  • On 17th February 2019 the Eden Valley Railway's 4-CEP 2315 and MLVs 9003 and 9005 made two trips to Southfields and back on battery power. This was the first stage of testing whether the battery operated train will be capable of operating a full hourly service during the running season.
    The first part of the film is the train arriving at Warcop at the end of the first run. The footage from the second run shows, in order;
    the departure from Warcop
    slowing for the speed restriction in Wild Boar Cutting
    passing over the Sandford Road bridge
    arriving at the current limit of operatin, Southfields
    passing over Sandford Road bridge on the return trip with the A66 in the background
    heading out of Wild Boar Cutting
    arriving at Warcop Station
    Work on bodywork of the MLVs is continuing and both the interior and exterior of the 4-CEP are going to get a thorough cleaning in the near future.
