Those generation Chevy & GMC Suburbans are very rare nowadays. But the regular cab pickups with that same body style on the other hand I still see out on the roads once in a while.
i would love to have that tough red/white c20 4x4. the rust belt regions of the us have always been hard on all makes of cars and trucks. a car or trucks long term longevity was how well the owners took car of them.
JSSuper281 they fixed a lot of issues by changing the body style in 2014. But now there gonna mess it all up again with these 2019's.. It's like what is going on over at GM.. I'll just stick with my 82 😊
At last years Barret Jackson auction they had three barn find 1979, 1980 pickups that only had a total of 5000 miles between them. They still smelled new, they had been bought by a resort in Canada that parked them indoors during winter and only came out during summer months for yard work. i so wanted one and was blown away by these time machine.

Where did gm go wrong? They were the best trucks ever until 91 and when they stopped making squares and got rid of the 350 small block they just went to shit.

they went all out with that rust protection but it did not work worth shit, it was very futile and the technology just wasn't there yet. you do have to get them credit for trying though, i do!
joe Costello True, it's rust resistant, not proof. You could avoid rust by not scratching the paint. A scratch could turn into a giant hole within 10 years.
That's right if want to keep your car rust free you have to wax it on a daily basis and check the paint for any nicks and fix them before they turn into huge holes. That's why most rusted out because people didn't take care of them they just drove them.
I would suggest look for one now wile they still around and not badly priced then put in a storage locker for like 25-50 bucks a month to preserve and protect it. Then roll it out when ya ready to do more with her after school. You wait tell 2032 the ones left for cheap will be rusted and ruined.

my father truck brought it in 1979 and every week we go desert to camping , he sold it in 2000 or 2002 without any problems
