      @unknow2448 All wires from the solar panels to the geared motor wires connected directly, only the solar panels of opposite sides the wires are connected with reverse potentials. At the end of the video you see soldering panel wires to a short motor wire, so it's a bit unclear.

      @@MukGyver I like the Idea that this is self sustaining without the need of a external power source or a micro processor. "Low-Tec" is easy to maintain and repair. Maybe you could place the same thing on top of an bigger panel. The small pilot-panel would power relays instead of motors. The relays could then control a bigger motor to turn the main panel. only a small suggestion for the next project ... 😉

    I dont get why its so hard to make a tracker, surely we know the exact position of the sun at any time, we can even know the exact position of the sun 100 years from now at 1:30pm in the middle of scotland, so why cant we just get trackers to point at where it knows the sun will be at that particular time?

      It should reverse itself. However for an early turnaround to the East an additional solar panel could be placed at the right angle.

    This is cool and all but running cross polarity on the panels will degrade them, not to mention now you've used the panels power to run the motors leaving you with no output power to charge or use

      It's just a TRACKER prototype, it's job to track the position of the sun ONLY but if you attach a more powerful generating solar panel to it, you'll get a complete system which will be able to charge lithium batteries efficiently. Subscribe to see the complete system soon..

    The problem with this design is there is no reset or park position. As the sun sets, the panels will be cranked all the way in one position and they stay there. Next morning, the sun comes up behind the panels, which now can't produce power. Each day you will have to manually move the panels to catch the morning sun. Great if your using a bulb, not so great if using the sun.

    • @MukGyver

      The tracker was designed for portable charging purposes (need to attach the bigger power solar panel to it only). There is no problem attaching one more smaller solar panel for the return position if the system will be stationary.

    so it can follow the sun... great ! but is consumes the enrgy it produces to move the panels. How do you get energy from the panels to use for REAL power that you can use p. ex. to charge a phone or so ? NOT

    This direct use of geared motors may not useful in big solar panels...

    • @MukGyver
      @MukGyver  Год назад +1

      Yes, of course in big solar panels or solar arrays there will be other construction which will help to move them all with two geared motors but the main idea to control big panels or arrays could be the same..

  • @darrenstyle4283
    @darrenstyle4283 Год назад +3

    You need one more solar panel to bring the tracker back to face the sun in the morning.

    This whole thing only makes sense, when you store the energy in lithium battery, not simply cancel it out.

      @@MukGyver It only needs to be re-positioned every 30 minutes. You could use a timer circuit and relays to switch between solar cells and motors or solar cells and charging circuit.
      So power to relays means 5 seconds of re-positioning, otherwise charging.

      Or you could monitor the position of the tracker and use it to control the direction of your entire solar array.
