Thanks for the video and the link. In the description you mention 16khz quartz, I assume this is more like 16Mhz ? I have a damaged cube board due to 12V battery, and I might get a shot a this fix but my quartz inscriptions are "e160 702a" which I can't find any references to so far.
@@MukGyver with VPN it worked. But I just saw delivery January to February. Maybe do you have some spare pieces and time and to try repair my cubes? Ur from Netherlands how can I contact u?
I lost the squares due to installing a battery that did not fit the cubes in terms of power. Then I discovered the error and installed the appropriate battery, but it does not work. Is there a solution for this?
Thanks for the video but I am also having no luck with the link and am trying to source the crystal oscillators elsewhere. Does anyone have any more information on the specs. Voltage, size etc.
Digital Dream Labs is selling new cubes for $25 U.S. plus shipping. I ordered a complete set but they sent 2 #2 and a #3 cube. Never got a response from any e-mails or messeges to try and correct the issue. Finally gave up and just ordered another #1. They sent the correct one. All three cubes work perfect. Now for the extra #2, have you determined the difference between the cube hardware? Since the boards are physically numbered I'm assuming a trace difference rather than software control. Though thier canned programming won't support it, I'd like to try and change the extra #2 to a #4 for programming purposes.
@@MukGyver My Cozmo did its update long before I got cubes or even a charger. I never had the Anki app and it was not available. DDL had an app and the first thing it did when I linked with Cozmo was do a long firmware update. I initially charged Cozmo with the 5v hack I saw on RUclips DDL made some Cozmos but I recently bought an old Anki Cozmo by itself at a thrift store for $2.
Hello, by mistake I put 12v batteries in the cubes instead of 1.5v. Now the cubes no longer work. Do I need to do the same thing as in your video to get them working again ?
Depending on how much damage is done, this method is very likely to help you repair the cubes. However, the power supply circuit or the processor itself could be damaged also.
@@taimalishat7058firstly I recommend you to try a fix as shown on my video. It's cheap and easy. If it doesn't work you should look to buy a new cube.
Do you think this solution works for vector’s cube as well? Cuz i bought a second hand vector with cube and when i replaced the battery with a proper one instead of the 12v that was inside it was glowing only in red and yellow.
Ended up getting another Cozmo set, robot and everything. The robot himself turned out to be broken, but his cubes work! Just a touch of discoloring in the lights.
Quartz Resonator Crystal Oscillator I bought it from here:

Thank you for noticing the mistake. The crystal must be 16MHz.
the link isnt available any more, do you have another one ?
Link works for me. Try using VPN maybe or here:

Omg same!
The situation is similar but damage could be different. Try to fix it, you have nothing to lose.
I have a problem where it does the diagnosis but it doesn’t connect to the software?

Just search (google) for "Metal 4pin 16MHZ Passive SMD Quartz Crystal Oscillator"
On the video, you indicate 16 kHz pkgd but the site only sells MHz loose resonators. Is it 16 kHz or 16 MHz?
Thank you for noticing the mistake. The resonator should be 16MHz.
@@MukGyver Thankyou for the quick response and helpful video

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I didn't notice the hardware difference either, most likely the software code is different between the cubes.

Do you know how to put the transparent bit of the cube back on?
Did it break?

Sorry, but I don't think that this solution will work for the vector's cube..
Wish I had found this video before I had replaced my cube batteries with those deadly 12v guys.
when I open the cube I can't get the circuit board out because of these plastic parts
With a knife cut melted plastic pins to release the circuit board.
What if… it flashes properly and then proceeds to not work and slightly flicker red?
Ive concluded there’s just a loose connection somewhere, after one day it briefly decided to work
An unfortunate update: it didn’t fix :(
I'm having exactly this on Cube 3 now. Still works slightly with some games, but it's on its way out for sure.

Jesus dude just buy new cubes
I don't know how it is now, but at that time they were no longer on sale.
I am from Germany, a new cube Cost me with shipment 35€ to 40€ the chip change is les than 1 € !!!
