Contracts are guaranteed now. In previous eras even all stars could see their contract go up in flames over an injury. Now? A player doesn't have to play a single minute, but they're still going to get their seasons pay unless it was specifically written that they could only miss so many games without a penalty.
I don’t know who everyone is? Since he was a player in college at Florida he been called “Doe Doe” Followed him all the way to the Mavericks, ask any of his teammates. Social media call him DFS just like they call Jaren Jackson. JJJ, it’s weird and it’s lazy
@@Basketball_is_Life_88 I never said Doe Doe isn’t his nickname, but it’s possible for players to have 2 nicknames. Teammates clal him Doe Doe, fans call him DFS
Why is everyone considered a superstar? You guys need to start using proper terms when addressing players like Rising Star, Star, and Superstar. Watering down the term when you apply it to everyone, thus leading to people calling everything a Superteam, and drawing comparisons that never should’ve existed. Superstar is reserved for the top 10 players in the league, superstars are always voted in to the all star game.
I think the issue that that there isn't a player that truly breaks through world wide popularity. I think the NBA is going to be in trouble when LeBron retires because there's no one to pass the torch to. There's no LeBron, Jordan, Kobe etc that even non-basketball fans know and recognize. that's the problem with the young stars.
Trae has picked up his Defense a bit this season, he’s still getting scored on but he’ll fight to get around screens now. He’s also putting in extra work in the passing lanes & starting to rack up some steals, 1.4 in his last 5
Trae Young thinks he's Steph Curry wayyyy too much. Bro doesn't nearly have Curry's game. Curry sprints from end to end non-stop allowing him to get open shots and opens up his teammates. A superstar is willing to constantly move off the ball just to give his teammates the opportunity to get open. Trae is a 15 dribble jack-up a deep three shot guy. Again this comes back to what Austin Rivers was talking about. Highlight culture is killing the game. We have new guys coming in thinking they're in House of Highlights all the time and just jacking up deep contested threes or bad contested shots. Refusal to improve on the basics of the game and improve themselves every season is not helpful at all. Yes, the new generation has immense talent but their fundamentals in basketball are very bad. Guys like Tim Duncan and Kawhi Leonard. Not flashy, but incredibly sound in fundamentals allowed them to dominate the game. Hope the new generation of players work more on their game
@@duffal0 people with character traits like sga's in my opinion have more potential, because they are more willing to learn and therefore become better, coz they dont think they are the best and invincible already and that they dont have anything left to learn. im looking forward to see sga develop, i have great hopes for him.
Hi Andy, can you please make a video about Purvis Short, one of the earliest stretch forward in NBA history with a smooth, high arcing jumpshot but was already forgotten. He had his best years with GSW and had somr pretty good scoring seasons.
IMO, you're right about Morant's maturity being his biggest issue, but how can you say we taken a step back as a team when we are still the #2 seed? Jaren Jackson didn't play for the first ~20 games of the season, and we've been missing Steven Adams and Brandon Clarke due to injury for what feels like over a month now. Even in the face of all this we are still same seed as last year and only 1 game behind last years record. AND last year's Grizzlies record was the second best year in Franchise history, beaten only be the 2012-13 season conference Finals appearance; that's a hard act to follow but we damn near are to a T.
I'm not a Trae fan nor a hawks fan but people shouldn't forget that he led a 5th seed hawks to the conference finals in 2021 in a stacked eastern conference. That alone should get all the respect from the fans.
the real issue is the pandering plus these organization need to empower the coaches nba need to 2 years in the g-league after they leave high-school so they can learn to play in the system and the be drafted if you are playing oversea players who played pro then you can be drafted
the problem with these next gen superstars is that most of them are over hyped, over valued and over payed. also to add, people around them from family, friends and even agents are overly invested on them that they all wanna get their ROI quick.

@@connormccall239 yeah, I’m a Thunder fan so I may be a bit biased but Shai is by far my favorite player to watch in Thunder history, and I genuinely think he can be top 15 player of all time. He just is so damn good and doesn’t miss even the toughest shots.
@@duffal0 that’s quite the praise. Especially considering OKC has had 3 eventual mvps on their roster. Could be something special there
I would say Jayson Tatum's problem is that he's fairly inefficient, especially for a guy his size. His 3-ball is around league average, and his fg% is in the mid-40s.
How about Haliburton? Everybody sleep on him now, but he's already an All-star and to he's legit superstar. I guess he just needs better roster to start winning and attract more attention
What didn’t help Trae Young was the Hawks making a surprise ECF run during the 20-21 season because it essentially allowed him to retain his garbage shot selection.
What did help Trae Young was the Hawks losing to the Heat the next year because my man came back this season with some defense. Has more steals this year than Jrue Holiday.
To give a bit more context, I've watched about 80% of the Hawks games this year and the defensive improvement from Trae has been a sight to see. He's out there getting deflections, sticking to his man, rotating and communicating. Now I'm not gonna gas him up like he's suddenly a good defender, but he's on his way if he keeps putting in the work.
