Spend a spring day at my cottage with me - it was wonderful to get some time off for slow living after some very busy days working. Sometimes I find myself too focused on the long work days and don’t bother to walk too far beyond my home. But I wanted to adventure further today. To decompress I made a point of experiencing with all my senses (my friend calls it ‘turning the ordinary extraordinary’). All it takes is a quiet moment to ask, what do I see, smell, taste, etc. thank you for joining me ❤️

I took inspiration from the recipe below for my lilac rice pudding. Instead of using lemon and lavender I replaced those elements with a simple lilac infused milk and a dollop of maple syrup. I am working on a recipe with specific measurements that I will share once it is perfected.

When I was a little girl, there was a lilac tree in my yard in the PNW. I would cut off clusters of blooms and stick them into my ponytail and pretend I was a fairy princess. Thank you for reminding me of the magic of that memory!

That arroz con dulce really reminds me of "Milchreis": In Germany we cook rice in milk and serve it with cherries or cinnamon and sugar. It's funny how dishes from opposite sides of the world can be so similar! :)
Arroz con leche (literally "Reis mit Milch") in Spain, too. Cooked in milk with sugar infused with lemon and orange peel and served with cinnamon on top. Yes, it's funny, there's almost the same dessert in lots of other places, it's a quite universal recipe :)

Thank you for using music with actual string instruments! As a freelance musician, I appreciate ANYONE who uses a soundtrack with real vs. synthesized instruments. I remember working a day in a recording studio over 30 yr. ago with other string players. At the end of the session, one of the technicians asked the first violinist to stay after to “lay down some track”, using her recorded notes for his synthesizer. She refused, as she knew what that meant for all of us. 😉🙏🏻🎻

I went hiking with my little dog today. When I reached the river I got in knee deep. The water was marvelous and warm. We were the only ones there. It was so refreshing and I felt joyful. It was the perfect moment. Maybe next time my little dog will dive in like your sweet friend. I could relate when you got into the water with your dog. What a delight to see you both having fun!!!!
