  • We installed a Magnuson 2650 supercharger to Carter's 2020 Camaro 2SS and gained a hundred horsepower to the wheels and a full second off his quarter mile time.

    The best part of this video was the father and son moments. I wish I had this chance with my dad putting car parts together. Awesome video can’t wait to get my Magnasun !

    Congrats on getting into the the 11's! Always fun. side note; 1/4 mph times are nice, but MPH is very helpful info too. It Lets us know what the car is probably capable of with a perfect launch.
    The fuzzy focus on the track runs was frustrating, but also hilarious. Great video of a fun project either way. Thank you for posting an experience that can make us all smile.

    This car is a mid 11 sec machine, added 100 wheel so its near 510-520 wheel/565-580 crank. Once past 580 wheel/650 crank is where engine life drops by 65%..

      The only weak spot is the rods and pistons and rings. If they ever wanted to get this thing into a 900 hp car they would have to do rods, piston rings, and high & low fuel pump. Of course heads/cam. The Lt block is stronger than the LS platform and is only limited by the VVT, which can be changed over with the heads/cam install.

    So.... I have a 2021 Dodge Durango RT, Tow N Go - which is 99% SRT except with the 5.7 engine. A simple out-of-the-box Whipple and HP Tuners will get me around 620 crank HP. But, I got an email from Magnuson 2 weeks ago they have a new supercharger for my application. I'm on the fence between these 2! I'm reading a lot of bad things lately about Whipple on multiple auto forums - and they only offer a 1-year warranty whereas Magnuson offers a THREE (3) year warranty! *How did you make final decision on the Mag? Thanks! 🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁

      My local hotrod shop (Lonestar Horsepower) highly recommends the Magnuson kit on 6th gen Camaros but they like Whipple on Mopar vehicles. I trust their experience with selling and installing each kit. I assume they like the fitment and power gains from the Magnuson kit on 6th gen Camaros.

    • @bendavis35
      @bendavis35  2 месяца назад

      I would estimate 40 hours total for one person on their first time to install this kit if you have all the tools and supplies. I could probably do it again in 30 hours now that I know everything that has to be done. I highly recommend an assistant to help set the supercharger onto the engine, that is really the only step the requires two people.

    I have 6th gen 2SS. The "catch can" is un-necessary. A tune is also un-necessary unless you change internals. Why did you put headers on the the car? Didn't it come with the "performance exhaust option?"

    • @08turboSS
      @08turboSS 6 месяцев назад

      Headers are not a performance upgrade from manufacture, only muffs.

    • @08turboSS
      @08turboSS 6 месяцев назад

      And internals on automatics muzt be swapped to eliminate the DOD.

    • @eamoncoleman1786
      @eamoncoleman1786 3 месяца назад

      Most simple mods require tunes. Even headers or intake manifold or TB. Leaving a motor untuned is a good way to blow it up.

      And he did hit 11.2 with the SC on street tires. He's at about ZL1 power levels with 550 rwhp.
      I run 11.9 on street tires myself, Car in shop for Stage 2 cam, DOD delete, TCM unlock, and retune with E85. I don't expect to get 550rwhp, but, if I had to guess maybe 510-530 at best. Although the shop I took it too says 550 is doable. But I still have stock heads, so not sure they can squeeze 550 with the mods I have and a cam. Something has to give and I think it'll either be the pistons, or the fuel system on my car.

    • @Trucker0308

    • @bendavis35

      No wine at all. My son and I were both hoping for a bit of belt wine but it's almost silent and the full exhaust drowns out everything else anyway.

    • @al151
      @al151 9 месяцев назад +2

      If you want the whine you need a cam setup with a pulley swap. 2650R setup is best for a cam.

      I agree it is a lot of work and money for 100hp. Obviously this supercharger is capable of lots more flow with other supporting mods. We are considering a built motor and fuel system next that will be able to produce several hundred more ponies.

    LT1s are not made for superchargers, hence the LT4. All you did was take their money and add problems for the future. You admitted yourself "you have not done this before".

    • @TheSupermonkeymaster
      @TheSupermonkeymaster 7 месяцев назад +5

      This is fine for an lt1 and it's not a waste of money obviously. Some drop in pistons would be nice if you want to go for big power. I also have a 2650 with stock rods and pistons. It's been going strong for 2 years now.

    • @08turboSS
      @08turboSS 6 месяцев назад

      LT1 is NOT made for much more than 620 wheel/700 crank. and infact if you have a Automatic you have to remove the cylinder deactivation which means replacing 4 weak lifters/springs, etc abd oil plugs and lastly the cam itself and crank and thats 5-6k worth of parts and labor right there. Cam swaps were easy on the LS3 but these new versions of the ole LS are complicated and require removing lots of stuff. The manual trans cars dont have the DOD but are still limited in pwer before needing a built motor.