Tatum's dilemma is his lack of handles and shot selection...i can remember his getting clamped in the playoffs by the Heat role players. that shouldnt happen with a so called superstar.
Tatums not that guy Ozzes overated. Like he’s nice but he’s not clutch or dominate he’s just a great player don’t think he’s got that it factor that can make you top 5 in the league

Not really. Dame had similar numbers to Trae and took similar shots. Dame doesn’t get criticized cuz he turned out good, but Trae does cuz he hasn’t proven himself yet but he legit can’t he’s like 24

Don't go overhyping the man. Yeh he's good but not THAT good. He still needs more time
Him and Bam are as impactful as most of the players on this list
I love Hali but he’s not on the level of anyone mentioned here except maybe Trae
I was going to say when he got picked in the draft, "what is a guy the same size as me, and the muscles of me getting picked so high" I thought that was weird then and now.
Last year Mavs was way better than with Kyrie.
The Brunson Effect
my only complain about today's game is these players get injury way too frequent man 🤦🏽♂️
Need more of them PED's lol
Part of it is because the game is faster paced
Contracts are guaranteed now. In previous eras even all stars could see their contract go up in flames over an injury.
Now? A player doesn't have to play a single minute, but they're still going to get their seasons pay unless it was specifically written that they could only miss so many games without a penalty.
@@KB-qk1ic facts I agree
That’s a stupid complaint. This has been an issue throughout the history of the league.
Only because I know who you were talking about, DFS is not a nickname for Dorian Finney-Smith.. simply he liked the name Doe Doe
Everyone calls him DFS
I don’t know who everyone is?
Since he was a player in college at Florida he been called “Doe Doe”
Followed him all the way to the Mavericks, ask any of his teammates.
Never heard that until this video. So news to everyone but you I guess
All these guys are superstars besides maybe Trae
I think the issue that that there isn't a player that truly breaks through world wide popularity. I think the NBA is going to be in trouble when LeBron retires because there's no one to pass the torch to. There's no LeBron, Jordan, Kobe etc that even non-basketball fans know and recognize. that's the problem with the young stars.
If Zion was just healthy man. They can make Finals and win at the same time.
Unfortunately we never will be
He needs to drop some weight.
I don’t think his heart is in New Orleans
They’re not beating the nuggets Celtics or bucks
@@kitothekito915 yes they can
Trae has picked up his Defense a bit this season, he’s still getting scored on but he’ll fight to get around screens now.
Hope the new generation of players work more on their game
this made me like sga even more.
He’s my favorite player in the league. He’s like Ja but better on defense and a more humble guy off the court
@@duffal0 people with character traits like sga's in my opinion have more potential, because they are more willing to learn and therefore become better, coz they dont think they are the best and invincible already and that they dont have anything left to learn. im looking forward to see sga develop, i have great hopes for him.
Zach Randolph had some growing pains and he learned from it. I believe Ja will as well. Maybe Ja should gain some knowledge from Zebo.
Came back here after Ja getting suspended again for the same thing of flashing a gun in an Instagram Live. Anyone else present here?
Not fair criticizing a really good mid-range shot it's a lost art great to see a young player utilizing it 👍
They are the potential next generation of superstars, they aren't on that level yet. They are stars
Luka being overweight is why he's getting injured.
Can you even by definition call trae young a superstar i don’t think he’s that player yet
Now the only letter associated with y'all is L
Love this content
Tatum biggest dilemma is his consistency and also last year in the finals he turned into a turnover machine
Excellent topic Andy thanks
I'm not a Trae fan nor a hawks fan but people shouldn't forget that he led a 5th seed hawks to the conference finals in 2021 in a stacked eastern conference. That alone should get all the respect from the fans.
Alot of Hawks fans use that run to justify everything though. Trae simply hasn’t been that great this year
@@duffal0 He’s averaging 27 and 10 this season through 47 games
@@gunhooaciel and he’s shooting horrible from everywhere on the court while being a coke defensively
I think Tatum’s issue is consistency because he goes ghost every so often and has an awful performance
the real issue is the pandering plus these organization need to empower the coaches
nba need to 2 years in the g-league after they leave high-school so they can learn to play in the system and the be drafted
if you are playing oversea players who played pro then you can be drafted
They bout to bring the hs to nba rule back this won't happen
the problem with these next gen superstars is that most of them are over hyped, over valued and over payed. also to add, people around them from family, friends and even agents are overly invested on them that they all wanna get their ROI quick.
Brown had no tstum rookie year
Dunno about this one Andy 🤔
All his takes this video we’re pointless and 🗑️
I don’t think Trae is as good as the other players in the video and doesn’t belong in the conversation. But other than Shai, I’ve watched him the least out of this group so I could be wrong.
Gotta watch Shai more, he’s so fun to watch
@@duffal0 yeah he’s a beast but as a hornets fan it hurts to watch him. Trading him for bridges was obviously a huge mistake
I think he’s better than Trae because he has so much more defensive potential, maybe that could push him top 15 all time. I’m jealous though, that roster is way more exciting than the hornets. Could be something special there
A lot of ppl overreact to Trae and act like this is the player he will always be when he is only in his 5th season
ja is the biggest concern as i dont see how he is going to change that
I would say Jayson Tatum's problem is that he's fairly inefficient, especially for a guy his size. His 3-ball is around league average, and his fg% is in the mid-40s.
