yes this one was a strange one for me as well. I couldn't believe that you called supper tea and had tea hot in a cup with milk. When I was little my cousin must have been married to an english lady and for breakfast we thought she made a few mistakes for one she gave us a cup we thought must have been coffee that we was not old enough to drink but then we learned that she had put tea in in instead of coffee plus she put ketchup on our scrambled eggs. We was a little shocked that a grown woman could do this. We lived in the states. So it was a little strange to us. We drank ice tea and never put ketchup on our eggs. It is almost impossible to go out here in NZ and order ice tea. As a matter of fact you rarely get ice in any drink unless you request it. I have been in NZ for 25 years now I still say supper. I do warn people that visit that when tea is offered it is hot in a cup and usually with milk and they usually reply oh no.

In England they call dinner "tea" in the north, because they used to have their main meal of the day at lunchtime, and call that "dinner." The evening meal would be something light, served with a pot of tea. Because most early NZ settlers came from England that term was brought here and used the same way.

@@GlenAndMado They have a big voice for such a small bird. We live in Auckland and have them in our garden. I love them. We have some fantails that come inside the house in Summer, sing us a song, then flit about catching any fruit flies (we always have a fruit bowl and the vege/fruit-scrap bin for the compost that the fruit flies appear out of nowhere for in the Summer). The fantails sometimes have a wee tour of the house while they're inside, might land somewhere for a bit of preening, sing us another song and then flit outside again. They'll often make several visits a day, but always sing a little song when they come in, and another before they leave. It is like they're saying "Hello" and "Goodbye". Some people think it's bad luck to have them come inside, I think it's a privilege. They are like honoured guests and once we figured out they were coming in for the fruit flies we'd take the lid off the scrap bin for them for a few minutes so they could have a little extra. :-)
I came in with a smile on my face when I read about the "Ferry " bread. Yes it's a party bread and so easy to do for children's birthday's etc, but it's "Fairy bread " as I see someone else has pointed out. It's a failing of the New Zealand accent that Fairy And Ferry are almost indistinguishable,, by the locals as well. (I wonder if children think they get visits from the tooth Ferry!I ) I thought it would improve but that was 1953 and I've made no impression. Probably my fault as I don't like to call people out on pronunciation. I prefer Vegemite to Marmite and you can get away with not having to use it so sparingly. It' because it's yeast-based, it's a flavour that takes you by surprise. I've loved your time in NZ and you've been so natural and friendly. Thank you for sharing with us, and do keep going please.
The best thing about New Zealand is its people. I just want them to know how wonderful they are. Everyone is so kind ,friendly and willing to help. I LOVE NZ and NZer so much

lol painting fences, that's hilarious, we're just planning the colour we're going to paint the fence on our new house and it isn't even built yet 🤣I thought everyone painted fences.
The lolly cake was marshmallow sweets and we have automatics mostly due to the vast amount of Japanese imports that are automatics..plus they are better to drive around towns.
Very sad to see the last of your NZ tour - living away from NZ for 30 years you have re-introduced me back to NZ and what I have missed. Wish you the very best on your next travels - I wonder if and when you decide to settle down if you think of NZ as a home. Take care now!
Not sure if you mean seeing kiwi at all or specifically a wild kiwi, but if you are talking seeing one at all, then there is a Kiwi House in Whangarei (Northland) at the Heritage Park in Maunu next to the museum & bird recovery centre. It's a nocturnal house, so can see the Kiwi out & about doing its thing during daylight hours.
Had lots of laughs from this one. Really enjoyed it. Could comment about lots of things, but the "ferry" is actually "fairy" bread, as in children loving fairies. We've never seen people keeping their cars running in carparks, but we realise you have done a lot more "parking" than we have. Real enjoyed this series. We'll keep an eye open for you as you continue to travel.
Lolly cake = eskimo lollies (1pack) + malt biscuits (1pack crushed) + 1/2 tin condensed milk + butter + cocunut (to roll the lolly log in before you cut it and then set it in the fridge before slicing and eating).
I followed your travels around NZ and enjoyed this video but you forgot to mention the stalls with honesty boxes for eggs, fruit & veggie on the side of the roads, you were always amazed and grateful when you bought from them.

You'd have to get very, very rural before you heard it pronounced ferry bread. I'd expect the same people have out-houses and no indoor toilets.
Fantastic job guys that you brought up the fact that the predators are really destroying wildlife habitat in our country.
The best thing about New Zealand is its people. I just want them to know how wonderful they are. Everyone is so kind ,friendly and willing to help. I LOVE NZ and NZer so much
love a good pie! every shop has different style / flavour
Hey you two it was fantastic having you guys here, just missed meeting you in eastbourne as you were leaving for the south, enjoyed your holiday, showed me a few places I haven't been to, all the best to you both for the future, may see ya back here some day, travel safe cheers!
aw no way! Maybe we will be back sometime🤗
Guy's Lolly cake is malt biscuits condensed milk Marshmallows and Coconut. Into a slice tin.
lol painting fences, that's hilarious, we're just planning the colour we're going to paint the fence on our new house and it isn't even built yet 🤣I thought everyone painted fences.
haha 🤣🤣
Lolly cake has marshmellow and it has a lotta malt biscuits
Can't beat a marmite chippie sandwich 😋 ❤
Youths is an SUV 😂 we spell it Utes, short for Utility vehicle, basically synonymous with 'pickup truck' these days. Used to be smaller car sized ones
Another Aussie invention.
What's with the mix up with "youths" & "utes".... pretty unrelated🤨
Thank you for making this video. I love my homeland and all our quirky ways. 😂❤❤
we had such an amazing time :)

Our damp weather then hot summer heat can damage fence’s easily so painting them often to prevent warping etc is needed
She’ll be right…churr bro!!! Just having tea,I mean dinner.
Hey Guys. Kia Ora for all the great content. ❤
We really wanted to see a kiwi in wild but yes there are a few places where you can see them!
We definitely mean fairy, I guess that's the irish pronunciation🤣🤣
Fresh as white toast bread, heaps of butter, lots of fresh lettuce leaves, with a little marmite spread, bloody awesome.
Lolly cake = eskimo lollies (1pack) + malt biscuits (1pack crushed) + 1/2 tin condensed milk + butter + cocunut (to roll the lolly log in before you cut it and then set it in the fridge before slicing and eating).
Mado you would be a good interviewer.
I followed your travels around NZ and enjoyed this video but you forgot to mention the stalls with honesty boxes for eggs, fruit & veggie on the side of the roads, you were always amazed and grateful when you bought from them.
@@BridgetChin your totally right! Forgot that one but it will be mentioned in our next video 😅
How Kiwis show their social status is by showing their Aroha we are a nation of Love.
The bird song will be from the" TUI "
Bellbirds

am wondering if you got to sample the main New Zealand delicacy "Pavlova"...
We've got to try the NZ pavlova on Christmas day at a kiwi family☺
@@GlenAndMado YAY ! ! Pavlova is the best
