Auckland is a huge city for it's population size, there is so much more then just walking through downtown!!
Downtown not living anymore.No parking.Smith and Caught closing this summer.

You both look so much more relaxed then when you first got here. Seems the kiwi way of life has rubbed off onto you that easy going kiwi vibe. Nice to meet you Glen and Mado. Wasnt expected. That tall building umder construction is an apartment block called Seascape. It will be the tallest building in New Zealand other than the Sky Tower.

They left NZ weeks ago. Since then they have visited Fiji, Vanuatu, Australia and now are in Japan.

You missed the best part of the waterfront. From the ferry terminal through to the Wynyard quarter is really nice.

I will miss you both but hopefully we get to travel to Japan with you. I live on Waiheke Island in Auckland. I was in the city on friday and thought wouldn't it be cool to see Glen and Mado but no. Happy Travelling you two. Thanks for showing me my country.
Ha! I used to live on the 26th floor of that tall white apartment tower that Glen said would be very expensive to live in. (It is 6 Lorne St). Its a nice building, but didn't have double glazing so you get all the noise from around the city. Including loud buskers at 2am! :(
Sky Tower, it’s def worth it ! Walk over the city on its glass floor in places ❤️
3:01 - used to live in that apartment eight above the ICBC balcony.. the two windows on the left and right of the front corner... sometimes would climb out onto that balcony through the left window (not sure why)... it was very noise although I see they have closed the cnr of Queen and Quay Street to traffic so would be much better now... ICBC was a bar back then
Good tour but you guys missed going to the Viaduct and Wynyard Quarter around the waterfront!

As someone from a small south island town. I can't handle the busyness and the amount of people in Auckland. I definitely like the smaller towns more. But I guess it all depends on what your into
Vulcan Lane is very old. If you look the Occidental Pub 2nd & 3rd building on the left at 34:00 it isn't straight at all

Thanks for showing a lot of us kiwis a look around our country . kiwis think it's too small so a lot of people go over seas to bigger Country's to look around.and our home country is truly so beautiful . loved your videos you two wear your hearts on your selve and it showed in all your vids around our Country .So glad uses came down to see middle Earth and all us hobbits

Pity you didn't pop inside the Civic theatre, quite amazing. Also go on the ferry to Devonport or out to the local islands. Auckland is for making money and then you get yourself a place out of town. :)

Sky Towers base goes 150 metres underground,sits on 4 massive steel balls , earthquake proof apparently.
If you went into the ferry building you would see thats where to get the ferry to Devonport, to Waiheke Island etc, Shame if you missed that.

Those scooters are a health hazard and something has to be done before a pedestrian like Mado gets killed, it was closer than Glen said, and if Mado had stepped out it would probably have hit her. Point of interest, the public area that you were walking around on where the bouncy castles were is the top of an underground car park building.

I'm on the Shore..born and bred in the South Is..Auckland Central was great last Century,a busy vibrant place full of crowds and people enjoying themselves.now, after Covid, it's a Ghost town, full of undesirables and not safe to visit.
Those mural birds are Huias. They went extinct because settlers would hunt them for their feathers which Victorian ladies donned in their hats.
Guess you missed the homeless people walking up Queen St (the main shopping street in NZ)

Auckland is great but the CBD is dying, thank you for putting a good spin on it but there is an awful lot of work to be done as evidenced by the amount of shut stores you captured. It hasn't recovered from the double whammy of the CRL and Covid but people should not come to Auckland for the shopping, it has so much more to offer than shopping and buildings. You should have gone to Waiheke or done a wine trail out west, checked out the Hunuas or the West coast so many great experiences.
Auckland looks lifeless compared to 30 years ago.
I was there recently on a Sunday, and there were thousands of people creating a good vibe. More life on a Sunday than any other NZ city even on their busiest days

Pity you toured through the most superficial part of Auckland ever. That area is really built for tourists from the boats visiting, hence all the high class brands. Plus it's the financial district and universities for overseas students. Not for you guys though! You would be better just to tour around in your car, drive around the bays etc. Lots of big parks like Cornwall, Domain, drive up some of the hills that give you fab views. Hopefully you got to do some of that.

I think Auckland is quite a nice place to live ....but it isn't the best place for visitors. Sydney is far more exciting and entertaining for tourists.
How embarrassing to show visitors the hollowed out husk that is central Auckland. Its a damn shame, ten years ago you would have experienced a vibrant living bustling city...

As someone who was born in NZ I honestly think Auckland is a miserable city and a horrible place to live. It may be different as a tourist but to me Auckland is not NZ as it isn't even full of kiwis anymore, it has terrible public transport so its very bad to get around and about and the traffic his horrific and worse than cities with 10 times the population. I hate Auckland with a passion and I would say to foreigners to please realise Auckland is not true NZ

@GlenAndMado where abouts did you go? The waterfront is pretty nice. I live out east. Pretty quiet out here with the exception of Botany. Howick is good so is Bucklands Beach. Out west Piha is amazing
