You are not alone, though for me it's a tie with the original ST. As a child of the '70s, seeing ST sparked my imagination in ways that gave me a lifetime love of space, and while the show is obviously dated in some ways, it holds up surprisingly well as dramatic sci-fi storytelling.

There exists a historic prejudice toward DS9 which is still at play today. With the current Kurtzman era showrunners, many of which truly do not 'get' or understand Trek, Deep Space Nine is something truly beyond their comprehension. Of all the legacy series requiring a serious continuation; DS9 is that show. Such a rich universe enfolds this series and so very many stories can still yet be told in that universe. When do we get a Star Trek; Sisko or a continuation limited series set in the DS9 section of the Trek universe??

A traumatized Cardassian that had so much guilt over just being at a concentration camp, he wanted to be executed to make Cardassia face the atrocities they commited and make amends. In the end, blind hatred existed on both sides. A great story doesn't need special affects.

Deep Space Nine was the most complex, thoughtful, deep Star Trek, period. It addressed issues that still have never come up elsewhere. It talked about the adventure of who they were and how cultures could recover; going beyond a really surface level that almost all Trek shows do.. and, frankly, there has -NEVER- been a better villain that Kai Winn, who was so damn evil.

Before another day passes by, Paramount should green light a DS9 "continuation" movie; not a reboot. Please don't mess with a great thing. They can bring back everyone, with the sad exception of those who have left us much too soon (Aron and Rene). Side stories to the plot . . . have O'Brien return as a much more experienced engineering chief of Star Fleet, coming back after all these years to integrate the newest systems into the station he knows too well. Have Kira's character be the leader of the entire Bajoran militia; of which the military mission of DS9 falls under her jurisdiction. And have Jadzia Dax return as one of the prophets, since her death was defending Bajor, and she was attacked in DS9's Bajoran temple. This will have carried on her friendship with Benjamin Sisko, who was in the celestial temple for all of those years also. DS9 RULES!

@@BassByTheBay The creator of Babylon 5 went to the company that ran Star Trek to see if they would pick up Babylon 5. He basically gave them his "bible" for the show. They declined and next thing you know DS9 came out, with a lot of similarities. That said, still love both.

Hmm... because Dax was killed, everybody thinks there's no Dax in future shows but... there is Jadzia in the Mirrorverse and other realities. The Jadzia in the other realm was still alive but maybe open to surprises like Discovery's Phillipa Georgiou...or the novel's edition of Wesley Trek is unveiling as an evil villain.

Let’s hope Star Trek Deep Space 9 and Star Trek Voyager will get the same remastering treatment (HD or 4K) like Star Trek TOS and Star Trek TNG! These iconic series deserve it!
