Yeah, it’s called Rebel’s Guard. It has you take a very reduced amount of damage, which is unlike of lot of other counters, which let you take none. The tradeoff is that you can hold it down for a few seconds. If you release it right after getting hit, then you can do a very small amount damage to your opponent (the actual reason you’d want to hit them with that attack is because it sends them not only away from you, but also into a disadvantageous spot where you can follow up). The real reason you’d want to use the move itself, however, is because it fills up your Rebel’s Gauge (the bar above Joker’s (on the left) icon) very, very fast, like what you saw in the video. Once it’s fully charged, you get to unleash Aresne, which is Joker’s super form. Arsene Joker is pretty universally considered the best character in the game. The only thing is that you have to play regular Joker first, so if you can get it up that fast, you have a very major advantage over your opponent. The real shock factor in all this is just how well Leo managed to predict Sparg0’s attacks, using multiple Rebel’s Guards in a row, sometimes even twice for a single attack (that upwards slash you see Cloud do with the red trail can be followed up with an optional downwards slash. It’s worth nothing that the first time Sparg0 used it, he didn’t follow it up, and Leo read that with an up air. The second time he did, and Leo guarded both hits separately. The fact that he did it seprately also notable, because, since you can hold it down, Sparg0 would assume that if Leo was reading the second hit, he’d hold it down to tank the second hit with the same guard. Leo released it, making Sparg0 think he could hit Leo on his way back down, so he went down, and Leo guarded that too.), ending up with him hitting 5/5 of his predictions, unleashing Aresne, sending Sparg0 offstage, and 2-framing him with his down air (a move that sends directly downwards if and only if you have Aresne).
