  • On 17th May 2014 the Branch Line Society visited the Eden Valley Railway at Warcop.
The first trip of the day was from Warcop to Southfields (current limit of passenger train operation) using the Thumper 205009. This is currently undergoing refurbishment which is why the front of the unit is in a weird mixture of undercoat and yellow.
Second trip was from Warcop to the eastern end of the line at Flitholme using MLVs 9003 and 9005 on battery power with 4-CEP 2315 as the passenger accommodation. This section of track is not normally used for passenger trains. The first photo of the 4-CEP shows it on a 90 ft siding laid in 2013: this was the first train to use it.
Due to the formation at Flitholme it was not possible to video the final few inches of the trip: the photo shows how close to the buffer stop the 4-CEP got.
On the return journey a non-stop run was made through Warcop Station (unfortunately the videographer didn't make it onto the platform in time) before returning to the platform
