, however it was a horrible miscalculation in the end (if i got any of this wrong, i played pokemon alpha sapphire)
Depending on the game they fight, Team magma hates water in Ruby, but the pirates got a brain and on sapphire the roles swap

"Isso" is slang in German and comes from the saying "Es ist so!" /"Ist so!" which translated means "That's how it is!"/"It is like that!".

Actually Hoenn is equal parts land and water. Half the routes are on land and the other half are on water.
@@quantasium Still, not very good percentages all things considered
@@itsturniptime3699 Well considering they build cities on the waters too thanks to wood, I'd say It can be helped, or you can add more towers for People and multi-family housing options, at least that would help without necessarily disturbing natural underwater fauna
A month later I shall interject, raising the land would make certain higher parts of the Hoenn region inhospitable due to crop drought, it is entirely possible that a lower water level or higher land level could reduce total habitable space in the region rather than increasing it assuming the reduced amount of water did not also affect climate conditions.

All they needed to do is consider the butterfly effects of their actions and they'd be just fine. They just had to go too far, though.
@@darksideofevil13well oak and Gary were pretty interested in him but then must have thought another one of team rockets experiments
ok but meowth was there friend
"and we can't feed Morpeko, so make it double" I love those smaller jokes so much, this is a masterpiece
"Kyogre's creation of the oceans around Hoenn and it's consequences have been a disaster for Pokemon. Imagine a route that subjects you to getting wet, then harasses you with Tentacool to distract from your unhappiness." - Meowth
Meowth is giving off raw "Thanos did nothing wrong" energy and I love it.
Reminds me of how Salamence (apparently just Mega Salamence) is known for sometimes just outright murdering its trainer.
@@ShudowWolf Salamence truly is the chimp of the Pokemon world.
Yeah, N was more of a brainwashing victim than a villain.
@@ShudowWolf Since the Pokedex is beign written by the Trainers and that in the Game Universe only the Protagonists have one, i wonder how they discovered that
i thought N's only reasoning was that he wanted to separate badly treated Pokémon from their abusive trainers, since he could hear their emotions. it was getsis who wanted ALL trainers so that he could be the only one.
AI voices could not, the impressions are brilliant
The beginning seems so real I couldn’t tell that it was fake! If this was a real podcast from team rockets point of view just talking I would totally watch it
Same
Same!! I was surprised by the VA but figured it had been over a decade since I'd watched the show so maybe they'd changed actors 😭
this actually was a real episode and it was focused on TR trying to recruit members by doing a podcast.
The beginning clued me on to it being fake dialog, actually. The anime _never_ touches on those weird move/Pokémon combos like Ice Punch Wooper, Iron Tail Primeape, and Mega Kick Dusknoir.
I would totally listen to they're podcast if it was an actual thing.
"It would have ruined the scenery!"
"And kill a lot of people..."
How. The. Fuck. can you be this funny while still being 100% in character?!
Watch your mouth Andrew Taylor
Good acting, I have done a whole song in a toad voice with few and between fuck ups
Language, Andrew!
Andrew Taylor, watch your mouth your man!
By being incredibly skilled at writing. That's how.
This is so well done I didn’t even realize it was fanmade until the end part
Okay so I'll be honest......I would subscribe to this channel if this became a recurring thing.
Something about listening to team rocket making a podcast shooting the breeze seems way too entertaining. I legit would want to see another video like this.
I'm not sure if anyone else agrees but it would be fun to see more of this
This would instantly become my favourite podcast if it actually existed
It was so boring though. If he made it funny then I'd give it a listen.
@@SplitGoose they should make a podcast with you since you’re such a clown
There was an actual Team Rocket radio show in Japan like this
I legit thought this was part of the actual show until meowth swore lmao
SAMME
Me too
SAME
James and meowth’s voices are too on point. Meowths here is a little higher pitched but i can’t hear the difference in james
@@w1nther930 Jessie sounds nice too
Ok but Maxie’s different ( same as Archie) in that the thing he would of caused if not stopped by the player wasn’t their intention. Both hoeen “evil teams leaders” when they awakened their respective legendaries actively try to stop them when they realize just how badly they screwed up. Meanwhile ghestis straight up tries to kill a kid. Pretty significant difference
I honestly hope that these characters return one day in the anime as side characters
Yeah I agree
