Gary Trent JR openly admitted he was depressed in Portland. He often looked like he was going to be good, so it's no surpirse that with a change of scenary he would excel. As for Maxey I feel like if you watched him at Kentucky or even in the limited minutes he received his rookie year you'd know he was going to be good aswell. Great vid Andy, you inspire me to stay on my grind.
You love to see it. It's a team of guys that were being told to play in playstyles that didn't suit them, now we're seeing them at their best cause they play to their strengths.
Agreed. In Chicago he was a joke. Played no defense. Rarely took his game into the paint, and tried to shoot way too many threes. In Utah, he’s shooting better than ever, taking his game into the paint a lot, and even playing defense for a change. Hoiberg, Boylen, and Donovan made a huge mistake trying to make a beefy 6’11 into a pure shooter with no focus on any other usage of his talents. Now look at what Will Hardy is doing with him. FINALLY clearly developing him in a much better way. Guy is a solid candidate for MIP now.
It's a bit of a surprise, but Lauri was averaging 18 & 9 in his second season. Then for whatever reason, the coach Jim Boylen decided his 7 footer with a post game and willingness to grab rebounds should stay on the perimeter. The last 3 seasons he hasn't been allowed to play his game and suited up at the 3 in Cleveland.
Absolutely the most wide open league in years and many players are having truly out of the blue seasons statistically , looking forward to the spring and having a great playoff year of the league
Dejounte Murray has been so fun to watch this year in Atlanta with him and Trae leading the way. Multiple games of 20 and 10+ Assists from those guys has put Atlanta at the forefront of the East. If I was other eastern conference teams, I’d watch out for Atlanta.
A lot of us in Philly already knew Tyrese had this type of potential inside of them. The problem was is playing with joelle, tobias, james, and other guys he wasn't able to get as many shots. With James and Joel being out he finally has a chance to shine. A lot of people are saying we got the still of the draft that year Andy, some videos suggestions should be how the NBA almost went bankrupt in the '70s, Kobe's first season after Shaquille trade, players who overachieved during their careers
We knew he had this level of potential as a slasher and finisher, but not only is he statistically the second best fast break scorer behind Giannas, but he is one of the best shooters in the league. He was 43% on 4 attempts last seasons, is currently sitting at 44% on 8 attempts, after shooting 30% his rookie season
After the draft I watched some videos of Maxey. It only took me a few minutes and I was convinced that he was a great pick. He has a positive attitude and the work ethic to become better. In his rookie season Maxey had some great performances. He really showed up when he was asked to. There was that game where most starters were out due to covid. Maxey carried the team in that game. While most fans saw it as a pleasant great performance of a young player, Maxey proved to himself, the coaches and team mates that he is ready. So when the Ben saga took off I knew Maxey was ready to accept the challenge as he just waited to show the world what he is capable to do.
@@AuraDivinity but history doesn’t care ab that. when his story is said and done, he was an all-star in 2022. by your logic, the cavs don’t have an all-star center when that’s factually incorrect

Tyrese Maxey for sure is having one of his best statistical seasons in the league , averaging 24 PPG , i mean he’s definitely taking that next step offensively
Can i add to that list? Lauri markannen also make a huge jump to his game. From a third or fourth option in cleveland he hop on center stage to become the primary option on utah. Also stat wise from 14ppg to nearly 22 and 10 now and also the main reason on utah success.
lauri was expected to blossom into a star after his rookie year in chicago but didn't happen. he always has the star potential in him, just need to find the right fit and team which happened to be the jazz.
Why you gotta do Dillon brooks dirty like that lol dude has been solid since he got in the league and is shooting 50 percent on nearly 6 3’s a game right now lol
He's not showing anything different than what he showed in San Antonio though. Dude was a defensive threat and super athletic there too. He could get real hot from range, but he never showed that he could consistently do it. Remains to be seen if he can pick up his shooting and keep it as hot as it has been last couple of games.
Hot take but I’ll take Gary Trent over Jordan Poole. To me Trent has had a bigger impact on Toronto with scottie,Fred,Spicy p. Jordan is doing great alongside the splash bros but his game reminds me of jr smith. He’ll be on fire one night, next night he shoot his self out the game. Other players like maxey,Murray, and etc needed to prove themselves a little more behind the scenes. Murray was a beast defensively but his offense was mostly of slashing, mid ranges, and fast break buckets. Maxey to me was always a bucket it was just Ben Simmons and Seth curry blocking his shine . Overall everybody is panning out and the next gen of stars are here
The Powell-Trent trade worked out so well for the Raptors. Trent was able to develop as a great star for the raptors. For Powell well he would only spend a season and half with the team before being traded to the Clippers because the trail blazers wanted to rebuild. the trailblazers paid him and traded him in mid season to the clippers and Robert Covington also became a good asset for the clippers.
Maxey ain’t outta no where (KNICKS FAN***) he been good, he’s my favorite player to watch and was last year. He’s been on the rise and this is totally expected, maybe not this year I was but I knew he’d be this good.
Tyrese Maxey is what NBA teams should be looking for, a guy with B+ talent but all heart and killer winning mindset, instead of someone with A level talent but zero heart like Ben Simmons, or A+ talent but toxic personality like Kyrie, Harden, Westbrook and even Durant
Gary Trent Jr. has become a much better than his father, Tyrese Maxey and Jordan Poole could be All-Stars in the near future assuming they keep up their respective great plays (hopefully), Dejounte Murray has been a pleasant surprise because who could've thought that the once known backup to Tony Parker and a defensive stud would become an All-Star and an all-around player we know today.
I do see what your saying about SGA but him starting in the playoffs for the clippers was all I need to see I love him so much most underrated played in the league. (Thunder fan btw)
