I watched Mystery Men in the theater when it was released. I was surprised by how many people DIDN’T see it, because everyone who HAD seen it seemed to love it. Even with so many big-name stars, perhaps it was just not marketed well? It just seems such a shame to me. It was a brilliant movie.
I saw it by sort of by accident with my best friend. We went to the theater mid day. We saw The Blair Witch Project because we found that movie so awful we had to go back inside to get a palate cleanser. Mystery Man just happened to be the next movie to be showed there.
I saw it in theater too but I knew then it would bomb even if I was weird enough to like it myself. It is super cheesy and not super memorable but I liked most characters. I never liked Ben Stiller in it but loved Hank's Blue Rajat and Will Macy's Shoveler. And Tom Waits was great. It would have been way better if it came after Watchmen and parodied that style instead of Batman & Robin with that cheesy as hell 90's vibe.
I didn't see it until this past year. Didn't know it existed. A combination of poor marketing and it being ahead of it's time I guess because watching it now I thought was a good fun film.

This one’s fun. Everything about it is backwards, and the cast is great. ...So the TLOT did 10 times better at the Box Office. 😄
And if we search for a longer run type of data... MM has 68 551 votes on IMDb, and TLOT has 180 628 votes ; so basically, 3 times more people care about TLOT than they do for MM. 🤷♂
I always loved this moved. Still waiting for a sequel.
One of My Favorite Comic Book Films😆💜.
It was a great movie that was ahead of it's time. I still have it on DVD.
Still one of my favorite Films seen it dozens of times.
Saw it in the theater and loved it. Bought it on DVD when it first came out. Saw the Tarzan movie at the theater, too. The less said about that, the better.
I love this movie.
I love this channel
Great stuff.

I think your take that it would do better in today’s world of over saturation with superhero movies is spot on.
I seriously love this movie. Even bought the soundtrack.
Love this movie, and thank you minty!!
Two superhero movies that don't get enough love are Mystery Men and The Specials.
I’m not into superheroes, but loved this film back when i worked in a video store.
One of my favorite movies ever.
I trust your MO in bringing the details and who to cover. Stay the course, captain.
Love this movie! So many great actors. & Casanova Frankenstein has to be one of the greatest villain names ever.
Yes, it's definitely up there with Dr. Frank-N-Furter.
I saw that Tarzan movie.
I love this film and the Smashmouth song is perfect for it.
Absolutely love Mystery Men.have the DVD but still watch it anytime I find it streaming. Favorite Character is the Shoveler, just because William H. Macy played him and he's one of my favorite actors. and Casanova Frankenstein is one of my favorite Super-Villains just for that name, Such a great movie, too many people missed out on one of the best Comic Book films ever made. Fun Fact: future Transformers director Michael Bay played the leader of the villain team "The Fratboys"