I said Finney-Smith shouldn't have been included in that trade the day I heard about it. The Mavs overestimated their perimeter defense without him.
Cj said that when he first got traded last year
Ja’s biggest problem right now is himself. He needs to grow up. Right now he’s acting so immature. Hopefully he gets some help.
Lol Ben is already out of convo. Dude really offed himself to obscurity
Thank u Andy for another great video! I have become a loyal viewer 😊
Sga biggest dilemma is shooting the 3, but other than that he’s a complete player, no issues on or off the court. OKC’s next Superstar.
That’s crazy This and the new Caine video were posted at the exact same time
How about Haliburton? Everybody sleep on him now, but he's already an All-star and to he's legit superstar. I guess he just needs better roster to start winning and attract more attention
I hope zion won't end up greg oden 2.0
Tired of this narrative, Zion is nothing like Greg oden. There only similarity is being black.
dude is averaging 25 + ppg and 60 fg% for the second season in his career how is that anything like greg oden.
Fantastic video.
POUND FOR POUND HE IS AI IN HIS PRIME BUT A BETTER PASSER 🙃 LEARN SOMETHING
HE BEAT EMBIID IN THE PLAYOFFS
To give a bit more context, I've watched about 80% of the Hawks games this year and the defensive improvement from Trae has been a sight to see. He's out there getting deflections, sticking to his man, rotating and communicating. Now I'm not gonna gas him up like he's suddenly a good defender, but he's on his way if he keeps putting in the work.
The only “dilemma” with Shai is he’s in a bum ass team
Tatum's dilemma is his lack of handles and shot selection...i can remember his getting clamped in the playoffs by the Heat role players. that shouldnt happen with a so called superstar.
Trae Young’s biggest issue is he is getting bald and he won’t look as good as Luka
Tatums not that guy Ozzes overated. Like he’s nice but he’s not clutch or dominate he’s just a great player don’t think he’s got that it factor that can make you top 5 in the league
Give Tatum time to blossom in playoffs. He will.
The bit about SGA is a little off. KD, Lebron, Kawhi and MJ all FEAST in the midrange during the playoffs
Trae Young coaches killing 🤣😂😅
9:45 Josh Howard immediately answers your question.
Dwight Powell has been with Dallas for 9 seasons that tells you all you need to about the mavericks willingness to seek talent.
I feel bad for Bogdanovic at this point. My man is way too good to be benched. He will be a good asset in contending teams.
I agree of all ecxept about SGA.
Fax he doesn’t even rely on the mid range that much. I think he genuinely has no weaknesses in his game
Imagine living in an era where lottery picks smoked crack to death, ate their way out the league, etc?
Only .. when Brunson and KP left Luka- they showed how great hey are..
Luka has help the thing is those guys (Porzingis, Brunson and Dinwiddie) have been pigeon holed to just stand around and let Luka do something I mean when those guys left Dallas they have solid seasons because they're allowed to do more
Jaylen Brown your next video Andy Hoops 🙏🙏🙏
i remember before the season start alot of people saying that hawks backcourt is better than cavs 😂
I like how he says Steph or dame range when trae literally dominates that spot, nba literally posted the leading scorer for each spot and trae is on the long range in his 2nd season
Finney Smith wasn't a two way player.
He’s saying two way like offense and defense
@@duffal0 yeah finney has no offence. So he's one way
Haven't watch the video but I can guess what ja is lol
Tatum receives a ton of praise for critics but Jalen Brown is the guy who doesn't get enough credit handed to him.
Kenny smith made sense. Zion should be playing in shape not playing to get in shape.
His injury had nothing to do with him being in shape, it was a freak hamstring tear.
A very valid critique of Trae
Not really. Dame had similar numbers to Trae and took similar shots. Dame doesn’t get criticized cuz he turned out good, but Trae does cuz he hasn’t proven himself yet but he legit can’t he’s like 24
6:44 he walked didn’t he?
Nah the Luka one is just mad facts, even I as a fan of his and the Mavs know that. I just don’t understand why Cuban can’t just find good pieces around his star players, it just doesn’t make sense to me.
Kyrie is a good pick up in my opinion though, someone who can shoot from any end of the court, it’s the other pieces that are just…why? Why are they so keen on Dwight Powell and Reggie Bullock when they have done fuck all for the team, give up on them already.
On Zion section of all ppl talking about anyone JJ Redick should NEVER open his mouth.. 1 he was NEVER that dude in the nba period.. 2nd This guy(Redick) told a rookie Zion not to eff up his playoff streak.. to a rookie NOT the team not a seasoned vet who knows how the NBA works... but to a fresh off the draft Rookie.. smh
3:11 what the dejounte looked like he was AI created
Um cj goes crazy most playoffs what a terrible take lmao
